Going to attempt to use today’s rainy weather to get a lot of inside choring done today.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was HUNCH

Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 192.0 pounds (+1.2 from last last week’s weigh in); very disappointing, I am putting the bike on the trainer today for exercise

  1. Watched a bunch of Survivor last night with Barb and Sal. Barb made an excellent chicken casserole, and Sal brought over some delicious dessert.

    • Barb says:

glad you like the casserole – and now I have room in my freezer for a turkey we should be buying today.

      • I was going to blame you for my weight gain today. Haha.

      • Jenka says:

What was in the casserole? I love me a good chicken casserole and am always looking for ideas!

        • Barb says:

Jenka – nothing too exciting or overly healthy – Chicken, rice, broccoli, cheese, can of cream of something, can of cheddar cheese soup, maybe some more cheese, probably some chopped onion. I forgot the water chestnuts, but I usually add a can of those. Whatever spices, salt, pepper, wwho knows what else. Then – some french fried onions for the topping. I don’t follow a recipe.

I Wordled today and got a PHEW. For the record, BUGGY is not a great start word, at least for today. I chose it because I’ve been watching Twitter’s slow motion collapse. Elon saw fit to lock the code base yesterday, no one can make any changes without his permission. I hope he’s enjoying his temporary gig as the world’s richest man. In my view the Peter Principle is at it again.

In other news, Mini in 46, and I’m doing a solo mountain cabin retreat this Friday night through Monday morning in Ellijay. I cannot wait. I need this so bad.

    • Donald Trump did one good thing for me, ruining Twitter for me, causing me to quit in 2016.

Cabin retreat sounds wonderful. Hope the cabin has either a great fireplace or ample heating because it may be a tad cold this weekend.

      • David says:

Thanks. There is a fireplace, and I do need to take firewood.

        • Barb says:

most cabins have some firewood, but always good to be prepared.
We have so much firewood here – you can stop by if you want, we are barely off 75 on your way to 575.

          • David says:

I’ll take you up on that! I have advance knowledge that there isn’t any firewood there. I’ll text Paulie to get your number. Thank you, Barb!

          • Barb says:

we will never run out of firewood – and I’m sure we will have another hardwood tree that has to come down to replenish if we ever do start to run low (& running low will never happen)

    • Jenka says:

If you ever want to use our cabin in Ellijay you are more than welcome (and that goes for everyone else, too). It’s not fancy in any way, but it’s comfy and, most importantly, free. We haven’t been there since May and with our fall schedule it doesn’t look like we’ll make it until New Year’s. We’d rather friends use it than for it to sit empty.

  3. Barb says:

Paulie – I finally got an appt with your dentist -I’m going tomorrow to get a cleaning – hopefully it all works out & they will be my new dentist. They are very booked up, but had a cancelation right after I called. (I also have an appt for next May 2023).
I told them you refered me, not sure if you get a referral bonus? Maybe another toothbrush? 😉

    • David says:

My dentist used to send movie tickets to me as thanks for referrals. Speaking of dentists, I met with mine yesterday, and phew, I don’t have to have much in the way of restorative work after my braces come off. Much being $2K to $6K, but I was fearing much worse. He said the work my orthodontist has done is miraculous. At least I have a frame of reference now. Not that I would, but I could spend far more on a “smile rework”, I’m fifty-fucking-seven, and I just want to stop my teeth from eroding way from being improperly placed.

      • Barb says:

I totally understand what you are saying – the dentist keeps coming up with more than needs to be done – I’m so tired of it.

I’m seriously considering a Mexico vacation for any future crowns (they have mentioned a couple old ones need to be replaced)
All my money seems to go to dental work.

        • David says:

I was prepared to do a Mexico vacation, but this is in the range that I’ll just do it. It’ll be the top end if I end up needing two crowns, which it’s too soon to determine yet or not. But at least I finally know what lies ahead.

    • No referral of which I am aware. I hope that they work out for you.

Thanks to the Braves their parking lot now has a ticket machine. No need to validate, as you should be done with plenty of time to get out with no cost for parking; at least to date I have never had to pay,

      • Barb says:

I’ve had to spell your name a couple times – so maybe after I actually show up they will give you the prize?

  4. Debbie Brady says:

Wordle fail starting with SOARE which gave me 3 letters in the right spots, but still no joy. That was frustrating!

Early morning chiro visit so I drug Steve along for breakfast. We haven’t eaten at Panerra in ages. It was tasty and I have bagels for tomorrow’s breakfast.

What a miserable morning to be out and about. Thankfully the ponies are all snug and dry under their blankets. I hold my breath for the first cold rain every fall until I know the waterproofing on their blankets is still good. Yay for getting another season out of their clothes!

Tanner is wearing his Mom’s clothes. Granted they are big on him, but since he’s not even 2 yet, it gives me hope on his adult size being larger than she was. Genetics are interesting. I bred her to a pony – who is 4 inches smaller than her, but he tends to find size in the mare’s pedigree. Since her mother was 5 inches taller than her, it’s likely that Tanner will be taller than his mom despite having a midget dad.

The advantage of using the pony as the sire is that he tends to pass on a great temperament and very sturdy body type. Tanner is supposed to be my old lady horse that I can ride until I’m 80 which will make him 25. It’s an ambitious plan on many fronts, but it’s fun to think about.

  5. Steve says:

Wordle in 4. After David took 6 and Debbie whiffed it, I knew it was odd. I talked myself out of starting with SAINT, which might have helped.

We were up “early” to get Debbie to her chiropractor appt this morning, then breakfast at Panera.

No trip to Savannah today.. maybe tomorrow. Waiting on some test results for Debbie. Stay tuned.

  6. Jenka says:

I broke down and wore a coat today! Brrrrr.

I need to find a new dentist. I need one that’s in-network and also close to campus. And also taking new clients. It’s a challenge!

    • Barb says:

that’s why I’m trying Paulie’s dentist – my previous one is not in network & is expensive. I kept with them to finish out this implant/crown situation, but I’m moving on. I will keep the periodontist – I like him & that stuff is never covered worth a shit anyway.
All of mine are by the Galleria/Truist stadium.

  7. Steve says:

Y’all reminded me I needed to change an appointment with my eye doctor. Thanks.

My dentist is still a one doc operation in Stone Mountain and every time I see him I ask him when he’s going to retire. They can always schedule me the afternoon before a Games meeting, so it’s not like I make a special trip.

It does also remind me I need to find a new PCP in the Piedmont system down this way. My current PCP is pretty useless in Decatur.

  8. Ate a new-to-me veggie burger for lunch. It was from a company called NotCo and I got a free sample from Whole Foods using a Social Nature coupon. I really enjoyed the burger and will consider buying it in the future.

    • Barb says:

      we went to Taco Hell……..
and – call the flu vaccine people & get signed up!
Just got $155 for filling out an eDiary for a week and a phone call that took 5 minutes. I’m to $355 & for doing basically nothing (+ the $100 referral – so $455).
