On Friday afternoon I discovered that The Bad Ends were playing at Variety Playhouse on Saturday night, however they were the openers for Drivin’ N’ Cryin’. While I am not opposed to seeing Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ I really wanted to see The Bad Ends, so I decided to skip the show since I wasn’t in a mood to go out, nor to pay full price for an opening act.

Because I saw an ad for it on the iOS App Store recently the weekend I started writing an iOS clone of the classic Windows game Minesweeper. I have most of the user interface and gameplay mechanics solved, but have been tripped up by a few components and hope to have the game completed and put into my portfolio this week.

I almost captured Moby Dick today! My first Wordle guess had the first four letters, correctly placed. As those tiles flipped green I sat in amazement only to be crestfallen when the final letter did not flip to green. I solved today’s Wordle in two attempts; my starter today was [REDACTED].

  1. I was saving the “[REDACTED]” joke for the day when I finally caught Moby Dick, but my starter today was so close to the answer that I felt I would be giving away the solution if I published it.

well damn, how will I know what word to start with today? 😉
I guess I’ll wait for David to post his starter word.

LOL, I got Wordle in 3 today, so I have a good sense of what Paulie’s starting word was. I started with DELAY.

I had a great weekend, things are slowly coming together on the swimming front for me. I got some walking in, and rode 13 miles yesterday on the South River Trail.

I also received what may have been the first targeted ad relevant to me for the Bill Callahan show at the Masquerade this Saturday. I asked around to try to find someone to go, and didn’t receive any takers, so I’m going solo. Bill Callahan used to go by the moniker SMOG.

    Busy enough weekend –
Friday night went with a couple friends to The Baqttery to Mac McGee’s to hear a guy play – music was fun, bar wasn’t too crowded – left right bewfore my 3 hours was up in the parking deck so no parking charge.

Saturday went for a walk with the Georgia Outdoor Shenanigans group at the Chattahoochee River – a friend is big into that group’s outings, and it was near home & a nice day. It was a nice 3.5 mile walk – some were going out for lunch after, but I skipped that part. We had massages scheduled for later in the afternoon.

Sunday was Wheelhopper – my tweaked knee had been doing better, but didn’t think about how getting on a bike would mess with it – I’m back to having a very sore knee. I survived most of the ride (we shortcutted a small part in the Lake Charlotte area) and Southside park wasn’t too bad. I just had a hard time getting on & off my bike, so that part really sucked when the trail wasn’t rideable.

Wordle in 4 starting with TREAD. Nice work on sighting the great white whale.

A couple long trainer rides, with a plan of a longer road ride later today.

The “We Fooled Them Again” party was a success. The awards were well received and it was a good crowd.

Chores yesterday and today after I get my ride in. Also a scooter ride yesterday. Rode the scenic route to Williamson, only to learn the BBQ place is closed on Sunday. Ugh.

  5. Back from Waschsalon and grocery run. Waschsalon was busy, perhaps because today is a Federal Holiday?

  6. Gee, I wonder why YouTube is suggesting a video about how to solve Minesweeper? I have not searched YouTube for videos about that, but I have done Google searches. I know this data sharing happens all the time but it will never cease to make me feel creeped out.

  7. Debbie says:

Wordle in 3 starting with BLOAT.

Colonoscopy results back and no new info regarding my GI issues, but he did find a polyp and now wants annual colonoscopies. Oh joy.

Really nice weekend. I finally felt well enough to ride the new horse and he was really good. I turned everyone out together and he got an injury, but hopefully it won’t cause any issues that prevent riding him. I have about 10 more days to decide if I’m keeping him. After that, I can’t get my money back.

Mickey had two buyers try him this weekend, but no takers. I’m sure he’ll find his person soon.

We have a new puppy that will be arriving from Wales next month. She’s a border terrier from the region where they originated. She’s the real deal and will be the foundation for the breeding kennel I’m establishing. There’s no instant gratification for breeding dogs, but it’s a lot shorter wait than horses!

  8. Glad I went out to add something to my trash bag before the garbage men arrive today, yes they are still scheduled to pick up trash today. Seems that a dog walker picked my garbage can as the lucky recipient for a bag of dog shit. I’ve seen my trash get taken often, so I know that because my Herbie Curbie only contains a single trash bag the garbage men will reach in and toss the bag into the truck. And I also know that the garbage man would not fish out the bag of dog shit, thus leaving it behind for me to handle.

I started my week with a lovely 2 hour walk with my friend Shelley. Now the salt mine awaits!

Pretty good weekend here, on Saturday I picked up probably the cleanest used motorcycle I have ever seen. This thing has 2800 miles on it but looks like it came off the showroom floor. Can’t wait to get out and explore on it.
Saturday met with the neighborhood tennis team in Norcross and went to Cultivation and Social Fox breweries followed by dinner at B&W burger where another neighbor was playing with his band. Nice little town square in Norcross, and when the train goes by you get shots at the bar at B&W.
Sunday wheelhopper was super fun! I really need to get back to the southside park trails, lots of great features there.
Although now my age and lack of stretching has caught up to me as my knee is on fire. Felt great on the ride yesterday once it warmed up but now I can hardly do stairs. Time to get on a stretching routine.

  11. Jenka says:

We went to see the re-mastered Titanic at Madison Yards on Saturday with lunch at the Salt Factory (or whatever it’s called) first. I’d never seen it and Kevin hadn’t seen it since it came out 25 years ago. It was fine, but at over 3 hours it ran a little fat. I don’t think I need to see it again. Sunday we went for mani-pedis and then lunch at Euclid Avenue Yacht Club.

    • EAYC was where I almost drank on Friday, but went to Wrecking Bar instead.

Haven’t seen, nor wanted to see, Titanic since seeing it in the theater many years ago.

      • Jenka says:

I don’t know why we don’t go to EAYC more often, it’s so close to our house. We do go to Wrecking Bar pretty regularly.

        • David says:

I said “been there, done that” after my first trip to the Wrecking Bar years ago. I have been to EAYC a couple of times recently and I do like the vibe, unless there’s a crazy guy at the bar shouting at the TV. That does diminish the experience for me.

  12. Wow has it warmed up outside! I transplanted two Swiss chard plants and broke a sweat in the process.

  13. Steve says:

Well, that 30 miles liked to kill me. 45 on Saturday just might. Before I started, Debbie said it’s a little windy. Fortunately, my planned route started into the wind and I called an audible and kept going into the wind instead of turning north. Still a long slog home.

  14. Barb says:

I finished that Fleishman show on Hulu – weird show -I thought it would get better, which it did, a little, but I don’t think it was that great. I tend to finish TV shows I start, not sure I should have with this one.
