I need to start researching the Affordable Care Act so that I can enroll.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was ROAST

  1. NYT Mini Crossword in 0:32

  2. Steve says:

Wordle in 3, Mini in 2.

The final Games meeting was thankfully brief. If it’s not done by now, it likely ain’t happening. Our stages are already being built by the park. After first saying they did not have enough, they realized they had a completely different system they could use and now had plenty. Every year it’s something with them…

There was excitement on the drive home last night. A pick up truck got on 285 at Camp Creek, went across 4 lanes at a high rate of speed, suddenly decided he wanted to get off again at the next exit and crossed 4 lanes back again. I think he tagged someone on the way back across, as they immediately pulled onto the shoulder. Pick up was long gone at that point. Peoples be crazy out there…

  3. David says:

My taxes are filed for 2021. A net refund of $12, which is pretty damn perfect to me. I don’t prepare my tax returns but I do plot out my estimated liability. I don’t want to owe or get a refund when filing my return. Some years my planning works better than others. This was a good year on that front.

Wordle in 5 starting with FUROR. Mini in 1:02. My head is not in a great place today, but a week from today at this time I’ll be at Hartsfield waiting to board a plane to Costa Rica with my daughter. Just gotta get from here to there.

    • Well played!

My M6 saga has not yet ended. I will be calling the Mazda dealership today to alert them that I will be there next week. I will take the M6 to Columbia and hope they can resolve my issues before I head to Louisiana and Florida. Related: has anyone here dealt with Carvana?

      • Barb says:

        Louisiana & Florida? that’s a roadtrip.
I do not know anyone that’s bought a car using Carvana, but their commercials sure seem to make it sound simple.

        • The plan, made before the car became an issue, is to drive to New Orleans for three days prior to heading to Dunedin for the weekend with my family. It’s a lot of driving, but when I have a car into which I can place my confidence, I like to drive.

I’m more interested in selling the M6 to Carvana instead of trying to trade it in. Not that I know what I want to drive, or how I am going to pay for my next car.

          • Barb says:

dealerships are giving crazy prices for trade ins – but you need to find the next car 1st then decide what to do.

You should get a SUV of some sort, something you could fit in to sleep in if need be – might be good for a roadtrip life you might enjoy. My hybrid CRV gets 34-35 mph.

          • Yeah, I need to start thinking about it. Ideally I’d like something with better ground clearance so it’s easier for me to go camping, large enough to handle any gear I need for trips, and the ability to transport at least one bicycle either in, on top, or behind on a rack.

            Subaru is an option (again).
I still harbor ill will toward Honda
VW has this electric vehicle called the ID.4 which intrigues me.
            Jeep? Perhaps.

It would also be great to get my auto insurance below $1500/year but that may be more of a function of my zip code than of the vehicle.

          • Jenka says:

You may or may not know that I am a car person. I have my opinions on the cars you mention above but the only thing I will say is do NOT get a Jeep. They are crap.

          • Barb says:

why do you have ill will towards Honda?

I agree with Jenka – no Jeeps.

          • I didn’t like the way they handled the Jackmobile transmission situation, and the fact that I was going to have to buy a third one had I not traded it in to Mazda in 2014.

I am good at harboring ill will and grudges.

      • Bob says:

I have heard great things about Carvana, you may not get top dollar for your car but the process is supposed to be super easy and you will get a pretty good trade in.
My neighbor traded in his truck for a Mercedes and it was pretty much just a transfer of keys, he didn’t have to pay anything.

      • It will be weird getting rid of the M6 at some point as I like my all weather mats that I put into it, and have assembled the perfect plan for neatly packing all of my camping gear.

  4. Barb says:

Last night we decided to go up to Kennesaw to the newest Dicks Sporting Goods spinoff store – Going, Going, Gone! Its previous name was Dicks Warehouse Sale. They have a lot of marked down shoes, finding 14-15 shoes for Allan can be “fun” as most stores don’t stock above a 13. He actually found a pair of Saucony 15s that would work.

Then we tested them out on the Noonday Trail that is up there (they were confortable), and then tacos & beers at a little place called the Rotisserie Shop with Mike (Coach Cl*t) and Stephanie.
It was a beautiful evening to be outside.

    • I have seen ads for the rebranded Dick’s outlets.

It was a beautiful night. I did nearly twenty miles with the Meltons crew. I learned that my riding confidence decreases exponentially with darkness. We sat in the parking lot drinking until nearly 10pm, it started to get a bit chilly by then.

  5. Barb, I have yet to start watching TAR or Survivor. How far behind am I?

  6. Jenka says:

Very difficult week at work, my boss is not happy about everything in general which makes the rest of us walk on eggshells.

Didn’t do Wordle yesterday. We went to Mali for dinner, it was great.

Braves clinched the NL east over the Mets last night, it’s unusual for a reigning World Series winning team to do that again, but I wish them well. Today is thankfully the last game for my pathetic Red Sox.

    • I haven’t eat at Mali in many years. I am glad the food there is still good.

As a Mets fan I am none too pleased with the Braves success. Last night I joked that I am going to start rooting for the Braves and UGA since all the teams for whom I root inevitably shit the bed and I’d like to see those two start to fail.

Hope things at your job get better soon.

      • Jenka says:

Well usually the Mets shit the bed soon after the All Star break, but they’ve been really good this year! They didn’t clinch the division but they were leading it 95% of the season. I’d love to see a Braves-Mets NL championship series; it’ll never happen but it would be fun.

  7. Debbie says:

Wordle in 6, Mini in 1:14. I suck today!
