ITP Is Three? OMFG!

I now understand why women have never taken to me. They understand that I am an unfit parent who routinely forgets his child’s birthday. On October 8th my blog turned three and I completely forgot. I wonder if there is an age limit for becoming a priest, because I doubt that I will ever be considered for partnerhood again.

However I Do Have A Shred Of Responsibility
I returned to the world of live music last night, but had to leave before Pistolero’s set started. From the pace that I saw them getting set up I surmised that their set wouldn’t start until about midnight. Theoretically I could have stayed to see them, but there would have been no way in hell that I could have awoken for work in due time. Pity.

As for Warm In The Wake I was pleased. I was able to talk to WITW’s lead singer before the show, although I forgot to tell him the story of the CD store in Gainesville. The five-piece band played a tight set to what appeared to be mostly friends and family. I was impressed enough with the music to purchase their new disc, although admittedly I don’t think it will be in heavy rotation any time soon.

As for the Clermont Lounge, um, yeah. I understand what people have said all these years, and I don’t see myself going back any time soon. It was interesting to look around to see the people who were in the Clermont Lounge to see a band as opposed to those who were regulars of the club. Surprisingly the sound in the small room was quite good. I didn’t roam to all corners to see how the sound distributed, but from where I was standing all seemed clear and loud.

While walking through Chamblee from the Marta station to get my car I saw this in the window of an antiques store.

Air Canada

As an aside, what’s happening to the antiques market in Chamblee? Many of the establishments have closed. Are they all being pushed out due to the desire to erect one hundred more “mixed-use condo” developments?

Will It Be Stereotypical Tonight?
When last I inhabited the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club for brisket and beer before going to see a play at Horizon Theatre the temperature hovered around 100. Tonight I think that things may be a little different.

The last play my friend Stacy (the original “sans-‘e'” Stacy) and I saw there was “The Bluest Eye.” On that night the subject matter of the play seemed to draw an audience of exclusively African-American patrons.

Tonight Stacy and I will be seeing “The Water Coolers: An Office Musical.” It will be interesting to see the makeup of tonight’s audience….

I’m Calling It “The Costanza Theory”
The past two weeks I have proven that I am a terrible college football matchup picker (when accounting for point spreads of course). My average rate of correct picks has been about 33%. This week I picked all of my winners, and then reversed all picks. That’s right, I am doing exactly what George Costanza did in that one episode of Seinfeld — if every thing I do is wrong, then the opposite must be right.

To make sure that I really believed in my new theory I bet a co-worker that my picks will score more than his. The winner will get a free lunch next week.

Who knows what else this can be used on? “Hi, my name is Paulie and I have not had a date in over a year. I like to drink a lot of beer and constantly whine about my weight. Would you like to go out for dinner?”

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – bothered but looking forward to this weekend
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Ted Leo & The Pharmacists — “Sons Of Cain”
Website Of The Day – To wrap up what has turned in to Education Week at ITP I present to you Better Explained.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Monthly Mileage – 5 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car

October Goal
1) Find happiness

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Hmm… I liked WITW’s EP though. That’s about what I expected of the Clermont.

Happy (belated) anniversary. Seems like only yesterday…

Oh, and the other Stacy is now officially also sans “e”…so maybe now she’s the Stacy formerly known as Stacey?

  5. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

    Thanks!

I have seen Stac(e)y once since the change of name. It made it harder than normal to send her an email last week, but I actually managed to get the proper new spelling.
