Happy St Patrick’s Day, or St Patty’s Day, or St Paddy’s Day, whatever. I expect that I will be headed out this afternoon to celebrate, maybe even at a Mexican restaurant to avoid the crowds. I remember going out to Buckhead in the 1990s, specifically one year going to Ri O’Bravos (their spelling of the restaurant name that day) wanting to be amongst the crowds in hopes of meeting a woman. Oh young(er) Paulie…

Tomorrow I may go to Avondale Estates for the Goethe Institute’s Frühlingsfest, a small celebration of German culture, and a short lived tradition that I’d like to reclaim.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was ROAST, mainly because GUINNESS, POTATO, and CORNEDBEEF have too many letters.

I got back to basics with LEAST and solved in 3. Mini in 43.

I got around to watching the latest Chris Rock special. I agree with the review I read thar most of the show is a set-up for the final few minutes where he talks about Will Smith. His commentary about white privilege and January 6 was well put though: “What kind of white Planet of the Apes shit was that?”

    • Barb says:

Chris Rock’s voice annoys me, so I don’t know if I could watch an entire special.
I did watch a Jim Gaffigan special on the airplane, (didn’t have time for another movie) it was from 2018 – it was pretty good.

Flight home didn’t have time for a 2nd movie as well, so I started watching Friday Night Lights – its not too bad (for a high school football based theme)

      • David says:

Jim Gaffigan is great. His Hot Pockets bit is definitely worth looking up on YouTube.

Chris Rock was definitely full of himself during the special. That did get tedious, but I also knew what to expect.

      • Jenka says:

We saw Jim Gaffigan at Phillips Arena pre-pandemic, he was hilarious. And David is right, his Hot Pockets bit is super funny.

I definitely appreciate how he works clean. I am turning off more and more stand-up comedy shows on Netflix because they quickly devolve into flat out grossness. Mentioning anal sex in passing? Sure, fine. Dedicating a significant portion of your show to it? No thanks. Even Chris Rock wasn’t exempt from this. I mean seriously, a little goes a long way.

Oh my god, I am so with you. I hate Amy Schumer because every single joke she has is about her vagina. Every. Single. One.

Finally got around to reading everything Insidetheperimeter. :). Wordl in two today starting with campy. Camping is on the brain. Getting excited for Spring Tune Up. Hope it warms up for next month. Finally finished another 2000 piece puzzle which I will pass along to Wee. Dogsitting until Saturday night. Might try and get my taxes done this week-end. As for restaurants closing….my friends are closing Rosarios in Kennesaw. Mainly due to staffing issues and having to work long hours covering shifts. They tried to make it work but just never recovered from the pandemic. All the pizza joints we use for our first Tuesday run and pizza night no longer deliver. Hope everyone has a great week-end. Looks cold but at least no rain.

Friday and because of my aforementioned vacation accrual I took Monday off, which means another three day weekend. Finn’s Buddy Baseball season starts tomorrow morning. It’s a thing where they pair regular Little League players with kids with all sorts of issues like spina bifida, autism, cerebral palsy, etc. The kid bats until they hit the ball, then they run the bases and cross home plate like they are king of the world! All accompanied by their neuro-typical buddy so they don’t go astray. Let me tell you that this is the most feel-good, soul-uplifting thing IN THE WORLD. Seeing those kids cross home plate and do a victory dance while the crowd goes wild is AMAZING. Finn is the tallest and the fastest so when he finally hits the ball he races around the bases.

St. Patrick’s Day. Along with New Year’s, it is a holiday for amateurs.

Wordle in 3 starting with PADDY, as IRISH wasn’t allowed.

Jenna, that sounds like an amazing time!

The BMW dealer in Columbus has the demo truck there today and tomorrow and I was going to ride down and look, but not with the rain about to start.

My ride of 19 yesterday took me past a friends farm where he was out playing with his skid steer. I told him he has nothing to complain about on his road as the big gravel was around the corner and I was waiting for a flat. Don’t you know that was the kiss of death as I rode on, sure enough a pinch flat. 10 minutes and back on the road.

Anyone else’s bracket trashed already? Friend Rachel and her daughter are both Furman alums and are ecstatic.

    MSR tomorrow!

  5. I have probably mentioned this before, but YouTube’s desire to be TikTok and encouraging creators to post “Shorts” is really ruining my experience on the platform as my feed is now littered with videos I don’t want to watch. #FirstWorldProblem

  6. Back from a walk up to EAV to tend to a chore. As someone who desires to lose weight again I inexplicably rewarded myself with a cookie from Joe’s.

  7. For months I have been delaying buying fruit plants from a nursery in Cartersville, and finally decided to order today on.y to find that they have sold out of everything I wanted. Dangen!

  8. Barb says:

    what is MSR?

  9. Barb says:

I’m in the mood for fish n chips, but I know better than to go to an Irish place today.
So – we are going to Australian Bakery for lunch. (they close at 3 or 4, so I can’t wait until this evening)

this way we can still go our for Mexican food tonight if we feel like it.

    • David says:

Great way to hedge your bet there. 🙂

    • Jenka says:

You are killing me with your Australian Bakery access. I was at that place once a damn week when they were in EAV!

      • Barb says:

just got back – Neville (one of the owners) is always working. He said the online shipping business is great. Store front is hard – finding staff of course.
Fish was super tasty, chips (fries) were just so so (could have been crispier). I usually just get a meat pie, so I’ve never had the fries before.

Jenka- if you ever want yo venture to the Marietta Square (before 3-4pm) I”ll meet you there

        • Jenka says:

Yes, Neville! Their pies (the savory meat pies) were amazing and they had a $6 English breakfast that was a hangover miracle. *sigh*

  10. Barb says:

Paulie – Upside has $10 bonus if you go to 2 restaurants by the end of the month – I saw it is AZ, so we stopped & got a Jack in the Box for a milk shake. There’s a couple mexican places near me – so I’m going to get the $10 bonus!
