I Am Not Alone

Oh sure I am alone in the strictest sense of the phrase, but yesterday I realized that I am not really alone. While reading Michael Ruhlman’s blog, he being one of the judges on The Next Iron Chef competition, I saw a handful of people like me who want to travel to Cleveland solely to eat at Michael Symon’s restaurant Lola. Like me many were swayed by the episode of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations where he met up with Ruhlman in Cleveland and they ate at Lola, as well as the food that Symon has created on The Next Iron Chef challenge. Have no idea what the hell I just said? Then you are not like me in regards to food.

Pretty frightening, no? It’s guaranteed to scare away women in whom you have interest.

Anm Additional “Aw Shit”
I felt pretty lousy yesterday. When I arrived at the doctor’s office to give my blood sample I realized that I had left my wallet at home. So much for eating breakfast at Java Jive. Rats!

When I returned home I decided that I was too ill to go to work so I called in sick. I pretty much spent the rest of the day on the couch (my back pain reflects this today).

After starting a second load of laundry and getting comfortable to watch a little evening Monday Night Football I decided to log on to Pollstar to see what shows are coming to town. Much to my dismay I realized that She Wants Revenge was playing at The Loft last night — and even worse, I remembered that I had purchased a ticket. I literally said “Aw shit!” aloud. There was no way in hell that I could have gone to the show.

Does She Like Pornography?
Another reason for sacrificing last night’s She Wants Revenge show was so that I could be ready for tonight’s The New Pornographers’ show at Variety Playhouse.

CD Pick Of The Week
You want me to pick the new Brittney Spears disc. I know that you do… Sorry kids, wrong blog for that.

Instead I am going a bit old-school/off-beat and recommending David Byrne’s “The Knee Plays”. Best know for his work with the Talking Heads Byrne has been putting out solo work and fighting the record authorities work then. From what I have heard from “The Knee Plays” this disc will definitely not be for everyone. However, I have bizarre tastes in music (among other things) so I will be giving it the nod this week.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – wishing my body could fight off illness better
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Shout Out Louds — “Tonight I Have To Leave It”
Website Of The Day – After I quoted The Office from last week my friend Darren reminded me of the Second Life parody site Get A First Life.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Monthly Mileage – 0 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car

October Goal
1) Find happiness

Cheers,

read Soul of a Chef by Ruhlman and you’ll find a third of the book devoted to Lola. It’s salivatingly wonderful. The last third is devoted to the French Laundry, and when I die or win the lottery, I want to be eating there. road trip to yountville, ca anyone?

btw, shore is a cute dog posted on yesterday’s blog. someone might have to call the po po on her for being too damn adorable….

Maybe we can all do a road trip to Cleveland the next time the Boner’s head home. I traveled there once for work, much better than I expected.

I’m game for a road trip to eat at French Laundry as well. 🙂

I nearly put a black bar over the dog’s eyes in order to protect her identity. I would hate to be responsible for a dog-napping because she’s so damn cute.

So did anyone go by Gravity and raise a farewell pint. We were sorta in the ‘hood last Friday night, but were attempting to make it into Oakland Cemetery for the tour (not as a permenant occupant). We arrived about 9:15 and there were 500 people ahead of us… I guess you could say they were dying to get in!! (and where is Barfbag when you need him)

    We bailed…

Martha went up. I was going to meet her until she told me that there was a “Private Party” sign on the door. I heard that they were charging a $20 door charge as well. I didn’t find it necessary to try and join the party.

Wow, I heard that a lot of people went to Oakland but I didn’t realize that their night tour was so popular.

    Paulie,

If it only takes you the month of October to find happiness, I envy you.

Sadly like most of the goals I set this year I am not going to accomplish it.

    Here’s a suggestion for November’s goal:

Learn to be more accepting of myself.

    or perhaps:

    Learn to love me.

See the kinda crap you get when you let anyone comment 😉
