I’ve mentioned the Blu-Ray v. HD-DVD war before and the fact that I made a dumb move and purchased a player for the now-dead format (HD-DVD). Congratulations to Blu-Ray; it will be a long time before you see a dime of my money. I will hold on to my soon-to-be HD-DVD paperweight and use it until renting HD-DVDs is no longer an option.

My trouble is I analyze life instead of live it.

Coughing And Rough Breathing — What A Joy!
2008 flu, day ten. This stopped being funny days ago. My sleep has barely provided me with enough rest to get through each day. Today I woke up to inflamed nostrils and a cough that has lingered for at least four days. While I did manage to cover five miles last night, it was extremely difficult. Having a hard time breathing might have had something to do with that…
This has been the type of illness that you’d only wish on your greatest of enemies.
If I Woke Up That Must Mean There Is A New Problem In My Life
In the mail yesterday I received a check from the Federal Government. Normally this would be a good thing, but this time it is not because it is for the amount that I sent them in January as part of my estimated tax payment for 2007. Why? Why don’t they just keep the money? I know that come April 15 they will want it all back and will probably attempt to assess me a penalty for not paying is sooner. But I did! Why did they send it back? Why do I have to have yet another thing on my plate to deal with today? I really need to catch a break soon before I go off the deep end (if I haven’t already).

Along with the rest of my life my photography is suffering. I have had little time to shoot, and my Master Plan for digital workflow and backups has been slow to implement.
I wish finding help was as easy as pushing a button.
Book Or Abridged Audio Book: That Is The Question
Recently I found out about the book “Michael Palin Diaries, 1969-1979: The Python Years.” It’s available as a book and an abridged audio book read by Palin. Although the audio book is abridged there is a much better chance that I will find the time to hear the book before I will to read the book.
From what I understand Palin kept a detailed diary of his life (a pre-blogging blogger) and has put ten year’s worth of his writings into this book. You may know about my joy with all of the things that Palin has done post-Python so I’m interested to find out about his professional formative years.
Brother Can You Spare A Yuengling?
Dammit! I should have known that if I didn’t put the Yuengling I am to deliver tonight into my car immediately when I thought about it I’d forget. And I did. Steve, I will make all attempts to leave work early enough to swing home before going to George’s tonight. If I cannot make it home first then the Yuengling’s will be free.
And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – frazzled
Current Music – listening to the “News From Lake Wobegon” podcast
Website Of The Day – WikiHow is the how-to manual that you can edit. I wonder if there is an entry for getting one’s life back on track.
Exercise (b)Log – running, 5 miles
Monthly Foot Mileage – 36.7 miles
Monthly Wheel Mileage – 0 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car
Monthly Marta Rides – 0
February Goals
1) Run no fewer than 75 miles
2) Ride Marta no fewer than ten times (five round-trips)
3) Read at least one book
Cheers,

Why did you pay the IRS early in the first place?
Well, let’s try to come up with some positives… like, for example, you soon should be able to find extremely low-priced HD-DVD movies in the discount racks of stores and/or Amazon (Ebay, Half.com, etc.) as people try to get rid of them to go Blu-Ray. Not bad for a nice home movie collection. Sure, you’re stuck with what’s already available – but there are some good titles out there now if you’re in to building a home video library.
And it sounds to me like it’s time to suck it up and go to the doc, dear! A 4-day cough is what finally drove me in, only to be diagnosed with bronchitis. Go now before it pneumoniaizes (sure, it’s a word… in my world).
Don’t worry about the Yuenglings; they’ll still be good next week! Trust me, there is no danger of Steve running out of beer in the meantime.
Sorry the flu is still kicking your butt and I second Stacy that it’s time to see a doc.
@Barb: To avoid penalties. I will owe a lot of money this year and because of that I wanted to pay within the “tax year” earned.
@Stacy: No time for doctors now. Besides with the track record I’m having with billing departments it’s only going to lead to more problems. I’ll let time either heal me or kill me, at this point both are acceptable options.
As for the movies, I don’t subscribe to buying videos regardless of the cost. I rarely watch a movie more than once. My Christmas videos are probably the only exception to that…
@Debbie: okie dokie, I won’t race home for the beer then.
Wait a minute… don’t I get a say in this?? OK, don’t rush home so you can bring me one of my favorite beers for an almost week overdue Valentines Day present from my loving and thoughtful bride. That’s OK, I’ll just suffer along…
(snif…. )

Oh my goodness, perhaps you can drown your sorrow from your already over-stuffed beer fridge in your very own man cave, you poor dear. 🙂
Who knew that my forgetfulness would cause marital strife?
Wow, Debbie… he’s got that guilt trip down pat, doesn’t he? 😉
And here I was contemplating breaking into the ITP’s place tonight to steal the unprotected Yuenglings. I can only imagine the havoc that would cause now!
Oh I never said that they were unprotected…. 😉
Attention all you photo geeks, photo OP tonight 10pm-ish!!!!

there probably plenty enough to be annoyed with, but don;t let the IRS SENDING you money back be the thing that drives you over the deep end
It’s that I know they will want it back. Now I have to find out why they returned it, and make sure that they do not penalize me for non-payment.
I would be ecstatic if I thought, for even a moment, that I could keep my money.
