Windows Of Opportunity

It’s March 1st. To be completely honest I did not expect to get here with no substantial job opportunity in place. In fact, I assumed (yes, I know what happens when one assumes) that I’d be working again by now.

I did hear that a fellow sabbaticaleer has landed a new gig that he will be starting next week. Unfortunately this does not open any doors for me, but I am very happy for him. Time to step up my game.

Workout Hard, Eat Good Food
I put in a solid hour of exercising (thirty minutes each on an elliptical and stationary bike) at LA Fitness yesterday before “ruining” it at Elmyriachi in Kirkwood. A tampinqueno burrito (grilled steak, caramelized onions, and jalapenos, topped with house-made verde, drizzled with queso, and served with rice and refried beans — $9.75), basket of chips and salsa, and one Sweetwater 420 was the order of the day, and holy cats was it good.

I also got a bit of a show from the young couple nearby who leaned in for kisses every once in awhile.

Lunching Again
Today I’ll be eating lunch with my friend Hank. Hank now works in an office building near Spring/17th so I will pop into the Atlantic Station LA Fitness for a workout beforehand.

After lunch I will be hunkering down to do some coding to prepare for future job interviews.

Mixing It Up
Tonight I will be attending another Urban Explorers of Atlanta event, this time it’s a “Mix & Mingle”. Given that I am usually bad at both “mixing” and “mingling” this may be a challenging event for me, but I need to learn how to network better.

Okay, I have to run as my window of opportunity for writing today’s blog is closing. Make it a good one.

Not a lot of reporting from me today, however Debbie is driving a 6 horse trailer this morning to Florida for a few days of hunting. Holy crap, that’s a big rig. I’m glad our truck won’t pull it.

Did I mention I finally got my assignment for Tour of California? I’ll start as a comm on a moto (riding bitch) for the women and then go judge the men! I’m a bit nervous about the moto bit, only because that role is new to me and I have to have gear that I have yet to acquire. A shopping opportunity! This will now make the race compliant with the new UCI rules about caravan management and protocols. I’m a trail blazer of a sacrificial lamb- not sure which.

Steve – ask TJ if he has any of the gear you need……….. seriously.
he has so much stuff………… you just never know.

Another long day at work, but went to Scalini’s for Becky’s 60th birthday. They still give you $14.50 off of your order (not a free entrée) for your birthday. Food was good, the garlic buttery rolls were very tasty, and the company was fun. We finally got to hear more stories of their Super Bowl weekend in Houston.

tonight – another dinner out with a couple former co-workers.
THEN – I will stop all this socializing & start going to the Y – I need some exercise.

$14.50? That’s quite random. But oh I was drooling over just seeing you mention garlic butter rolls on FB.

Barb, I have some stuff- my problem is without much experience, I’m not sure what I will need and what I won’t. I reached out to someone to get a few ideas, but I’ll keep TJ in mind as well.
