Thought the rain would slow down the riders last night. Nope, and I fell off the back for the final quarter of the ride.

Wordle in 4. Clearly they are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

For various reasons, including work on the parking deck, some sort of big meeting, and W. Peachtree completely closed at 11th St., we’ve been allowed to work from home for the next 10 days or so. I will take it. My partner Sam asked me to cover a change going in on Saturday, so I’ll be back for that.

Games notes- overall ticket sales down 20%, much like all the games that have already taken place. Patrons and sponsors are ahead of last year. Go figure.

    Nothing else of note.

    • Still plenty of common words which have not been solutions, I think the NYT is being clever. Maybe they are trying to see how many times the current President will fail Wordle? 🙂

Where does The Games advertise in order to drum up interest? Good luck.

      • Steve says:

Always has been our downfall- hardly anywhere. The “neighbor newpapers” back when they were still a thing. Creative Loafing for a while (20 years ago?). We’ve tried billboards once or twice. Stone Mountain Park has a 15 second spot they will start running… somewhere. They finally figured out if they mention us in their media buys, we both benefit. Duh.

        • Jenka says:

Can you put one of the volunteers onto advertising? You’d get a great response with just a little bit. I wouldn’t even know it was going on if I weren’t friends with you.

        • Barb says:

I’d think just some Facebook, Instagram, etc. advertising would help. Someone creates an event – and then just comments on it, or whatever. I’m not that person, but there are plenty of people that know how to do that sort of thing

To paraphrase Samuel L. Jackson, “TikTok, motherfucker!” 🙂

Glad to hear you went & rode.
I had a plan to go ride or walk or something, but then it started raining, and got super, super humid, so we went grocery shopping instead.

Watched Dept Q (Netflix – 9 episodes) over the past week – if you like a quirky British/Scottish detective drama – its pretty good. If they do a 2nd season, we’d definitely watch it.

I also had tacos yesterday, but I went to Bar.bacoa. Can’t get enough of their Trailer Park taco- fried chicken. It just constantly rained on and off last evening. The Sox won spectacularly last night. At first we switched between the Sox and the Braves, and then Kevin just stopped. LOL!

  4. Jenka says:

Apparently Paideia is back in session (thanks for the warning, DAVID). Took me 20 minutes to get from my house to Ponce.

    • Steve says:

They had a westbound lane of Ponce blocked when I was coming back to the office yesterday. That has to add to the suckage.

    • David says:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. As of next May, there’ll be one less car in the mix as my daughter is starting her senior year. However, your commute will get one car worse as of October 4, when my son gets his license. You’ve been warned. 😉

And Jesus Christ, I don’t know what the hell was going on with Moreland today, it was pretty much gridlocked from the Edgewood shopping center to Ponce.

wordle in 5 – another word I know but would never think about

My apologies to the Games social media crew- we do have a good presence there, but I think it’s a bit of preaching to the choir. Once upon a time (before social media) I tried to survey folks as to who they were, how far they came, whether they were “Scottish family” i.e “the choir”. I don’t remember the results, but I know we should do it again.

  7. Back from a very long morning of errands — oil change, Tractor Supply, Ollie’s, Goodwill, Harbor Freight, Publix, Kroger. I was down in Morrow and Fayetteville, it was a good thing Awkward Brewing wasn’t opened yet.

Disappointed to see that the food grade bucket for dough proofing was shipped to me by Amazon in a plastic bag. The bucket is slightly damaged, but not enough for me to go through the effort of returning it to get another.

  8. Boy howdy it’s humid again!

It’s amazing how fragile my basil plant is. One hot sunny day, after numerous overcast/wet days, and it’s wilting like a MoFo.

  9. Bob says:

Humid as hell on my ride last night, then it started raining on me. This time of year is not fun to ride rogue trails, for some reason Joro spiders love to build webs right at face level. I lost count of how many webs I went through. I almost crashed after one as the spider was on my face!
On a positive note, I looked at the site where I bought my bike and there is a fire sale. I called them up and asked if they have a price guarantee and yes they do. I got $600 refunded to me W00T!! 🙂
