Finding Myself

Well, not really, but I did find just about everything else that I’ve been unable to find recently. On more than one occasion I found something that I’ve already repurchased. Such is life.

I Was So Proud Of Myself
On Saturday I cleared the basement area that once again will house my indoor cycling area. I was so proud of myself, and then I went outside to check for mail and I saw a woman out actually cycling. She’s far tougher than I am.

In putting my training area together I also managed to resurrect a portion of the Red Rocket, you know, the bicycle on which I had my terrible accident five years ago. Because I didn’t want to replace the rear wheel skewer on the Black Jack, I recalled that I replaced the one on the Red Rocket years ago. So, I pumped up the tire on the old Red Rocket rear wheel, swapped it for the Black Jack’s, and then mounted the bike. As an added bonus I’m not tearing up the Black Jack’s rear tire! He’s crafty…

Pride Regained
On Sunday afternoon I mounted the new cycling trainer and pedaled for an hour. It’s a start. I passed the time away watching most of Elf.

The Eyes Have It
Depending on when you read this post I will either be waiting to go, at, or have gone, to my annual eye examination. Regardless I have once again put an hour in on the trainer. Time to lose the weight I regained since stopping my escapades on the road.

Bah, Humbug
Tonight is my company’s annual Christmas party. I’m being a Scrooge and not going this year. On reason is that it being held at Maggiano’s and will have a “Murder Mystery” play; I’m okay with Maggiano’s, but not some much with the entertainment.

So instead I’ll be eating dinner at DBA Barbecue, celebrating with locally-crafted beer and barbecue.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

    Weekend was pretty busy –
Saturday morning I walked to Publix to get some cash (almost 4 miles) and to get warmed up to hang the lights on the front of the house. Got those hung without killing any bushes with the ladder (I think). Fixed & replaced some of the lights on the back deck while I was at it.

Decided to go visit my “old” hairdresser in Johns Creek, hadn’t been there in probably 10 years. So, found some friends that lived up that way to have lunch to make my drive worth while.

Sunday morning went to Red Eyed Mule for very tasty biscuits – Allan worked on the roof (I barely helped, as there wasn’t much for me to do) & got the Christmas tree up & decorated. Made a side trip to the Hallmark store to get a Heat Miser ornament – now we have both (got the Freeze Miser last year).

Went to a Christmas concert last night – very enjoyable as for the most part it was all orginal songs.

Waiting to join a conference call. Spent the morning so far rising for an hour, because I committed to do so in today’s post, and listening to Zooey Deschanel sing Christmas songs. Elf reminded me how well Zooey can sing, as well as how much I adore here.

I have never done one of those Murder Mystery play things but I think it’d be kind of fun. 🙂 I reckon you’d have to be in the mood for it though.

When I got up this morning my cable was out so I decided to go back to sleep for a while (morning routine being watching the tube while drinking a couple cups of coffee)… oh, was that ever decadent! Of course, then I seriously didn’t want to get back up again and definitely didn’t in time to make my lunch. So now I’m craving BBQ because of you — have never been to DBA; how does it compare to Fox or Sweet Auburn?

It’s on par with Fox Bros, and I like it better than Sweet Auburn.

Found out today that my optometrist, who I’ve seen for over fifteen years, is a cyclist.

    Good afternoon all.

While Paulie is having his Christmas party tonight, we are having an annual Technical Services (my group) meeting today. We got word there would be an evacuation drill during it, but got exempted, but it didn’t matter, as the presenter at that time had to contend with the alarm sounding- which she could not overcome. It was pretty funny.

A wonderful time in Dooly County. I couldn’t find enough warm clothes Friday to ride in and still be warm enough at the stops (they tend to stand around a lot at times) so I rode along with the host on his Gator. I was also tasked with taking pictures, and got some really good ones, one of which was put up on the national foxhunting FB page. Some I might have to get framed- but it was a great morning.

15 years and you didn’t know he was a cyclist? That is not very observant of you. Hah! See what I did there? I’ll be here all week.

  8. Barb says:

my optometrist is a cyclist too – he lives in Allan’s parents (someday former) neighborhood. Allan’s Dad has tuned up his bike before.
I’m guessing it isn’t the same guy – as his office is in the heart of East Cobb.

  9. My guy is in Colony Square. Which you all might also recognize as the home of the Goethe Zentrum, where I am taking German classes. While there I registered for the next quarter of classes.
