Friday Re-Do

I just scrapped a lot of “lonely me bullshit,” no time for that these days. Instead I’ve taken the time to drive to Trinidad, Colorado to shop at Wal*Mart (sad, but true) because I needed a few things.

Here’s another in my series of Colorado Landscapes.

And this one has animals…. 😉

Intermittent Internet Drives Me Insane
For the third night out of four the hotel’s internet connection has had “issues.” This time the signal is weak and occasionally drops out.

I know I have an internet addiction. I admit to all that I have an internet addiction. Hell, I’ve not turned on a television in the past five days (don’t tell my employer) because I’ve been getting my entertainment via podcasts.

I will as far as proclaim that I’d rather have a good internet over a comfortable bed. That’s how much internet connections mean to me.

Let The Hashing Begin!
But before it does, I’ve driven to Trinidad to make a few purchases. I incorrectly assumed that Walsenburg, being situated along I-25 and fairly “large” on a map, was more of a town than it really is.

Here’s what I bought
– A new 160GB portable hard drive. The intent was to purchase a new 4GB CompactFlash card, but one of those was half the price of the hard drive. And since it was my intent to back up the 12GB of photos that I’ve already taken on this trip, this will do the job nicely.

– A(nother) runner’s water bottle, because I didn’t think to pack one.

– Some long running pants. I didn’t read the trail descriptions prior to packing and apparently we will be running through some cacti tomorrow.

Have A Great Labor Day Weekend Everyone!
I’ll be back on Tuesday with a blog entry.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – tired, but no longer feeling sorry for myself
Current Music – silence as I am sitting in a coffee shop
Website Of The Day – As I write this John McCain has picked a woman for his Vice Presidential running-mate. Come November this country’s history will change dramatically. I am sure that The History Channel is already getting their ducks in a row in preparation for the election.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Monthly Foot Mileage – 5 miles
Monthly Wheel Mileage – 50 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – n/a 🙂
Monthly Marta Rides – 0
Consecutive Days Of Bed-Making (Longest Streak)27 (110) on hold because it’s not my job.
Books To Read To Earn Kindle – 4

August Goals
1) Run/Walk no fewer than 75 miles
2) Ride no fewer than 150 road miles
3) Ride Marta no fewer than ten times (five round-trips)
4) Read at least two books
5) Make my bed every day

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

I wonder which is worse, running through cacti in shorts or plopping your arm in a nest of fire ants during bootcamp?

I think the cacti sounds worse, but since you aren’t going to do it in shorts, I win this round.

Have a great weekend and a CO beer for me!!

  2. Yet another good reason for me not to do bootcamp. 😛

    Now for my turn….

My iBook has two USB ports. The hard drive I bought to do backups requires the use of both USB ports in order to work. Argh! Now I can’t plug anything else in. The iBook’s hard drive is too small (30GB total) to copy photos to its drive first and then to this hard drive. And with no ports available I can’t plug a card reader in and copy photos from it to the hard drive either. If the Wal*Mart from which I bought it wasn’t thirty-five miles away I’d return the damn thing immediately.

and that is why I let you boys take care of the technical stuff.

B can’t understand how someone in my field knows pretty much nothing about computers. He sent me a nice long email detailing what steps I need to take to address an error message I’m getting on my home computer….I actually heard the peanut adults talking as I read it…

My new camera comes today (I hope) just in time for tomorrow’s silliness. Hopefully, I will not encounter any technical difficulites.

Side note, I sent out an email about starting up the Sunday Run’s again next month … I think it’s time to start picking up Mondays also… those big runs will be here before we know it.

12GB of photos already?!?! I don’t envy you the time and effort you’ll spend downloading, processing and backing up – but I bet you’ll end up with more than a few “frame-worthy” pics. Have a great time InviHashing.

  5. The photo count is about 700. I have been shooting JPG and RAW so that’s why I am up to 12GB. I am sure that once I return home I will delete a bunch that are out of focus, duplicates, or boring.

I’ve figured out laboreous way to do my backup here, so I’ve opened a Fat Tire to make it enjoyable.

Have fun Invihashing, I know you’ll make the most of it!! I don’t particularly care for Ska Brewing…….you had it at Monarch, I do believe. I much preferred the pig growler from Frisco!

Love all your scenery pictures thus far.

Marty and I are heading down to Grayton Beach for the week (as long as Gustav doesn’t kick us out)! Raiding Allen and Barb’s garden first! 🙂

  7. I’m not the biggest Ska Brewery fan either. Since I’ve already paid for it, I’ll drink it.

It should be an interesting InviHash. Of course it won’t be the same without you, Marty, Can’t Say No, and Head Eunuch, but I’ll find a way to get over it. 😉

When they arrive tonight I’ll let Barb and Allen know that their vegetables have been taken care of properly.

  8. Gentri says:

12 Gb is trucking along. Why the RAW format dups AND JPG? You’ll be able to print posters LARGER than the scenery at those sizes!

Have I mentioned that moving sucks? No? Well it does! But this house is gonna rock… eventually!

    Have a great Hash!

  9. My iBook is incapable of processing the D300’s RAW files, therefore in order to post anything to Flickr I need to have the JPEGs. I want the RAWs to edit when I get back home.
