I have a lot of plants that are unhappy to remain indoors. I don’t like the idea of transplanting sickly tomato and pepper plants, but that’s what I am doing today. Time will tell if this was a mistake. I may start new seeds today, just in case I have tremendous plant failure.

The other day I mentioned new endeavors. This year, as I turn sixty, I will be trying my hand at fermenting (sauerkraut and pickles), pressure canning (hopefully tomato sauce), and growing mushrooms in buckets.

Wordle: three, my starter was WATER

Yesterday Allan noticed a tree leaning in the neighbors back yard – we’d noticed it before, but it was so windy, and its looking dead, and resting on a branch of another tree.
So – I sent her a text about getting it taken care of – its close enough to our yard (& camper) we don’t need another insurance claim. She & her husband didn’t seem to worried about it, she thinks it would fall away from the camper & only damage some chain link fence. (we aren’t so sure about that).

I then texted a tree guy we’ve used before, he was in the neighborhood – so he stopped by.
His price – $1800 for the dead one, and another $1000 for the one its resting on.
I have another guy who was just next door not too long ago coming by today.
Once I get this 2nd estimate, I may have to formally get the neighbor involved – so I can get them to pay for at least some of this.

    2025 – still spending money like crazy……………

    • I feel your pain, though not as strongly.

      Good luck with the trees.

You’re going to take down a tree on someone else’s property? Will they not mind? My neighbors wouldn’t mind, but you never know.

      • Barb says:

its way in the back -they don’t care, it actually probably in the easement – but it won’t hurt anything of theirs – so they really don’t care.

        • Barb says:

looking like dead tree – $1800, take out the live tree next to it – another $1000

Its all about spending money this year……….

Wordle in 5 and all the letters and all bu 2 in the right place in 4.

I have the 30 yard roll off mostly loaded. I’ve had to cut some of the bigger trunks to be able to move them- lifting them into the box ain’t happening. Getting everything in and pushed in is its own battle. A skid steer would be more useful but can’t lift as high to slam dunk into the box. Doing the best I can.

Hopefully, I can wrap up today and actually do something fun while I’m on “vacation”.

Had the Diavola pizza at Double Zero last night and it was definitely spicy. Just a nice burn, nothing crazy. Then we finally watched the season finale of The White Lotus. OhEmGee that show is so good.

    wordle in 4 –
Connections – didn’t get some of the categories – but I guessed & didn’t flame out.

  7. My respect for the green lizard which is out sunning itself has kept me from planting two eggplant plants. Tomorrow…

I have put in eight, less than stellar pepper plants. I will keep an eye on them to see if they need to be taken out at some point.

    • Funny how I have respect for some creatures over others, I guess it’s a sliding scale based on crop consumption. There is one, uncovered brassica (a cabbage plant I believe) on which cabbage moths have been laying eggs. In the past three days I’ve squashed about a half dozen small caterpillars..

      • Barb says:

I think you are ok – I doubt the lizard messes with your plants like the cabbage moths would

As I’ve gotten to the bottom of the log piles, I’ve had to rescue 3 frogs. I guess really toads. Either way, I’m saving them. Blue tails skinks as well. They were too quick to catch and move, but I told them to find a new home.
