I always have the best intentions to be productive when I spend a night at home, but things don’t always go to plan…

On my way home I stopped at Kroger to buy some ingredients for a meal I wanted to try — a modified “Chicken with Forty Cloves of Garlic” — to which I substituted Italian sausage for some of the chicken. Since the oven was going to be on anyway, I also baked three sweet potatoes. My meal was “different”, but I liked it. The meal also took much longer to make than anticipated.

The fact that I was able to cook was nearly a miracle since I was almost hit by a car in the Kroger parking lot as I wheeled my groceries toward my car. The look of horror in the face of the driver, who was driving carelessly and did not use a turn signal, convinced me that my fear of being hit was not imagined.

For the next three weeks I hope to consume a lot of the food that currently resides in my pantry, refrigerator, and freezer, buying as little as possible to make meals from it.

Tonight is German class, or so I believe as I type this.

A quiet night last night. Feed recalcitrant horses (didn’t want to come to dinner). Wouldn’t be a problem, but Daisy eats using an old style “feed bag” and it has to be put on and taken off. Otherwise, you could just put it in their stalls and be done.

Somehow, the first episode of Season 2 of Outlander, which I had downloaded, got “expired”, so I couldn’t watch it while riding. Funny, once the device was back on the network, it found it fine.

This morning started with throwing hay out at 04:50 so horses didn’t starve until Debbie gets back home later. Chilly start to the day.

  2. Though I didn’t step on the scale this morning I am feeling as fat as a turkey pardoned from being someone’s dinner last week. Hopefully I can correct the course starting today.

At least I remembered to bring in leftovers, now it’s a matter of portion control. 🥴

  3. Have done my part for “Giving Tuesday” though I am disappointed that fees are taken out of the donated amount, unless you authorize also paying the fees. I know this is the way the world works, but it still bothers me.

Had a nice evening with Cathy (aka 4 inch hole) and Sal last night.
Made a turkey casserole – Sal was happy to have turkey & my leftovers since she was out hiking last week and missed all the holiday food.
Cathy was in town from the mountains for some “errands”.
I didn’t realize she & Bob still had a small condo down in midtown, so they have a place to stay when they come to town. was really good to catch up with her.

Tonight is a Wheelhopper get together at the Joystick Gamebar?
(we will NOT get sucked into any sort of mismanagement)
Its right down the street from Allan’s firehouse on Edgewood, and he hasn’t ever been inside yet.

Sorry (not sorry) I’ll miss that WH get together. I already have more on my plate than I need.

Must be nice to have a spare home for when you need it!

I bought my first GPS fitness / smart watch on Black Friday. An older model, 2-year-old Garmin Vivoactive 3. The new 4 model would have cost nearly $200 more so I thought I’d start here and see how it works for me. It was an Amazon Deal of the Day at $116. The primary reason I wanted it was to track my exercise without always having my phone on me / wearing the battery out. We all know if your exercise doesn’t get loaded to Strava it didn’t happen… 🤣 I also wanted a heart rate monitor, which this is. I just opened the box and started setting it up.

    • Still don’t know why you want accurate data, and not the artificially-inflated stats my iPhone produces… 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

      • Bonnie says:

🤣. Mine isn’t really accurate yet, it says you need to go outside and walk for 20 minutes to improve accuracy, to calibrate it I guess.

  7. I almost find it pathetic how many “Black Friday” ‘deals’ lasted more than one day, and how many “Cyber Monday” ‘deals’ have been extended until today. Can we just stop this nonsense already?!?!

  8. Bonnie says:

I also ordered $35 Keen sandals yesterday. My last try were a tiny bit too small, and I expect these will be too large, and I don’t love the color, but we shall see on Thursday… I can ship them back for free.

I’m a terrible shopper – I haven’t looked into any deals – online or in stores.
    Oh well……….

Well, I think that’s the best way to save money, just ignore the damn sales. However, I was able to defer two purchases I was going to make anyway until the sales came around. Fortunately for me the cacophony of “buy, buy, buy” overwhelms me so much that I can’t get lured into impulse purchases.

  10. ITP Lurker says:

That Glenwood Kroger parking lot is a shitshow even when people *are* paying attention.

  11. Hmmm, just realized that this is going to be an expensive month. In addition to all of the money I have spent, I need to pay for the Prague hash, and for the next German class. Guess I’m not quitting my job anytime soon. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  12. barb says:

we are on the waitlist for that Prague hash – that’s one I’d really like to go to.
