I know Atlanta was built by the railroads, hence its former name of “Terminus”. However, have you ever wondered why the city didn’t also build along the Chattahoochee River? Rivers are always considered to be a limited, yet highly desired resource. Imagine what this area would be like if we had a riverwalk along which one could run, ride, eat, shop, etc.

The rain went all around East Atlanta, giving no respite to Wee Little Farm, and leaving nothing but hot, humid weather behind. Because I saw a lot of rain on the radar I didn’t ride last night, opting to make dinner at home instead.

Wordle: six, my starter was ASTER. It’s been a tough Wordle week for me. The only good thing about having a shitty Wordle day is that I am not disappointed when everyone does better than I did.

Wordle in 4 and almost 3.

At one point driving home, I noticed the car thermometer showed 100 degrees. I could see rain on the horizon and just missed some at home, where the temp was 83! The current owner of JEFDSDR posted pictures of her horses taking shelter from the pouring rain, and I thought we would get some. Nary a drop that I could tell- it just vanished.

Nothing else exciting around here. Trying not to have to go back to Miami!

  2. Helping Betsy get a rental car. Near YDFM, trying to figure out where I can eat breakfast.

  3. Steve says:

Is the cafeteria at YDFM open for breakfast?

I would always go to Old Hickory House in Tucker!!

    • I don’t think the cafeteria every reopened after Covid. 🙁

The winner is Waffle House! I didn’t want to go to Waffle House, but I’d rather eat here than try to get free parking in Decatur for Folk Art.

      • Steve says:

That shows how long it’s been since I’ve been in YDFM. I do think about them whenever I get in that neighborhood. Baked goods and fresh fish!

      • I probably could have parked behind Folk Art for free, but didn’t want to go over there to find out that I was wrong.

    wordle in 6 as well……….

my excitement yesterday was getting the new ice maker installed so we can again have ice in our freezer. What a deal – $525, but cheaper than a whole new fridge.

Also a little grocery shopping. And laundry, and some cleanup.
Today I need to get on more cleanup.

Allan is working on the yard.

No tomatoes – I think the critters have discovered them – as there are just so very few on the plants – I think they steal them.

The number one criterion over and above all things when I buy a fridge is that it has to have two ice makers: one in the door and one in the freezer. Between the two of us we run the ice makers dry because we both drink a gallon of ice water every day. And then there’s bourbon. LOL!

We thought the ice maker in the new fridge at the cabin was broken but then we discovered that we were just using all of it and it took a while to make more.

      • I’m just the opposite, I don’t want anything on the door. My refrigerator is over fifteen years old, so I’m sure I will be disappointed the next time I need to buy a new one.

      • Barb says:

Its just in the door – and I didn’t realize how much ice we used until we don’t have it

      • Jenka says:

At work we have an industrial ice maker and I fill my water jug at least 10 times a day full of ice. I can’t live without it!

A quiet night at home last night eating leftovers for dinner and watching three episodes of Somebody Feed Phil. One of the episodes was in Boston and I made a mental note of a couple of the places to try next time I’m there.

Working from home again today, woot! Tonight we have tickets to the United game. I got an email from Atlanta United saying I was picked to receive an autographed item tonight and it looks legit but I am hesitant.

    • With this team I doubt the item will be worth any more than the resell value of the items on which the autographs are written. I’m a ATLUTD hater this year, sorry.

      • Jenka says:

Well they sent the email, to which I responded asking where to go to pick it up, and they have not replied. So I think I am just going to ignore.

The team sucks this year, I just like to watch sportsing.

    • Bob says:

Must be a lower level thing, I received no email for our second level seats 🙂
I’m guessing tonight won’t be very crowded given Atlanta sucks right now and they are playing Chicago. Should be fun anyway.
Have fun at the game we will wave from our upper deck seats!

      • Jenka says:

They finally did respond, I’m supposed to go to the Centennial Suites before the game. I will most likely throw out whatever it is, but I am curious!

I will wave back to you! Better bring oxygen!

  7. Jenka says:

Also, they didn’t build along the river because the Chattahoochee is not part of a network of rivers that could take goods and people to other places. Cities built around rivers did that because the river was their lifeline for goods and trade.

  8. Back from my morning excursions. Sadly YDFM failed me as they inexplicably had no cherry tomatoes! I didn’t plant any cherry tomatoes this year, and I need some for the appetizer that I am bringing to Barb’s on Friday.

  9. This week I’ve been watching a show on BritBox called “Make it at Market”. Though the air date of these episodes says 2023, I can’t help think that the shows were recorded in 2021 since everyone stands so far away from one another when having conversations.

Shopping for a new bike, looking to jump in to the e-mountain bike world with all the other cool kids. The problem I’m running in to now is the deeper I go the deeper it gets with bikes. There are SO many options out there it is really hard to decide.

  11. What was supposed to be a quick trip into WLF turned into thirty, sweaty minutes. I noticed that a couple of eggplant had been gnawed/eaten, and that the critter(s) also ate a small bit of a large, green bell pepper. Fuckers!

So, a harvesting I went! I pulled in three undamaged green bell peppers, a few green tomatoes, a jalapeño, and a couple of okra pods. Additionally, I determined a handful of tomato plants were underperforming, so they have been eliminated.

I am making a list of things that won’t be in WLF 2026, if such a thing happens.

  12. Once again WordPress has shit the bed, and I am not getting timely emails regarding your comments, hence my delay (today).
