Yesterday was mostly spent at the ITP Estate, except for helping Betsy out with an errand, and then going over to her house for dinner. The biggest wins for my day were mowing the front yard, and hammering in some posts so that I could secure five pepper plants which are finally starting to grow. WLF is at an interesting transition point, and unfortunately it appears that the seven fig tree saplings I transplanted on Tuesday have all died. In addition to my fig woes, none of my bean plantings this year have gone as expected; either I’ve had lousy seed germination, transplant mortality, or critters eating the plants.
Wordle: five, my starter was SLIDE
I’m surprised that no one has called me out for using S-words as my Wordle starter for the past two weeks. Clearly it’s a strategy that has not worked well.
Here are my starter words for the past fifteen days (you know I keep my own stats now, right?):
STAGE
STRIP
SATIN
USAGE
SPRAY
STARK
SURGE
SWEAR
SHRED
SCREW
STUMP
SHOCK
SCAPE
STAGE
SLIDE
Somehow USAGE slipped past the goalie.
Guess how many times the solution has started with an S in the past two weeks…
Wordle in 5. My starting word was SAINT!
Neighbor/friend/vet Nicole is redoing her barn and we have been gifted some stuff which I drove over and picked up last evening. A brand new lighted umbrella, the kind you would set up next to the pool (I told Debbie now we need to put in the pool to go with it.) And a nice… I call it a show box- you would take it to shows and it holds a couple saddles and all you brushes and tack. About 2/3 the size of a refrigerator. Debbie sees a use for is when we build out the interior of the man-cave into an actual tack room and office. More work for retirement…
Still no exercise, except being out in the heat.

Yeah my exercise has been severely limited. I was (not) surprised when my riding group rode Tuesday night, even with the temperature hovering around 95°F. Not for me, thank you very much.
I popped around WLF this morning, finding a couple of oversized yellow squash (note to self: plant MORE zucchini, LESS yellow squash next year), and tossing some tomatoes that were either eaten by a critter, split and beginning to rot, or in one instance had a slug on it. I also found the green stem of a tomato which confused me, until I realized that the tomato to which it was attached was no longer hanging on the plant.
Clearly it is the end of times.. I just glanced at the radar and weather is moving WEST!
You know who I blame… 🙂
I don’t play Wordle regularly enough to use your start words Paulie, I didn’t notice they all started with S 🙂
Dismal showing at bowling last night, I rolled like 120, 198, 150. I can’t figure out why I am so inconsistent. Maybe I should take more advantage of my free practice games.
Steve, if you are looking for something to do on Sunday the GA400 Century in Roswell is looking for motorcycle course marshals. My guess is we ride around and make sure nobody needs help and call for SAG if they do.
I have overthought the shit out of Wordle, with little to no benefit. Haha
Hmmm… might have to look into that.
Cool Steve, here is the event page: https://www.ga400century.com/
and here is the volunteer page: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050545AAA82EA20-54280954-2025#/
I signed up for the 100 mile support but was told I was needed to sweep the 25/33 mile route. Once I sweep that I will go back out and cheer on the century riders.
Another loss for Atlanta United last night. Not going to be their season…
Making pickled yellow squash currently. No idea how this will turn out.
I never pay attention to Wordle, and haven’t played it in months. You’d think I would like it more, being a wordy person. I think I just got bored.
Picked up Pollo Primo and went to my friend Sarah’s house last night. That shit is so good.
Agreed about Pollo Primo. However, eating out is very low on my luxury list these days.
Wordle in 6. That wasn’t working for me.
Hanging at the lake house with the relatives, there’s so much hurry up & wait.
They bought a ton of food, but no one can seem to figure out what to make to eat.
We went to the local Mercantile store & bought bacon & more eggs, and ended up cooking it.
Sitting in the shade, it’s 68°- I think I need to get a long sleeve shirt
Sucks to be you! It’s a steamy 95°F here and I’m walking around in a pair of gym shorts and short-sleeved technical shirt!
My vacuum cleaner was just delivered, so I am going to assemble it in the basement. I don’t dare try to watch tv because I have a suspicion that my stereo receiver won’t be passing audio again when I turn it on, and I don’t need the distraction / time suck.
Vacuum assembled, but I’ve yet to try it out.
Since I am in the basement I also cleaned up all of the heads of garlic I harvested this year.
Unfortunately, a lot of tiny heads, will have to do better next year.
