I clearly did not understand how much rain was predicted to fall overnight and into today. I was expecting no more than an inch, I wouldn’t be surprised if 2.5” has fallen (I won’t know since I forgot to empty the rain gauge yesterday), and it is still pouring outside. I was awakened a few times by the sound of the rain. Unfortunately I did not prepare WLF’s extended water storage for such a heavy storm. Between now and Sunday I must devise a plan for a heavy freeze as well.

All things considered yesterday was a decent day for me. I moved some water into the 55-gallon rain barrel, and I put in 45 strenuous minutes on the trainer.

Santa came again yesterday, lucky guy, bringing me a pair of steel-toe work boots. I need to try them on today to see if he still remembers my foot size.

My experimentation with last night’s meal was mostly successful. The entrée, a crockpot “stew” of carrots, potatoes, cabbage, and sausage was tasty, though I made a mistake of forgetting to pull the bay leaves. My dessert, butterscotch and chocolate chip fudge, never made it to Betsy’s because I was disappointed with its grainy texture so I refused to serve it; perhaps I did not cook the brown sugar long enough, or on a high enough heat?

My goal for today is to accomplish a lot within the confines of the ITP Estate. I have plenty of chores to do, so hopefully I can get them done, or at least started.

Hope you are feeling well, staying dry (Georgia residents), and happy.

2 glasses of wine had me down and out pretty hard last night- I’m not aware it rained. I think we will get just the tail of that front moving through. What I have learned in this isolation is we need a new mattress in the master bedroom. The bed in the guest room is not nearly worn down and I sleep like a rock.

Dinner was a home chef meal of chicken breast stuffed with cranberries and goat cheese, served with roasted Brussel sprouts. Quite tasty. I slightly overcooked the chicken, but the sauce covered it up.

So far, none of the bowl games I’ve watched have been worthwhile. Barb’s team had a chance to recover last night, but a late interception ended that.

Supposedly, the electrician is coming tomorrow to wire the barn. This is just a side job for him (father of a friend) and we’ve been waiting for a couple months. I’ll believe it when I see it.

    • There are bowl games being played? I hadn’t noticed. 🙄 Okay, I do know that my Gators ended a pathetic season with a loss to UCF last week.

Good luck with the electrician. I was going to comment that they may not work I. The rain, but realized you are getting much less than I am. There is another heavy cell about to move through. Oh joy…

I heard thunder a little while ago and it looks like Newnan is getting hammered. So far, nothing here- but it is coming…

Snowed a little last night, had to scrap the windows to drive home from my uncles house. I’m over winter at this point. Shoveled a little of the driveway again this morning, it’s dry light snow so way easier than the day before.

Hopefully flight will be on time (5pm departure), seat upgraded to 1st Class. Really only amounts to a nicer seat & legroom on these small planes, only will have time for 1 cocktail. All the money I spend on the Delta AmEx got me silver medallion status. I need to watch mid afternoon to be sure the Atl flight leaves to come here.

    • Steve says:

Barb, are you paying the mortgage with that AmEx? Holy crap, that’s a lot of miles.

      • Barb says:

Not really. Get a mile or 2 per dollar spent. It adds up, groceries, gas, restaurants, etc. Plus a few flights & those miles. It didn’t take that long.

A rainy day will equal a day doing chores. To be faaaiiirrr, these (overdue) chores really need to get completed. I am going to rent the musical, “Dear Evan Hansen” tonight with a Redbox coupon that expires tonight.

  4. Ate an early lunch. The trainer may be calling my name again. 🤯

We have 4+ inches on our rain gauge (since Midnight), Decatur — so far.

Now getting enough rain to lose the satellite signal, so no Duke’s Mayo Bowl. Aww gee…
