Deep Throat

I am blogging from my doctor’s office because I am having some (more) health issues.

It started yesterday afternoon when I decided to workout. Because I had eaten a “sensible” lunch (a veggie burger with water) I was feeling a bit hungry and I decided to eat a little something before heading to LA Fitness — mistake. I chose a small bag of gummy fruits candy.

Some backstory: in recent times I have had difficulty swallowing. While not “normal” I never thought it serious enough to see a doctor.

The last of my gummy candies felt as if it lodged inky throat. I could breathe and talk so I attempted to clear my throat by eating a Clif bar and drinking a few cups of hot (tea temperature) water. No luck.

I decided to ignore the issue, returning home.

This morning I still wasn’t 100% so that was the reason for the doctor visit.

Post Doc:
Doctor sees post-nasal drip. I start taking a nasal spray and behind-the-counter allergy meds. If things still feel bad by next week I am to schedule a visit with a ENT.

Weeeeeeeeee!

Okay, it’s almost 12:00am so I best start doing some work.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Fun times, fun times. Its hell getting old, isn’t it?
Hopefully the nasal spray/ allergy meds will help.

My friends in VA have a cat & while I’m not super allergic, I do have a very slight allergy, so I felt just not 100% most of the time in the house. I thought Claritin might help, but not enough, I’m sure Benedryl would, but all I had was the stuff that makes me sleepy. Luckily we weren’t hanging in the house all that much.

Cooked some red snapper last night that we bought Saturday in VA, decided to try the cooking in parchment paper, I don’t do that very often. Used a bunch of fresh herbs from the garden, I think a few too many, but once I scrapped them off, it was super tasty.

Sorry you’re feeling puny. I get it. The other thing the doctor told me was in the xray, he saw some calcification in the veins around my ankle. Lovely. Maybe that’s why I’ve felt like crap on my last rides. I guess I finally have to break down and go get a physical.

Achiles propped up on ice, drugs (anti inflamation, nothing fun) in my system and just managed to hop upstairs to retrieve my wallet. A compounding pharmacy is making a balm for my ankle. The Dr said it was great stuff! Good for tendonitis too.

I hope this weather breaks. Starting thursday, we need some dry weather for the velodrome.

    Barb, is TJ in Colorado?

I got a compound which didn’t seem to do much. 🙁 hope yours works out better.

I also forgot to mention that my insurance company is balking on paying for some of the treatment performed by my physical therapist because it is too “experimental.” What a bunch of crap!

They didn’t use the traditional rack and cat ‘o nine tails? Did they have you breathing through your eyelids? They must have some sort of standard they are measuring to? Have them send you a copy.

Just received the notification yesterday. With my throat issue I have not had time to deal with that.

  6. Barb says:

    yes- TJ is in Colorado.
Mary stayed a few extra days for Rohan’s birthday, & got stuck in the Barcelona airport, a cancelled flight. I’m sure she isn’t happy to be there alone. she never called or anything to tell me when she was actually getting home.

  7. Steve says:

And this trip home involves the car shuffle, or has that already happened?

  8. Martha says:

When I tore my ACL, the insurance company didn’t want to pay for some of my PT because it “was not medically necessary”…I could walk/run without issue, well a torn ACL doesn’t affect my ability to walk. Walking down staris, that’s a whole other story. They ended up paying…

Feeling like a grown up today, I rolled over an old 401K…trying to get my fianaical house in order for this stupid renovation loan. We got the paperwork last week, there were problems…about $7k in additional fees we were not told about, in addtional to an extra $300/month on the payment. Still waiting on the loan officer to call, so we can work this out. The loan, as is, is not acceptable, I told her there was no way we where going to do it.

I have been so unproductive at work the last week, I really, really need to get some stuff done!

Steve – TJ left the car at the airport for Mary when he left for Colorado, so she will need to find it….. all by herself. There is a hide-a key somewhere…… I keep waiting ofr a phone call, but I really have no idea when she is arriving, its supposed to be today, but I don’t know that for sure. She was complaining ont he lack of customer service from United in Barcelona, I guess it is even worse in a foreigh country.

Martha – that stinks on all the extra fees, I HATE when that happens. It always seems to, you think you have an amount, but then, there’s more!

Paulie – fight, fight, fight with the insurance company, I swear they say no at first, just to see if you will pay.

Speaking of paying, got a speeding ticket in the middle of nowhere VA. To get to Norfolk, after a million miles on I-85, you get on a state highway. Its 4 lane divided (just like the interstate, with more trees). But- the speed limit was only 55. I knew that, was watching my speedometer, but its hard to go 60, and after cresting a hill, going down hill, got clocked at 65. ARGH…. Just called, its $6 a mile over, plus a $61 processing fee. I guess it could be worse.

  10. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Sounds like my Colorado ticket years ago, though I was going faster trying to get to to Colorado InviHash.

  11. Martha says:

That’s not a bad ticket at all…I don’t remember what my last one was but it was a lot more that $120 (got it less than .25 miles from my office, I could see the damn building)…

They switched loan products on us…she told me she was going to do that but didn’t mention how much more it was going to cost. We went from a conventional to FHA loan. The reason, our renovations will cost more than 50% of the appraised value. Since it is an FHA, we have to pay up from PMI on top of monthly PMI (the rate is also about twice what it would be on a conventional loan)…So I’m hoping (still waiting on a call)…if we can bring the bid down to under 50% (we will just pay the out of pocket) we can go back to what we started with.

  12. Steve says:

Pay it Barb. Just the cost of doing bidness. (knock on wood) I have yet to meet the Po Po under such circumstances.

Martha, my first closing went that way- suddenly there was a couple thou’ extra we had to come up with. I made it clear to my realtor on my next one that any discrepency would be coming out of his commission. It was to the penny!

  13. Barb says:

Of course I’m going to pay the damn ticket – like I’m going to drive 8 hours to fight it – and I know I was speeding, it just pissed me off. I have gotten at least 6 letters from VA law firms stating they will get it reduced or eliminated, for a flat feee of $95, $125 & the others don’t say, just call for your no obligation consultation. I know GA tickets are more, its just speed trap revenue for the small county. Shit happens, its been a long time since I have gotten a ticket.

I keep thinking I need to refinance again, but I jsut don’t want to go thru the hassle. I probably should just call Suntrust & see if they will do a simple one, since they currently hold my loan.
