I had a fun weekend in Sylva, NC with some of the other Chattahooligans. On Friday we decided to skip riding because by the time we checked in and set up camp it was 3pm, and we were all sweaty and ready for beer. Saturday’s 48 mile ride was tough but not nearly as tough as the 65 mile ride from what we heard; we were done with the shorter route before rain arrived. We weren’t so lucky yesterday, even though we opted for the 25 mile route instead of the 44 mile route, as the skies opened up during our last eight miles of riding, making it a bit of a harrowing descent on my bike with rim brakes. As you can well imagine, we also consumed a lot of beer.
Wordle: three, my starter was STAGE
It appears that Wee Little Farm caught 3” of rain while I was gone. Another 2” are predicted for this week. It would be nice if another Nature would spread the rain out a little more so that it’s not feast or famine.
This rain and cloudy weather is going to make it difficult for me to dry my tent and rain fly.
don’t you have a carport? 😉
it will get dry….. someday
I have a carport, yes. It’s where my car is parked. And though I highly doubt that anyone would steal a tent, I don’t really want to set mine up and leave it out there overnight.
I’m trying to figure out how to hang the rain fly in the basement and have a fan blow on it.
I mean just during the day –
Yeah, I think a tent would most definitely get stolen. A homeless guy would love it!
…also 3″ of rain on Decatur!

Thankfully far less in Sylva, maybe up to 1”.
Wordle in 4.
A long day Friday- total mileage, about 675. The bike is a great find, well taken care of and really needs nothing. I will put more offroad tires on it, but the current tires have many miles left. Rode it on some dirt roads Saturday and it was a bit sketchy.
As my tent was set up in the scooter parking area of the shop, I finally completed the waterproofing that I had started a couple weeks ago. It’s now put away and the scooters are out of the carport.
Managed 16 miles between rain storms yesterday. As I had been off the bike all week, I was going to have to drag out the trainer if I didn’t get a chance to ride outside.
Off to register the bike after work today.

I have been fighting some crud since we came back from Florida so we bagged our trip to the cabin this weekend and instead we did nothing. The only time I left the house was Saturday to go to General Muir for lunch and then a brief stop at Kroger. It was glorious. And the best part is that the Red Sox swept the Astros.
Bummer about the crud. That’s how Florida and conventions get ya!
Great times in Sylva and fun hanging out with you Paulie. Even though we said this whole thing was your fault as we were getting pummeled with rain it was all worth it. I’m glad you suggested the ride. Next up, fall tour in Thomson?
Though I have a very packed fall, if a weekend in Thomson is free, I’m in!
let us know if Thomson happens – we’d be game
exciting weekend – ok – not really.
Spent plenty of time at the care center, Dad is doing basically the same – needs help eating now – so that’s fun.
Did have lunch out both days – a little bistro Saturday at a garden center, and pizza and Voodoo beer on Sunday.
Dan got here Sunday, so gave him the lay of the land out there Sunday evening.
Ate corn on the cob (again)& some meatloaf my sister froze last month way too late last night.
More hands on deck — that’s good!
I made a meatloaf a couple of weeks ago, it did not last long.
Dan isn’t all that much help, but he’s a PITA & entertaining at the same time.
Wordle in 3 – Paulie & I are thinking alike today
As the rain returns the tent rain fly is hanging in the basement with a fan blowing on it, and the tent is set up in the other half of the basement.
Note to self: YOU OWN TOO MUCH SHIT!
Don’t you start… how many horses/horse trailers/motorcycles/bicycles/trucks do we own?
hey Steve – we didn’t force you to have all that shit……..
Slowly going thru more stuff here at the house, it isn’t horrible, but, there’s plenty of stuff still
