Chores Were Meant To Be Delayed

Well, well, guess who didn’t do laundry last night… Take one guess as to what caused this.

Back To My (Taco) Mac
One coworker was set to achieve his Bachelors level status.
One coworker was set to achieve his Masters level status.
One of our favorite waitress was working. Or so we, and even she, thought.
She was wrong, so instead she sat with us and had some beer and received her Taco Mac t-shirt for drinking her thirteenth beer on her Brewniversity list.
And then there was me, who was there to add two, which turned into four, more beers to my list.

Needless to say that laundry lost out big time to having a fun time at the old Taco Mac and that any hopes of losing weight prior to next week’s trip to California for a business meeting is out the window.

While passing the time with no one to shoot last Saturday I managed to avail myself of the props on hand and snap a few photos with my iPhone 4.

This is one of a few shots that I’ll probably post to this blog.

Keeping My Fingers Crossed
It’s nearly three months since I was the supposed winner of a Le Creuset dutch oven a the Food Bloggers Forum event held on September 11th. I’d all but given up on ever seeing my major award. I tweeted about not being contacted, I tried sending the event organizer an email, and finally I posted a comment on the blog associated with the event. The other day I heard from the event organizer, apologizing for the problems and asking me for a mailing address. I won’t be certain of receiving the dutch oven until it arrives, but at least there is hope and I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I Really Do Plan To Start Running Again, I Just Don’t Know When
The desire exists. I’ve not made the time and the body has been real slow to recover from the hashing I did last Sunday. Let’s see, my elbow is still sore, my right knee has been troublesome, and my muscles have finally recovered. Enough with the excuses! Except for tonight….

So, depending on the timing of plans formulated formulated for today I may swing by George’s tonight to see if ITP-Reader Steve is around so I can return one of the two rightfully-his items I possess.

I have been trying to avoid that wine.woot website, I really don’t need to spend money on more wine right now. On that subject, we got more of the wine futures we bought last spring delivered this past week – I really can’t wait to see how good it is, it tasted so good back in March straight out of the barrel. I think we have received 4 of the 5 cases we ordered (and we did buy with another couple, so we only get half of each case).

We did nothing last night, except watch 4 (or was it 5) episodes of Dexter. Since we got Showtime with the U-Verse switch, I’ve just been saving up the season, I’m so used to watching it on Netflix and watching more than one episode at a time. I love that show, but you have to like blood & serial killers.

George’s……what a concept……. I wonder if Allan would want to shock the hell out of the few people we would know that still go to George’s by showing up down there tonight.

  2. Wine.Woot is dangerous, mostly because shipping is only $5 ($7 in the Summer). I’m starting to drink my cellared wine (some of which may have been in my cellar too long, believe it or not) so I need to replenish. And since I canceled my XBOX Live membership yesterday I have $50 to spend.

Whenever you are ready for a wine and cheese tasting, let me know, I’ll supply some cheese. 🙂

I’ve been doing the same with “Modern Family.” Though since I just downgraded my Netflix account to 1 disc, unlimited downloads, I need to watch and send back “Toy Story 3” so that I can have the next “Modern Family” disc sent to me.

Allan could pop into the VaHi station to see if Captain Banazak is working. 😉

it would be a Zinfandel tasting….. somehow we didn’t realize it, but most of what we bought were Zins. I guess since we like the Russian River area, and it is mostly Zin grapes, that would make sense.

Someday (in the next I’ll guess 6-12 months), we are going to make part of the basement into a real wine cellar. The temperature is pretty consistent summer & winter.

Let me know if you are going to George’s – Allan said maybe, he is on the way to Greenville, SC to pick up our new (to us) Big Green Egg today. We think/hope we got an incredible deal from a friend’s dad who says he is too old to deal with it anymore.

  4. Steve says:

You have 2 items of mine? I know of one…

It would be nice to see you, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Service!! I’m sure Allan will be thristy after that long drive to G’ville.

  5. Another Big Green Egg owner? (I would be but they are out of my price range) Cool.

Steve, I believe you are the rightful owner of the Polar heart rate monitor that is at my house.

I’m waiting to hear from Betsy to see what her timeline is for tonight. If I can swing by George’s I will.

  6. Steve says:

    Polar HR monitor? Whachutalkinbout, Willis?

  7. Well, someone lent me a Polar heartrate monitor (in a fancy-pants black plastic box) and I thought that someone was you.

  8. Barb says:

Paul – I wonder if that was from us? Allan’s dad gave me one once, I’m not sure where it is……. I never used it. Did you use it?

Steve – what time do the cool kids get to George’s these days?
He took TJ with him, they are rumored to be heavy.
And yes Paulie – the Big Green Eggs are WAY out of our price range, that is why when we got word of this almost free one, we figured it was worth the roadtrip.

  9. Steve says:

The crowd at Georges is much reduced from “the old days”. A group of us meet to run at 6, and I’m normally out the door by 8. Cool kids? Only if you, Allan and Paulie show up…

  10. Hmmm. Wish I had the heartrate monitor with me. If I did, I’d bring it to George’s (assuming I’m stopping by). I never took the heartrate monitor out of its box — that whole lack of riding thing. 🙁 I’ll take a photo of the box and contents to see if it jars someone’s memory.

Yes, BGE are very expensive and being thick ceramic are also very heavy.

  11. I’ll be at George’s 6:30ish. I’ll have to leave around 7:30ish.

  12. Barb says:

I want to go to George’s, so as long as Allan is in the mood, we will go. I havne’t had a George’s burger in forever. Plus, I just got my haircut, & it probably won’t look this good ever again.

BTW Paulie – what’s on your social calendar that you can only stay an hour? (I’m being nosey)

  13. I’m meeting Betsy and perhaps Terri at The Shed for sliders at 8pm, and then heading back to the house for Top Chef night.

  14. Barb says:

    Urban Meyers resigns….. (again)

  15. Yeah, I saw that on the AJC’s website. I’m not in the least bit surprised.
