Not much to report other than what I mentioned I did yesterday โ found RoadID, put away camping gear, cleaned my road bicycle, and sowed some seeds for Fall.
It looked as if there were plenty of seats available for last night’s meaningless Atlanta United Leagues Cup game.
More of the same today. Also, hoping to make some shishito pepper salsa today.
Wordle: four, my starter was ANISE
6:20am and my loaf of bread is out of the oven. I will be interested to see how it turned out, since I messed up the dough a bit when shaping the loaf. Rookie mistake.
More inconsistent bowling last night, first game was a 125 and last game was 223. Summer league is done so we have a 3 week break until fall league starts up. Maybe I should look in to a coach to help figure out what I’m doing wrong.
Fun fact about ATL United, last night at the end of the game they put in Cooper Sanchez. Cooper is from Roswell and he and Travis were besties all through elementary school. It has been fun following his career.
a bowling coach – it’s getting serious!!!
No shit! ๐
Well, thatโs cool, Atlanta United needs help, maybe they will play more United 2 players this season?
Yeah, ya know why there were plenty of seats available?
I made a tasty asian flavored stir fry with chicken and veggies and watched the Sox lose their first game after 7 wins. Today I have an all-day senior leadership retreat. Kill me now.
where’s the retreat? anywhere at least interesting?
I wish! Like all universities we are not allowed to spend money anymore since we’re looking at a $150 million shortfall from government grants. So it’s going to be in one of our regular conference rooms here in our building. At least we get lunch- most lunches are not allowed anymore.
The fact that it was a meaningless game, or the price of tickets?
The fact that the team is terrible. If the team was good, it wouldn’t matter if the game was meaningless or what the ticket price is.
Good point.
I was in a brain fog yesterday from getting up so early, 8.5-9 hours of sleep last night & I feel much better today.
Our friends Amy & Matt are back in country for a visit- Navy stint in Okinawa is done, they are moving to Sicily next. Their oldest is going to go to college down in Melbourne, FL – they are having fun getting that all set up, I guess she transferred her GI Bill money to the kids, but since he isn’t 18 yet, its making it complicated.
It was very fun catching up. I’m trying to talk them into meeting us in Croatia on the BRAG trip next year, I see there is still 1 cabin available.
and – Wordle in 4 –
Wordle in 4.
Jenka, I just completed our annual training on ethics, Records and Information Management, purchasing, and the employee handbook. You cannot kill me as I am already dead.
I took the recumbent over to Bear Creek last night. I handle it reasonably well, but it’s a twitchy SOB. I can barely take a hand off the handlebars. I rode a total of 15 minutes (wow) and can feel it a bit. Not sure if I want to make the effort to get into shape for that bike. We shall see.
And I’m taking tomorrow off because I can!
Planning for the trip to Pittsburgh for the Bugs Bunny at the Symphony concert and a glass blowing class almost complete.
-FP
there’s a guy in Mableton we met that said he’d give us a glass blowing class.
I really need to look into that –
This was just something random I found.. it looked like fun. I thought about touring “Falling Waters” but it’s 90 minutes away and we aren’t renting a car.
Bummer, because Falling Water is nice.
Yikes, Steve, I’m dead just hearing about it! ๐
Why are you taking training? I thought you were done next month? ๐
Due for all employees by the end of August! And I’m a good company man.
I was thinking that same thing Bob
Damn, I was too slow.
(insert blowing hot air joke here) ๐
Surprised you have to take a training course given that you are retiring soon. Seems like a waste of time and resources.
This is a PSA for not getting lazy about eye protection. I took mine off, and then proceeded to do some weeding and got hit in the eye by a tomato branch. Good thing it was a โsoftโ branch, so no apparent damage was done. Shame on me for wearing the eyewear while weeding another section of WLF, but not putting the glasses back on after wiping off sweat.
The bread is good! I will be cutting two slices in order to make a tomato sandwich for lunch.
we made some caprese salad with the 2 tomatoes I brought home from Iowa – dang they were tasty. I’m so bummed the critters stole all our tomatoes this year
The first, and probably only, wave of tomato plants have almost all been taken out. I think there are still four plants out there with a hope of producing tomatoes, assuming the critters donโt eat whatever they produce. Itโs almost hard to believe that I am getting ready for fall planting.
went to the Mexican place down by Kroger for lunch- they have these $10 lunch specials – that include the drink. Got soup & quesadilla (or 2 tacos) – hell of a deal – plenty of food.
AND – the health dept came in to do an inspection – right in the middle of lunch.
Thats very rude – a lot of customers were mad at the wait time to get food.
Our waitress warned us it was going to take a little while for them to catch up.
We tipped her extra.
Sure it was Health Dept and not ICE? Rude regardless.
definitely health dept – we saw a guy walking from Kroger with 2 bottles of bleach……
