Time Is Not On My Side

Damn the ability to shut off alarm clocks and go back to sleep! Damn 8:30am meetings! The confluence of those and my inability to get a headstart on today’s blog last might mean that this will be short.

Any Chigesstions?
This is the week of my first Chicago trip. If you lived or visited Chi-town please drop a suggestion into the comments telling me where to eat or drink. I’d sure appreciate it.

I Love My RealiTV!!!
Hell’s Kitchen has not let me down. They are down to the Final 4 and the remaining contestants consist of my favorite since the first episode, Heather, two dorks in Keith and Virginia, and the person I despise, Sarah. As they say, things are heating up in Hell’s Kitchen and I can’t wait to see how this winds up.

I am still trying to get into Big Brother. There is something about the fact that they don’t boot someone on every episode bothers me, although I guess it gives us more time to watch the interactions of the people progress.

I still refuse to give Rock Star: Supernova another chance. It’s just not my cup of tea.

What else should I be watching?

Stretching: The Truth
Now that I am exercising again I need to get back into stretching. Stretching used to be real easy when I would take spinning classes because I could use the bike as a balancing bar. After running I am so whooped and out in public so I don’t stretch. I am a very flexible individual and I know that in order to stay that way I should stretch both before and after exercising but I just don’t. Maybe I’ll start tonight after my run at George’s.

While I am asking for feedback, can anyone point me at a website with good stretches for running and bike riding?

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – Behind
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Jim Noir — “In The Key Of C”
Website Of The Day – Are you looking for recommendations about a plethora of different topics? (hmm, that sounds familiar) Well, if so give Listable a try to see if they can help you out. As for me I just don’t have the time, so could you help me out instead?

If you ever want a quick glance of the sites I’ve picked for my Websites Of The Day, you can check them out on del.icio.us, my user name is InsideThePerimeter (go figure), and they are all tagged as “blogged.”

Exercise (b)Log – running/walking 4 miles

Cheers,

Here is a interesting bar I went to last winter –
Cans Bar 1640 N Damen Ave Chicago, IL 60647
http://www.cansbar.com. It has 34 beers in cans (for the AH4 man that you are), but they do have other bottled selections. Interesting little neighborhood, went to an Italian restaurant that had no pasta just down the street. (not a tourist area, a friend had an apartment near there).

@Barb: Thanks! I’ll have to check that out.

@Amity: Ooh, good call. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with LCS in past years. However, I watched last night’s episode and enjoyed it.

Dude… You aren’t watching Treasure Hunters?!?

The Wiener Circle, 2622 N Clark St. I lived right across the street. Get a Char Dog with everything if you’re there for lunch. If you’re there for a 2:00 AM snack, the cheese fries. It’s about 10 blocks south of Wrigley on Clark St. They are known for their bad attitude, great dogs and other greasy food.

Ravens, 2326 N. Clark St. Great Bloody Mary’s for early Sat or Sunday and just a good all around bar.

Rush and Division is sort of a tourist, out of towner sort of old school Buckhead event. Stick to the neighborhood bars to get a real Chicago feel.

If only the Crash Palace was still around …

It’s been several years since I visited the Windy City–I remember a narrow bar/bowling alley spot that was cool. Or maybe it wasn’t, I was sort of drunk. No idea where it was or what it’s called. How’s that for details? Make sure to check it out!

Hell’s Kitchen–I am heartily ashamed of myself for enjoying that show as much as I do.

This bar is on my must-do list whenever I visit Chicago.

    Happy belated b-day!

  8. Amity says:

    Oh yeah, J, Treasure Hunters!

LCS isn’t as good this season as it was the last couple, but it’s still darn funny.

  9. Katlanta says:

Bring me back about a zillion pizzas. And the head of Alfredo Garcia. Tell the Irish Mob I said hi.

  10. Sam says:

So—Last night I made my nightly cup of Godiva hot coco, got in bed, took my Ambien, and checked my TiVo on to see what it recorded for me. I discovered ‘Shipwrecked’ on BBC America. I only remember the first 15 minutes or so, but from what I recall—it was good.

Then I got up this morning and realized I deleted the episode—NO recollection of that, or of the other 45 min. of the show—at least I didn’t drive or binge eat….. Maybe the premier episode will repeat……
The parts I remember seemed promising.

In this new reality competition series, two groups of 18-23 year-old castaways are left stranded, divided across two islands in the Aitutaki Atoll in the South Pacific. Each week a new castaway arrives. The two island tribes try to woo the new castaway to join their tribe. The island with the most inhabitants at the end wins a huge cash prize to be divided among the group. The trick is to have the most tribe members, but not so many as to divide the cash prize too many ways. Shipwrecked Premieres July 26th at 9pm et.

Mr. FP and I also caught Shipwrecked last night. Even the reality-phobe FP gave it a thumbs up. Those British accents made the diff I’m sure. He immediately said, “we need to tell Paulie about this one.” You know you’re loved when everybody pushes their junk tv faves on you!

  12. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

HA HA. I guess it’s time to DVR “Shipwrecked”
