I went to The EARL last night to see the band Deep Sea Diver perform to a sell out crowd. It was a good decision as I had a really good time, even though I was flying solo.

My Amazon shorts are to be worn this Saturday when I volunteer for the first time with Concrete Jungle. While I have no idea what work I will be doing, I know it will be done at Doghead Farm here in Atlanta from 10:00-13:00, so it will be hot. I’m looking forward to seeing how an intown farm looks/works.

Happy 60th birthday to ITP-Reader Barb! Assuming I make it to next Tuesday, I’ll catch you again then.

Though there have been many failures in Wee Little Farm this year, there have been some triumphs as well. Yesterday I ate the first fig ever to reach ripeness in WLF! To be fair, there was a fig tree in the backyard when I bought the ITP Estate, but I was never able to beat the birds/squirrels/rats/whatever to them before reaching ripeness. The fig tree from which I ate the fig, two actually, has been grown from a cutting I took from a tree in East Atlanta about three years ago. Woot!

Wordle: three, my starter was SLIDE

  1. I just deleted “The War on Cars” from my list of podcasts. In their latest episode they had nearly seven minutes of ads and promotions prior to the start of the content. I don’t know exactly how much there was, since I stopped playing and deleted the podcast before they finished.

I slid out of work a hour or 2 early as there wasn’t much happening and I had worked the 5th. Of course, I got a call while driving home!!

A bit of mowing before a delicious dinner of talapia and stir fried veggies. My last solid food, as today is colonoscopy prep day! yippee.

A friend is on the Hautacam for todays’ stage. He reported yesterday that it’s like Pasadena the night before the parade. Everyone camped out and partying.

our work email did a formatting update – changed a whole lot of stuff, and there isn’t enough contrast – not as much bold, can’t hardly tell what’s been read & not read.
    We get TONS of emails.
My eyes suck anyway, and this is really straining my eyes & making me think too hard – not a good way to turn 60 & not feel super old.
ARGHHHHHHH – I may be grouchy today

There was choring yesterday, as well as a delicious dinner of talapia and stir fried veggies. Today is no food day, in prep for the colonoscopy tomorrow!

I have a friend on the Hautecam for today’s stage and he said last night it was a huge party.

The United game was good, it ended 2-2 but we had to leave before Atlanta scored a goal so that was disappointing. I forgot to claim my autographed item, but I’m not upset about it because it was probably something dumb. We got to the stadium just when the club opened but as soon as we cleared stadium security they closed access to the hallway because the players were arriving. So we went upstairs and walked aaaaaaaallllll the way around to the other side on the concourse, then got to the club entrance at the top of the seating section, and had to walk aaaaaaalllll the way down the 100 level seating section to field level to get into the club the back way. By that time I was completely distracted.

In the office for the last day before vacation. I’m working tomorrow too, but it will be at home. 🙂

Also, Bob will agree with me when I say that the stadium was like 2/3 empty.

      • I’m sure, Atlanta seems to be a very fair weather fan base, for all of its sports. The Braves’ inexplicable ability to have a decent team, though this year may be an exception, has hidden a lot of this.

To be clear, I believe all sports are incredibly overpriced so I really don’t blame people for not wanting to spend a lot of money to watch an inferior product.

    • Didn’t you just get back from vacation? 😛

I missed the game because I was at The EARL. The one time I checked it was 1-0 for Chicago. ATLUTD spent all that money on goal scorers, neither of which have done Jack shit this season.

Sorry to have been repetitive today. I blame the blog master…

And a very happy 60 today, Barb!!

  9. Back from laundry and Kroger. It’s so easy to spend money, and of course ERD Kroger didn’t have the beer in stock that I was looking to purchase. Dangen!

  10. I didn’t think it was possible to hate Ticketmaster / Live Nation more, but now every time I try to find out about a show which may interest me, it “pauses” my browsing or declares that I have another of their websites open in a different browser tab. Fuck. Them.

    • David says:

Yeah, and that whole bait-and-switch about $38 tickets to see Paul McCartney, there was like single row of those around the top ring of State Farm Arena. By the time I got through the presale queue, all tickets were $600 or more each. Eh, no thank you. Ticketmaster definitely makes things feel like we’re back in the USSR for sure.

  11. I think that it’s Game Over for this year’s TdF.

    • Steve says:

Yeah, he rode like a man possessed… I was actually having to WORK, so didn’t pay as close attention as I would have liked. Damn job.

  12. Bob says:

Atlanta United game was OK last night. Seems like ATL just cannot match the intensity of the other teams, they seem lethargic. They were lucky to get that second goal to get a tie. And like Jenka said the stadium was really empty.
We took MARTA to the game, renovations are underway to spruce up the system before the World cup games. They have a LONG way to go! They are really putting lipstick on a pig, stations may look a little better but the service still is questionable.

got my birthday pizza fix at lunch – tonight we are going to an East Cobb dive bar for a few drinks.
