First tomato of the year eaten, a small, slightly larger than a ping pong ball, Heinz variety. It was sublime.

I made a potato leek soup last night, to which I added a yellow squash and some garlic. The only vegetable put into the soup which was not harvested from Wee Little Farm was an onion. I could have used the small onions I harvested, but the store-bought one was older and needed to be used.I realized that I didn’t have the heavy cream in the soup recipe, but not wanting to go out just to buy that, I substituted while milk and sour cream; the result was decent.

If this weather pattern continues I will never have to use sprinklers in WLF for the rest of the growing season…

Well it appears I made the right decision to give up on watching Atlanta United after they gave up the first goal in last night’s game. Within ten minutes after halftime they gave up three more goals and lost 4-0. Ugh.

We got to our hotel after the delightful train ride and immediately made friends with the bartender such that without us asking he wrote down a list of good restaurants in the order of how he likes them. So we went to the top one on his list which was a casual Austrian place where we shared a table with two other (American, heh) parties. (When one of the other couples left I joked that this was the designated American table- they were from Oklahoma City and they laughed.) The place was packed, thus the sharing of tables. Kevin had the wiener and I had the schnitzel again, both were excellent. Also excellent was the stroll to and from the restaurant along the river.

Today we plan to visit the old town, take the funicular up to the fortress, and also visit Mozart’s birthplace.

  3. Not sure anyone else has noticed, but it has been raining a lot this year.

  4. Found another frog/toad friend while rummaging in WLF. Told it that I was happy to let it and its mates live here, but that they needed to up their slug, snail, and mosquito eating game. šŸ™‚

  5. Harvested one more grow bag of potatoes. These were the largest potatoes ever grown in WLF! They were proper-sized purple potatoes.

congrats!!! One of these days I might try growing potatoes again – you think the best way to do it is grow bags? Where did you buy them?

      • I think grow bags are great for potatoes. They make harvesting really easy.

I bought the grow bags (ten gallon) from Amazon. I buy my seed potatoes from Tractor Supply.

The potatoes I’ve harvested the past couple of days were planted on March 4th, and required no maintenance on my part.

        • Barb says:

interesting – maybe a fall idea? or should I wait until next spring?

          • I continue to plant until August, especially since we don’t see to get hard freezes until December.

You may have to wait until next year to use proper seed potatoes, but I have also been known to put store-bought potatoes that grow eyes into the ground.

Last night went with Annette to a Total Wine (Cumberland) wine tasting. For regular people it costs $20/person – but if you have their rewards program & spend lots of money there (Annette & Mark do, we do not) I guess it is free.
It was French wines – they teach you stuff about the region, etc – its not a bad time at all.
    Nice complementary Charcuterie spread too.

We got to the area a little early, it was raining & weren’t sure about the traffic – so went into a 5 Below store for the 1st time ever to waste some time. Dang that place is full of stuff(crap) that costs $5 or less. Only thing I could maybewant to buy was candy, but didn’t do that.
Then it was pouring when we were done, so we perused the Total Wine store, and Annette found things to buy.

    • I am a rewards member, but not a frequent shopper since in Total Wine stores are a hike from East Atlanta.

I’ve been in that Five Below and concur with your assessment.

oh wait -there were a few funny tshirts – but I need more tshirts like I need a whole in the head.

No Total Wine stores in the city?

Speaking of the city – we are going to DAS BBQ Saturday late afternoon for Allan’s chief’s retirement get together. Not sure if I want to eat BBQ – and was thinking about Fred’s Meat & Bread at Krog Street the other day. I wonder if I could talk Allan into that.

Steve (& everyone) – don’t forget – Kroger digital coupon for 4x fuel points today.

    • Oh? I should have waited to buy my groceries today. There are some items I still have to purchase, however.

Also remember that you get no fuel points for alcohol purchases, which grinds my gears!

      • Barb says:

I have never paid attention to that – very interesting bit of trivia.

      • I am fairly certain about that. It’s one of the reasons I stopped purchasing alcohol at Kroger, unless its my only option.

    Wordle in 4.

With Debbie this morning running errands. Dropped her truck off at the dealer for 2 recalls, breakfast and bank runs.

I think I’ve finally decided on routing to the rally. Via Huntsville and a stop at the space center. Tuesday via the art show and then onto the rally. Hoping for good weather.

Ill reach out to Allan about Sunday. Meeting Meg for dinner at 6FU.
