Here And There, But I’d Rather Be There Than Here

It Never Fails
When I walk into a bar with a beer in mind more-times-than-not the bar does have any of said beer on hand.

Last night’s letdown was the 5 Seasons Glenkevin “Wee Heavy” Scotch Ale recommended by Susan. Upon returning with the bad news I was startled when the waiter suggested a Terrapin Wake & Bake in its place, to which I quickly told him that even though I enjoy Terrapin’s beer, when at 5 Seasons I want to drink 5 Seasons’ beer. While there I consumed one of 5 Seasons’ Delerium Dubbel and one of their Seven Sisters Munchner.

In the end I enjoyed the beers I consumed and the company of the many Flickrites who showed up for the event.

Good-Bye Grinnell
It was inevitable. On that formerly-deserted and recently-gentrified stretch of Highland Avenue that separates Inman Park from the Old Fourth Ward stood.

Grinell Company

While passing the shell of the old building the other morning I noticed that the name plate (there must be a architectural term for this portion of a building) had been removed, thus altering the face of my landscape forever. Too bad for me. There was something about this old remnant that really struck a chord with me.

Farewell LiveJournal
My LiveJournal membership is up on Sunday and I’ve decided to not renew. I used to syndicate this blog over to LJ so that people over there could read, but when my move to WordPress occurred I decided to stop that syndication. Will I miss LJ? Perhaps, but probably not.

Pick A Pick, Any Pick

I have mixed opinions about this shot. What says you? You can be very critical, I can handle it.

Hello MyDomainNameAddiction.com
Yesterday I added a new domain name to my stable of domains. In addition to

I have added www.StopDropAndPoop.com to the fold. Currently it doesn’t point anywhere, but soon it will take you here.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – meh
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The Jesus & Mary Chain — “Just Like Honey”
Website Of The Day – About regrets I have a few…. Actually this Regrets is a cool public artwork and study about the limits of human remorse and regret.
Exercise (b)Log – none, again

January Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight 205 lbs)
2) Run no fewer than fifty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at least three times a week.
4) See Manchester Orchestra in concert. [failed]
5) Read two books. [one down, one to go]

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

    Coupla things this am:

    1) You were paying for LJ? You don’t have to pay for LJ. You only have to pay if you want additional features and stuff (like more than three photos). I would think you could still be able to do that for your LJ friends?

    2) I don’t know why, but I always read “eatlga” as “eattelgah” in my head. Eattelgah. Hee. 🙂

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I was paying, it was necessary in order to syndicate. Now that you and Phil (who claims to blog) are posting outside LJ there are two fewer reasons for me to go there. 😉

There have been days when I’ve accidentally dropped the ‘l’ from eatlga and made it eatga.

  3. Steve says:

My dyslexia always kicks in when I see “eatlga” and I get eagle out of it. How about eATLga?

If you get closer to the toothpicks, you could loose their “toothpick-y-ness”. If you CAN get closer….

Hey Steve, I thought you were on vacation? Are you kids back already?

The capitalization of the website is anything I want it to be since the web is agnostic to case sensitivity.

I can now get closer to the toothpicks with my new macro lens. On that day that was the closest I could get and allow the lens to focus.

  5. Gentri says:

I think Steve has it, sometimes not seeing the whole thing is better, more mysterious… just ask the Victoria Secret designers, they’ve got that down.

That said, you certainly got the control of your field of focus aspect down.

  6. Stacy says:

Paulie: Phil doesn’t blog. BAH! I doubt if he even reads this one….

(yes, it’s a taunt to make him come play. Let’s see if it works)

  7. Steve says:

We got back yesterday- in time to do Georges last night, but were too whipped from sitting on a plane all day- it’s amazing to me how tiring that is.

We batted .666 on our entertainment- one lousy Sundance film (Year of the Dog), one good one (Clubland) and a good taping of the radio show “Says You”. And of course, great skiing.

  8. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

@Stacy: At this point I am wonder if Phil can read.

@Steve: Sounds like you had a great trip.

Don’t say good bye, say hello to the new and improved Grinnell Lofts

  10. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    From the 300’s? Holy shit!

  11. Martha says:

Yes, from the looks of it right now that might not be such a bargin.

  12. kalabron says:

I probably would be upset with the comments if I could read them.

  13. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I always wondered why Stacy read the cheat manuals to you. Now I know, you can’t read. 😛

  14. Stacy says:

Hahaha! Apparently, I can read but I’m slow. It took me a few minutes to figure out what the heck you meant by cheat manuals.

That and: come ON! It’s 8:30am already and no blog from you on 1/29 yet? What are we workday procrastinators to do??
