Summer Of Stress

As if I needed something else to stress me out, last night I received a text message from my co-hare telling me that her work is sending her to Europe and she’ll be unable to lay trail with me on the 18th of July. We are supposed to reccy trail for the first time tonight! Fortunately she found someone who can take her place, but the whole scouting of trail together a few times before the actual hash has now fallen to pieces. Why do I sign up to hare Black Sheep Hash again?

I Went To A Bar And A Run Broke Out
You probably think I made it to George’s last night. I did not. Instead I met up with my friend (not ITP-Reader) Steve (who, as I found out last night once date Insufficient Cums — small world, eh?) at Meehans Public House in Sandy Springs.

When I arrived in the parking lot I was amazed to see the front entrance littered with running-type people. Apparently local running store Phiddipides was holding its inaugural Meehans Pub Run 5k. Running and then drinking beer? What a concept!

I was a bit surprised to only recognize two hashers (Furry Balls and Maxwell Twat) at the event, and one girl who I used to see at George’s (a regular at the Reserved table, who had you seen her would understand why I remembered) back when I used to run.

While Steve enjoyed Meehans tradition of serving McSorley’s beer in two ten-ounce glasses just like they do at McSorley’s in New York we watched some of the runners come inside and head straight up to the upper level for their private party after their run. Some day I’ll have to scan the photo I’m in which was taken outside of McSorley’s back in about 1996/1997 (or was it 1998?).

Terri and Pat, if you happen to read this Meehan’s was a much better place than when we went to hear the REM cover band.

Hey Beer Man, #2
As Peachtrees go this year’s had very few people dressed up in elaborate costumes. This guy was one of three or so that I saw wearing something elaborate.

Trying To Find An Open Weekend Has Become Increasingly Difficult
I want to go camping one weekend, but weekends are all but accounted for over the next few months. I guess that I should have followed through on my threat to have my Black Sheep happen at a Georgia State Park.

The other day I highlighted High Valley Resort up in Suches, GA and would love to have a weekend of camping and riding up there before the weather becomes too cold again (September/October).

One Reason Adobe Irritates Me
A few months ago I bought Adobe‘s Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac. I installed the application on my home computer as well as the one I have at work. I didn’t feel I was violating Adobe’s End User Agreement by doing so and was pissed off to receive the following message yesterday.
Screw You, Adobe
In case you don’t want to click through to read the text on their error dialog, it says the following:

Licensing for this product has stopped working.

This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.

If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.

What a mess. Restarting my computer did not solve the problem. This may be a byproduct of the fact that I had to recover all of the data on this computer a few weeks ago, but regardless this is the only application which has this problem.

If I didn’t have a softball game last night…I would have been at the pub run. That would have been cool to see you there! 🙂
It might have been Kim you saw? I know she went.

Phidippides holds a run every Wednesday from their Sandy Springs location. Discounts at Meehans afterwards. Last night was their inaugural 5k pub run.

Going to be a scorcher today…..stay indoors! 🙂

  2. Barb says:

I’d volunteer Allan to help you lay trail on the 18th, but he is working. I’d be useless as a co-hare.

BTW – not sure what all Allan did besides unplug everything on the TV & tivo, etc., but it is working again – so we could watch the Tour on the big TV last night.

and – nothing says the 4th of July like a Beck’s costume – huh?

  3. Supersuck has committed to helping me if I can have everything scouted. This should be okay as long as all of my scouting goes well the next couple of days.

  4. Barb says:

you could have Bob show you the crazy Wheelhopper trail that seems much more Black Sheepish that Wheelhopperish up in Cumming….. 😉

  5. Martha says:

its been a stressful 12 hours for us…Jerry’s car wont start, my computer has a virus and my coffee grinder broke this morning (before I could get the coffee ground)…

On the plus side, it gave me an excuse to hit Dunkin’ Donuts on the way to the office today.

I saw Furry Balls and Maxwell Twat at Summerfest, I think they mentioned something about that run. To be honest I only hear about half of what she says.

If I don’t head home that weekend, I’m planning on attending your hash, so make it a good one 😉

  6. bob says:

I can show you the area but I never actually saw the first few miles of that trail. I was just a flour carrier that day. The stuff I saw was pretty good. 🙂

Barb, are you guys doing the GA 400 century or did you get a better offer?

  7. I spoke with Maxwell and Furry only briefly. I was trying to remember Furry’s real name so that I could have some manners and introduce him to Steve, but failed.

I know the (incredibly over-hashed, some of which used recently but I don’t care at this point) area I plan to use for this Black Sheep. I just wanted to be a lot more prepared than I was last year so that I don’t have a repeat of the five-snare snarefest that I produced last year.

  8. Barb says:

I have no idea what Maxwell & Furry’s real names are, and really don’t care to know.

Well – you can always pre-lay it, that would help to not get snared so much 😉

Bob – haven’t decided what we are doing Sunday morning yet. There also the Cheesy Tour De France Sunday morning run/bike at Enema’s…… and we had also talked of trying to go camping Saturday night somewhere. It is so damned early to get up for that ride, I mean, you have to be there ready to ride by 0630.

and Paulie – you didn’t do a shout out to Vandy Beth for winning her lawsuit. I saw her on TV last night.

  9. Yeah, we saw Vandy Beth on the news after Hell’s Kitchen the other night. I didn’t want to get into her situation here.

  10. bob says:

It’s funny how many people we know and have known for years that we have no idea what their real names are.

The GA 400 ride is definitely an early one. But that is the time I get up every day (Travis doesn’t know the concept of sleeping in yet). At least you will be done early.

Funny you mention camping, Laura and I talked about that this morning. I have not camped at all this year. I think I need to plan a trip, maybe go up to Twin Lakes in SC for a long weekend.

  11. Barb says:

Twin Lakes is always good, and we have also discovered that there are tons of places to camp at Lake Lanier (some with good beach areas) – and it is only 10-15 minutes to Chicopee. With Allan’s every third day work schedule, a 1 night camping trip nearby works out quite well for us.

  12. Sarah says:

I’m supposed to hare a BS trail in August… with Foreign Lesion… Oh lawdy why do I sign up for these things

  13. Terri (SW) says:

Hey Paulie! Just saw your post…was on a family trip last week (and, of course, in a World Cup daze for a month).

I’ve been to Meehan’s a couple of times before…once when some friends and I had “fish and chips Friday” during Lent when I was faking Catholicism. I do like the place…I just won’t see a show there again. BTW- Apparently The REMakes played Smith’s Olde Bar a couple of weeks back and we missed them. Oh well…
