Long Day On The Road

After a late night on Wednesday I hit the road at 6:10am yesterday headed to Raleigh, NC. If not for the wreck on 85 North blocking “5 right lanes” it was a pleasurable journey. I skirted around the problem by using Buford Highway.

I’m Hitched
No, I didn’t get married. On Wednesday night ITP-Reader Barb’s man Allan installed the hitch receiver under the M6. Of course I didn’t get around to using the new bike rack on this journey, I am just not proactive.

Another Bucket List Item Checked
On my journey yesterday I stopped at the North Carolina based chain Biscuitville. I’m a big fan of biscuits (see also: the Montgomery Biscuits) so I have always wanted to eat at Biscuitville. The problem has already been that are only open from 6am-2pm and I have never been around one and hungry then – until yesterday. The food was good, for fast food, but perhaps not making a special stop in the future.

Fun With The Raleigh Royalty
Drinking my cranberry juice in hopes to minimize my occasional “old man” problems so that I can continue to have fun this weekend. Today we are headed to their swimming pool and doing a little bike riding. Good times. And great times once my body starts cooperating.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Figured you were driving yesterday all day.

Nothing interesting going on here – trying to figure out where to ride tomorrow, its supposed to get really hot, so we may have to get our butts out fo bed & go early. Thinking maybe going north to the Sosabee (Bud Plant) routes.

I finally remembered you were probably travelling yesterday when there was no blog by about 3. I’m smart that way.

I learned last night I do not want to be a farrier- or as I pointed out to Debbie, an un-farrier. Gus and Phinney got new shoes on Wednesday and by last night, Gus had one that was about half off. He was being a good boy with me wrestling with his hoof trying to get the shoe off, but it was still not easy.

No ride outdoors last night with the weather still around. Came home through a serious downpour around Union City, which was all but gone by the time we pulled into Newnan.

Barb, what’s the riding plan this weekend? I’m free tomorrow as Debbie is off being horsey.

    We crossed in the ether…

The Bud plant is a bit too far for me to travel.

Steve – I was trying to talk Allan into going to Newnan & riding the Saturday BRAG route backwards & then forward with people we know. You should do that, even if we don’t. Did you ever got to camp Wednesday night?
But he wasn’t convinced. I’ve got all day to work on him. I’d like to ride 50, we will see what route we come up with – it needs to be 40 or more.

Allan is working Sunday, so I need to get a decent ride in then too – and I’m bad about getting motivated for many miles when I’m by myself.

  5. Steve says:

I had completely forgotten they were hashing Wednesday- had I remembered I would have gone for sure, but by the time I found out, they were about to start.

I’ll ride Sunday, but I think that will be chore day, so not nearly so far as I hope to ride tomorrow.

I brought the mountain bike with me tomRaleigh, I may get five miles in this weekend. My training will resume on Monday.

Oh yeah, commenting poolside using my iPad. The future is awesome!

  8. Steve says:

Oh, and you’ll get no sympathy from me on “aging” issues. Young whippersnapper…

  9. Barb says:

Steve – couldn’t convince Allan to go south tomorrow. Not sure what we are doing, but it will be out or way or further north. I kind of want to go out to Arabia Mtn, but that won’t be tomorrow. You should seriously go ride from Newnan High School backwards & find the gang. You would have fun riding in with them. They will all have their Wheelhopper jerseys on, so you can find them easily.
