I Need A Shot Of Adrenaline

The funk persists and my energy level is at a near all-time low.

Today’s Personal Project
Get rid of this shit!

Today’s Daily Challenge
Leave one thing off your to-do list.

A too-packed to-do list can be tough on your mental health! Holding off on certain tasks can protect your happiness and well-being. Research shows that people who strongly value their social lives – versus choosing to spend extra time at work or on household chores – are happier. That pile of laundry will still be there when you come back for it tomorrow!

In-con-ceivable!

Monthly Recap: November
The month of November comes to a close today. I didn’t grow any facial hair for Movember, nor did I particpate in NaNoWriMo — National Novel Writing Month. In fact, I didn’t do much of anything productive (save work) this month.

Clearly the highlights of the month were camping at FDR State Park, and seeing the Raleigh Royalty over Thanksgiving.

Moving on…

Fun Time Celebrating BWanA’s 60th
I made it out of work about 7:30pm after helping build our latest Beta release for the product on which I’ve been toiling the past two years. By the time I got to Jill’s (aka “SuperSuck”) house (after finally remembering how to get to her street) the street was lined with vehicles. A party was on!

In the house was the typical assortment of hashing types, BWanA’s kids, and people who claim to know BWanA outside of the hashing realm (I suppose that it could happen). Also inside the house were trays of delicious Fox Bros BBQ food — pork, brisket, mac-n-cheese, and cole slaw. YUMMY! Outside the house was a keg of Coney Island Lager, into which I help put “a dent.”

During the evening I made sure to give birthday wishes to BWanA from the ITP-Readership.

I arrived home shortly after 11pm and promptly went to sleep. I believe that a fun night was had by all.

The New iTunes Is Here! The New iTunes Is Here!
Meh.

Apple barely kept their promise of delivering iTunes 11 “in November” (after not being able to keep the promise of delivering “in October”). I write software for a living, I understand that shit happens.

I downloaded the new version and have fired it up. It’s “different” but only in the way you get to the things you want to get to. Time will tell if this is an improvement over iTunes 10; let’s hope so.

Okay Wordsmiths, Help Me Out
Did the word “pair” ever mean “in proper order”? Here’s why I ask…

While walking past a fire hydrant this morning I noticed a sign which stated “Fire System Impaired At This Location.” Obviously we say something is “impaired” when it is not functioning correctly. And to fix the problem we perform a “repair.” See where I am going with this? Am I reading too much in to the words “impair” and “repair?”

Discuss..

A Big Weekend Ahead
Tomorrow starts a new month (the last month ever if you believe the Mayans). I am expecting it to be a momentous month for me. Already on the docket is a return to exercising, taking photos, and the official dissolving of Sharpened Stone, LLC (so that I can avoid the paperwork and fee fiascos next year).

The exercise assumes that the funk has been exorcised by then. The photography will happen, even if I have to take a photo of the huge number which will appear on the scale tomorrow when I weigh in.

Tomorrow night I’ll be picking up my buddy Mike and heading over to Terminal West for the Japandroids show. I’m looking forward to enjoying that, hopefully my body will be in repair.

Oh yeah, there is also some American Football Game played by “amateurs” happening tomorrow. I think that I shall steer clear of all that nonsense by driving up to the Perimeter Mall area and go into the office.

I need to send my apologieze to the host and hostess for not making it last night. I didn’t get out of work until well past 6, traffic was bad, I didn’t arrive home until after 7…I just couldn’t get my ass back out the door. By the time I got there, I would have had to leave. Bigwigs are in town for the holiday party tomorrow (which I can’t make) and as management I have to have lunch and such with them today…not a good day to show up tired and hung over.

Everyone have a fun and safe weekend, I hope I’ll be around on Monday to tell you all about mine!

  2. Stacy says:

I just squealed over the Advent calendar! I totally remember them from my childhood (with little pieces of chocolate on each day!). I’m bookmarking that! Thank you!!

  3. Barb says:

not a wordsmith…… can’t help you with “pair” question.

looks like our Saturday will be filled with working in the back yard.
Allan wants to plant some Leyland Cypress along the back fence, to block some of the view from the culdesac. Then – if you have heard about our saga with Cobb County & how you can’t drive or park on gravel this will make sense, we will be starting to install some pavers that are wheel width apart from the culdesac to where we “might” want to park a vehicle.
Fun times, but at least the weather should be nice.

And – no mention of the Falcons winning last night? what kind a football fan are you?

  4. Steve says:

Was there even a football game last night? I can’t tell you, except the FB was lit up with comments late. I only know this as I looked this morning- our modem seems to have gone south and the Internet was not an option at the Day Spa.
Glad it was still on while I was trying to work from home.. hey, maybe I broke it? Nah….

It will be a short weekend for me, having to work the race on Sunday. Hopefully I can get a ride in tomorrow. There was something else, but I can’t remember now.

The update on Farley is he’s back home, on 6 weeks of “bed rest” and isn’t supposed to play with the other children- don’t want him to start horsing around. And I was incorrect about the bill- “only” $2k for the orthopaedist and scan.

Paulie, hope you’re feeling better. Maybe you can bring your camera out to the cross race Sunday.

Martha, good luck at Pine Mountain!!!

  5. Steve says:

Oh, the question of the day. I looked up “pair”, “repair”, and “impair” in the OED and none have the same root. Just an OCD annoyance!!

  6. Barb says:

and Steve – have fun in the land of as Allan calls it “Stepford Wives”. He says Serenbe scares him – too many happy smily people.
I kind of like it down there, to visit of course.

  7. Steve says:

Come on down Barb… just don’t drink the water.

  8. Barb says:

I got shit to do Sunday – probably no time for Serenbe. Though – the margaritas at The Hill restaurant were pretty tasty one afternoon.

  9. I’ll probably be working seven-days-a-week for the next few weeks in an effort to make it a Merry Christmas for me (read “keep my boss happy”).
