When the rain finally stopped yesterday I was able to wander around WLF. I was forced to harvest four small eggplant, because the critters have eaten all of the others out there. I also harvested three small butternut squash. I’d prefer larger butternut squash, but apparently am not getting enough sunlight to grow them larger, so I will have to settle for what I have.
I’m envious of growers who don’t have to put up with the critters the way I do.
Wordle: three, my starter was COUGH
1st !!
At the airport way too early for a 0600am flight.
American has one at 0500am, I was not the 1st person in the airport today , here were lots of people.
TSA I think opened early at 3:50, as there were length of people waiting.
This place isn’t that big, getting so early for a flight cracks me up. (If I trusted uber to show up, I’d do that, but I don’t trust the drivers around here)
I have 7 ears of corn & 2 ziplocs of frozen corn cut off the cob in my checked bag.
Will that get flagged & checked???
Made it thru TSA with some tomatoes in a plastic container in my backpack.
It’s IOWA FFS… they shouldn’t have a problem.
I’m surprised the TSA didn’t flex its “authority”.
but – its TSA – they always have a problem
But all my produce is accounted for……….
ready to be shucked & eaten for dinner tonight
Woot!
3rd!!
Wordle in 5, with all letters and 3 in the right place in 4.
Finally forced onto the trainer last night for 30 minutes. Better than nothing.
I had several folks ask me about retirement and the internal information monitors are showing 11 folks retiring in August and September. $hit’s getting real.
-FP
Whoa, it is. Speaking of September I remembered that property taxes will be sent out then as well. The money just keeps flowing out…
Good on you for getting on the trainer. Even though I knew it probably wouldn’t rain in Decatur, I opted for a four mile walk instead of riding last night. Today I need to get my bike on the stand and give it a good cleaning and lubing.
I just found my RoadID! *rejoice*
As an added bonus, my dried camping gear has been packed and stowed.
Bike is now cleaned and ready for its next ride.
Is there any way to put in a fence? That would at least curtail the critters somewhat.
Stayed in and ate salads for dinner. Red Sox take the series against the Royals, we will see today whether they sweep or not.
The yard has a chainlink fence, and I’ve tried to put fencing and cloth covers to no avail. The real solution is to move to a place with a lot more buffer to deter the critters from encroaching.
I guess there is a fig tree over at Mary & TJs – it’s the neighbors’ tree – that needs to be trimmed. So, Allan is over there with his chainsaw or pole pruner or something. I asked if it had any figs on it? Told Allan to pick some if there are – maybe some bacon wrapped figs with dinner????
Man, I’d never trim it, especially if it’s producing figs!
Speaking of figs, I ate a ripe one this morning. Wish I could harvest more at one time.
I think it’s on their roof, or near the roof, or something that is bothering them
Ah, that make more sense.
Sun is out? Woot! I think the last time I saw full sun was Friday.
Trying to figure out if I fractured a finger, or I have the onset of arthritis. Sure, a doctor could probably tell me, but I don’t want to spend the money to find out yet. I may put the finger in a homemade splint for a few days.
is it just sore?
It hurts when I bend it in certain ways. For instance, while grabbing a brush and cleaning my bike. Like I said, I won’t do anything about for probably a week and if it still hurts….
FWIW, I have a lot of weird pains these days, so it could just be part of the fun of aging.
