Recovery Day

Because of the preacher curls I did yesterday my biceps are burning. At points last night I swear I woke up from the pain my biceps felt as I tossed and turned. It’s okay, because it’s a “positive” pain. πŸ˜‰

If not for the pulled groin muscle (or whatever) that I gave myself yesterday I would have been back at LA Fitness this morning doing some more cardio. I briefly thought about attempting a walk, but the 35° F outside kept me under the covers. Unfortunately this delay also allowed me to hear the critters which inhabit my house as well. Note to self: This Spring you must get nearby tree branches removed, and plug any holes in the house.

Today’s Personal Project
Keep reorganizing my life, start planning home renovations.

Today’s Daily Challenge
Eat one calcium-rich food today.

No matter what your age, your body needs calcium for building and maintaining healthy bones! Without sufficient calcium, you can develop osteoporosis, a condition that causes bones to become brittle and break easily. Calcium also helps your blood clot and plays a role in maintaining your heartbeat.

Are PopTarts calcium rich? No? Dangen. Unfortunately I started the day poorly by eating two PopTarts (one package) for breakfast. At least I have the rest of the day to recover from my morning sin.

ITP Flickr Pic
Up, up and away! The only other shot taken with the D300 in Saturday that the public will see. Many things will change in 2013, taking an über-critical eye to my photography and limiting what gets seen will not.
Up And Away
I still have not pulled the photos from my Nikon 1 V1 — I am awaiting the delivery of my new multi-format flash reader/writer.

Look At Me, I’m Reading
I’ve started this year off with the “More time reading; less time television watching” attitude that I’ve tried to take in many of the past recent years. So far I am doing well. Sure, I shan’t give up my football, Modern Family, or Top Chef, but right now I am concentrating on “The Design of Everyday Things” by Donald Norman — a book I’ve had in my collection for some time.

A One-Time Return To RPS Tonight
It’s January, which means that Craig Tanner is presenting at Roswell Photographic Society. I am always impressed with Tanner’s presentations, so I too will be making a return to RPS tonight.

Prior to the meeting the Flickr gang will be eating dinner at El Zarape in Roswell. I’m looking forward to eating a little Mexican tonight, I just have to be conscious of how much I eat.

Next time you go to the RPS, you should get the gang to go to the Roswell Tap. its right on Alpharetta Hey, and its a nice bar with an interesting menu. (and I’m sure you’d think the girls that tend bar are cute batenders). It has a Pittsburgh owner, so you get some Pittsburgh food, plus then have pretty good pizza too.

Preacher curl? What is & why is it called a preacher curl?

I almost made a (relatively) expensive mistake last night. Jerry got me an IPod Shuffle for xmas, I have already managed to lose the charger. So I swung by Best Buy last night to pick up another (how much could it be you ask) $20.99? Really?? The Shuffle is only $49. I decided to go home and look on amazon and what do you know, an aftermarket charger for only $6 (it is a 5″ long wire)…bad news, it is an Add-on purchase…in case anyone has missed this, there are certain items you can only buy if your total purchase is over $25 (even if you are a Prime member)…so now I’m looking for more stuff to buy…*sigh*…well I put it aside for a bit, to make dinner and clean the kitchen. Guess what I found on the kitchen table?? Yes, the charger…so I wasted over an hour of my day but didn’t spend any money. Yeah me!!

“IÒ€ℒm looking forward to eating a little Mexican tonight”…on first read it just sounded so wrong πŸ™‚

  3. It’s called a Preacher Curl because you are doing a bicep curl while resting on a pad which I guess makes you look as if you are in church. See this photo of me that someone snapped yesterday. πŸ˜‰

I’ll have to drop by Roswell Tap and do a little investigative work before I thrust the idea on the RPS crowd. Thanks.

I was waiting to see whose mind would go into the gutter first, Martha. πŸ˜€

A reasonably quiet evening, save for the cheering around the TV as the Tide kicked some Catholic ass all the way to South Bend!! (I seriously wanted a closer game- that was like watching a scrimmage between your starters and your B team.)

1 hour of Sufferfest last night- my new computer helped make it even tougher- now I’m able to go to a specific cadence in the recovery modes. My leegs feel it today- I guess I’m doing it right.

Tonight, Games meeting with a new president and my new role as co-chair of the Grounds committee. Oh boy, more responsibilities!!

Roswell Tap has trivia on Wednesday nights, they have some sort of open mic music night I think tonight.

Tasty China tonight with the Deaner – he decided he wanted to come OTP tonight. Always an interesting evening when Dean is involved.

  6. Martha says:

    Congrats!

  7. bob says:

Congrats on the Engadget mention, that is pretty cool.

However I just read that your company was just awarded “worst place to work in America” so you have that going for you.

  8. Dish Network was given that honor, although I am sure that Echostar isn’t that far behind…

  9. Steve says:

Wow.. good press for the Paulie!!! And you work for the meanest company in the country. It’s a bonus day!!

  10. Debbie says:

Wow, those preacher curls really work quick!

  11. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Sure do! Only problem is that they really lighten my hair color. πŸ™‚
