Shorty

Who you calling shorty? Sorry kids, though my doctor’s appointment is not until 10:00am I managed to sleep late and screw around this morning making me way short on time.

I am far from perfect when it comes to spelling and grammar (I know that I will come as no shock to ITP Readers), but at least it’s not my job. Before heading to the lavanderia I decided to reheat some pasta for dinner instead of eating (meat) at Las Tortas Locas and for the first time read the directions on the (relatively) new microwave in the company break room.

I’d like to know how this slipped past the folks at Amana.
Apparently Amana's Spell Checker was InterRupted
Seriously, there are fourteen words in the instructions, how do you manage to let one of them be misspelled?

If I Keep Recharging Batteries Am I Really Saving Electricity?
Since first whining about have to recharge the batteries in my keyboard and trackpad often I started keeping a list (blog?)

Keyboard Battery Change
2011-04-24
2011-05-10 (battery low)
2011-05-15 (battery low)
2011-06-01 (battery low)
2011-06-17 (battery low)
2011-07-05
2011-08-23
2011-08-28
2011-09-08

Trackpad Battery Change
2011-04-24
2011-05-10
2011-05-15 (battery low)
2011-06-01 (battery low)
2011-06-17 (battery low)
2011-07-05 (battery low)
2011-08-23
2011-08-28 (battery low)
2011-09-08 (battery low)

I can’t explain the jump from 7/5 to 8/23, though I wonder if I forgot to record a battery change (or two) during that period.

Next on the testing block is taking a multimeter to the batteries to see what their “fully recharged” capacity is after recharging them.

Stats & Goals

Current Music – silence though I have managed to listen to two new CDs this morning — now I need to learn how to write reviews/critiques

Completely read the book Daily Negations which I received as a Christmas gift.

– Attend at least one professional photography workshop
– Enter no fewer than three photographic competitions / gallery showings
Ride in no fewer than five 50 mile or 50K bike rides
– Run in no fewer than two one half-marathon
– Submit at least one application under the name “Sharpened Stone” to Apple’s iOS store

You are approaching super nerd status 🙂

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

At least if I become a super nerd people will understand why I am unable to get a girlfriend. 😉

  3. Barb says:

okay- to reinforce Allan’s theory that white helmets (captains & above) destroy brain cells – the guy in charge (a capt.) decided that they wouldn’t take the first ferry at 0930, they would take the 2nd ferry at 1130. They are supposedly riding about 100 miles today, starting at now maybe by 1230, probably closer to 1pm. Does that make any sense? Oh yeah, and they were supposed to meet for breakfast starting at 0700 too.
It has been 2 weeks – Allan is so ready to be done & come home.
I have a feeling the bikes are not going to get much attention tonight.

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Hmmm, that sucks for him. I hope with time he’ll be able to remember the experience fondly, though it’s not looking likely.

  5. Steve says:

Bob, I think Paulie has achieved Super Nerd status and is working toward becoming their king.

  6. Barb says:

it has just been a lot of evening/night work – so part of the “fun” would be hanging out at dinner etc. with everyone, and he doesn’t get to do that most nights. And – 2.5 weeks is a long time with people that you don’t necessarily like 😉

  7. Steve says:

2.5 weeks is a long time with people you DO like!!

  8. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

It’s 10:20am. I don’t think my orthopedist will be honoring my 10:00am “appointment”. Unrelated, I am starving!

  9. Barb says:

Steve – you are so correct….. that is why it has turned into just counting down the hours/days…….

  10. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

It’s now 11:00am and I am STILL waiting to get in for my 10:00 appointment. What the fuck!?!? I have lunch plans so I skipped breakfast, which has made me even more irritable.

  11. bob says:

I freaking HATE when doctors make you wait. If you show up late they get all pissey but they can make you sit in the waiting room for an hour? BS

Barb, I was hoping I would get a reaction from Bruce when I posted on his wall about helping the help. I’m sure Allan is over it and ready to come home.

  12. Barb says:

Bruce has probably been the most helpful of anyone unfortunately that isn’t much…….. but he owes me after me running an errand for him yesterday.

I bother the front desk person after waiting “too” long – that annoys them, so sometimes they find a room, but that doesnt’ mean the doctor will ever show up.

  13. Martha says:

I’d rather stay in the waiting room, then have to sit half naked in the exam room. On the bright side the ortho won’t spend any time with you, so once he does show up, you’ll be on your way pretty fast 🙁

Anything fun going on Saturday afternoon, I’ve been informed my house will be overun with Bearcats. I’ll probably need to be some place, hell any place, else.

  14. Barb says:

Martha – I’m getting my hair done at the Aveda Institute in Buckhead Saturday until probably 1-2:00pm. We could meet up for a late lunch somewhere?

  15. Stacy Fox says:

Oh for the love of all that is holy! It took me forever and a day to find the misspelled word — and I went to school for that stuff.

  16. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

It’s understandable, you are clearly distracted by the thought if tonight’s Packers game. 🙂

  17. Steve says:

I would have glanced right over it had I not already known it was there. Someone clearly has too much time on his hands.

  18. Stacy Fox says:

Thanks, Paulie! That must be it! 😀

  19. Jenka says:

I just think it’s ironic that there’s a typo in the sentence about how your grammar is not perfect (“I know that I will come as no shock…”). Heh. Well played!

  20. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I told you I was bad at finding my own mistakes. 🙂 One of my problems is that I change the sentence mid-creation and don’t always go back and check the result.
