I didn’t accomplish a heck of a lot this past weekend, mostly sitting in bars drinking. That’s not to say that I am sorry about that…

Today will be all about striking things from my long To-Do list.

    About to head out on the scooter for my adventure. A pretty quiet weekend all around.

    An equestrian died in a car wreck (someone we did not know) but our friends were helping to clean out her rental home and we collected some stuff to store while they decide what to do. Various other chores.

    Met up with Allan at the station yesterday to drop the gravel bike off and got the tour. The original station dates from the late 1800’s. I knew it was old, but wow. Dinner at 6FU with Meg and Ella.

    Today,space center in Huntsville, then museum and Natchez Trace tomorrow.

    Long 3 day weekend!
    With the help of my buddy Jim we constructed a 12 x 14 foot gazebo on my deck. This thing came in 3 flat boxes and had a bazillion screws. Thankfully the instructions were done extremely well so was pretty easy to follow, tedious at times but easy enough. Hardest part was installing the roof as there was 4 sections, 2 at 12 feet and 2 at 14 feet. Raising up and securing those huge panels was tricky. I am very happy with the results and look forward to spending more time out there.

    Best 50th birthday I’ve ever had so far! 🙂 Yesterday we had the train odyssey from hell getting from Salzburg to Prague. First train was late, then we missed it, then we had to take a series of smaller trains, most with no air conditioning, and it was hot as fuck. Then we finally make it to the Prague station and it’s POURING. Finally found a taxi and got to the hotel completely soaking wet. What a journey.

    Today we took an amazing lunch cruise on the Vltana river, then we walked around the old town, checked out the square and the astronomical clock, then we had aperol spritzes at a cafe. 70 degrees and partially sunny, what a great day!

    Some of you will be interested to know that we’re staying at the Four Seasons and Bruce Springsteen is also staying here. He played a show last night and we were sitting at the bar when his handler came in and cordoned off half the bar for his entourage. We never saw him, but fans have been just standing outside the hotel all last night and all today just waiting for a glimpse of The Boss. Pretty cool to just walk past the throng and go inside the hotel like we own the place!

    In from a morning of outdoor choring — mowed lawn, sowed some corn and okra, did some WLF cleanup, etc, etc, etc. Still much to do, but it’s about to get hot, and I needed lunch. Heating some leftover potato/leek soup for lunch.
