Not Quite What I Had Hoped

That statement sums up my Thursday fairly well.

I Know Who To Sue When I Get Skin Cancer
Of the things I bought to use up the remainder of my Flexible Medical Spending Plan the Burt’s Bees items, the Kleenex, and the Coppertone were all denied. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for the Burt’s Bees items although I contend that I use their products to combat dry skin. However the Kleenex and Coppertone are clearly medicinal; one cleans up after I sneeze and the other is applied to prevent sunburn and in the long term skin cancer. WTF is up with their denying those?

Unfortunately, I realized too late what I should have done. I should have purchased $100 worth of “real” medication and then returned it all to the store next week. Oh well hindsight is 20-20.

All is not lost however, because last night I stumbled across a $7 receipt that I do not believe that I have submitted. Seven dollars is not much, but it is my $7 and will buy me a beer at any local pub.

I took this shot last weekend whilst strolling through midtown.

A Postcard For The High

I like it because I was able to get many of the High’s elements all in one shot.

Not So High On The High
Last night’s “Members Only” gathering was more of an open house than a party. I think that I was a fault as I probably mis-interpreted the invitation sent to me. As I strolled around the High I notices something very odd. With the exception of a handful of patrons I was the only one seemingly under fifty, or perhaps forty-five.

All was not lost last night however. Last night I found a part of the High that I had never before explored. Had I not been overcome by hunger I would have spent a lot more time in it. I think that one of my new, unpublished, goals will be to spend more time at the High. The High might not be the best museum, but it is definitely the best museum in these parts.

I Think I’ll Need An Official Over Here
Survivor SPOILER WARNING!

You probably know that each week my friends Stacy and Phil are in a competition to pick who will get voted out each week. If one of us correctly chooses the person who leaves the island then that person gets to assign a song to the losers that the must purchase and load onto their iPod. This week my selection was Gary. Technically Gary was not voted off, however Gary is no longer in the game either. Does anyone believe that I have a leg to stand on by claiming a victory? For the record Stacy picked Lisi, and Phil picked Yau Man.

I thought that this was another episode that scored a “C”. Do you think that if Ravu had one the Immunity Competition they would have had a chance to take over Moto’s digs and vote someone off as well? I also thought it was amazingly stupid for Dre(amz) to call out who he thought were “unworthy” of staying.

I Can’t, But You May Want To
This Sunday is another Corned Beef Sunday at Twain’s. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend. If you have no plans for Sunday around 4pm I think that you should head over and eat a fantastic corned-beef sandwich while drinking one of Twain’s new microbrews. I doubt that you will be sorry that you did. If you are like me and must miss the March Corned Beef Sunday you may want to mark your calendar for April 15th, which will be the next time Twain’s will be hosting the corned beef Sunday. Hopefully I will have my taxes done by then.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – happy it’s Friday
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Sonic Youth — “Sugar Kane”
Website Of The DayLime was a fledgling TV network that never really got off the ground. However, they still broadcast on Sirius, have podcasts available and keep their website up to date; I found out about Lime via Joost. Speaking of Joost, I gave away my only two invite tokens this week. If you have a desire to join the Joost beta test community fire me an email to that address shown in the right-hand galley.
Exercise (b)Log – nix

March Goals
1) Lose two pounds. (starting weight ~205 lbs?)
2) Run no fewer than thirty miles.
3) Do twenty push-ups and fifty sit-ups at on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
4) Finish February’s book and read at least one more.
5) Take Marta to work at least ten times.
6) File my Income Taxes.
7) Wear “nicer” clothes to work at least one day a week.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I don’t think we ever said it had to be “voted off” specifically; it’s just whoever leaves that week. So, yes, I say you get it with Gary this week. Sheesh! did you really think we’d argue that much that you had to plea to the masses? 😉

And $7 should get you at least TWO brewskies!

  2. Martha says:

I have a couple of prescription receipts you can have but you may need to change your name to Paula so as to not raise any questions.

  3. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

@Stacy: You know I’m just kidding around, right. 🙂 I was going to let you and Phil decide on whether or not you wanted to get a song. I just threw it out to the masses for fun.

Also, I don’t think that $7 will get me two of the beers I normally drink. I could get two Miller High Lifes at The EARL, and have enough left over for a tip.

@Martha: I don’t think anyone wants to contemplate me going down that road. 🙂

  4. Barb says:

I hope they tell us at some point what was wrong with Gary. I’m very curious. That Ravu tribe is just sorry, but I like the little asian chick. She is awesome at the challeges, and then has to sit back & watch the others fall apart.

  5. Stacy says:

I know you were just kidding, P2. 🙂 Just givin’ ya a little shit this morning.

And Martha – oh my GOD I laughed out loud! Paulie, I can do the same for you and you probably wouldn’t even have to justify the name (what with my name being a male name and all too).

Hey – speaking of beer: next week Thursday? It’s a new month, ergo new glass at Taco Mac….

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    You all are too funny.

@Stacy: Heck yeah beer next Thursday!

  7. Elizabeth says:

Yes, $7 won’t go too far with the beers I’ve seen in Paul’s photostream on Flickr.

  8. beans says:

thanks for the Joost invite. a very interesting concept that could definitely be huge someday if it catches on.

  9. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

No problem. Joost definitely needs more content, but I am sure that they are working on that.

  10. Amity says:

The way that little message in a bottle was written, it was as if it was known ahead of time that Moto would win. I thought that was weird. Also, I’m surprized that Dreamz’s mouth didn’t get him kicked to the curb.

  11. I supposed that they had two bottles prepared, one for each team. Otherwise it would seem rather fishy.

If this was later in the game I believe Dreamz would have been booted. Right now that team still needs his athleticism.
