I spent the lion’s share of yesterday out in WLF. It was a really good morning and afternoon, almost perfect; almost. In addition to generating some ash by burning wood, I had a tree guy come over and give me a quote to do one thing in the yard that could open up a new area for growing, and I tested my watering system.

If I ever talk about buying another magically collapsing/expanding garden hose, please stop me. Another one has sprung a leak, and because they expand and collapse, they are impossible to patch. After two identical failures I now consider this “innovation” to be useless.

While working (ok, sitting) outside yesterday I watched a robin enter and leave a bush multiple times. As I expected, there is a nest in the bush, and at one point I even saw the robin sitting in her nest. At least one creature living at the ITP Estate is getting some action…

And then my day went from very good to angrily bad as I prepared to go to my group bike ride. I had placed some tomato plants outside, and wanted to bring them back inside. As I approached the house I saw a chipmunk near the open basement door, and wouldn’t you know that stupid piece of shit ran into my house. I chased it around the basement with a shovel, twice getting it toward the open door through which it entered, but instead of running outside it ran into other rooms. I lost it in the utility closet. Leaving the door wide open I drove to Lowe’s and bought a trap, which is now loaded with peanuts hoping that, if the chipmunk is still in the house, it will get hungry. What a fucking pain in the ass. Needless to say that I have been in a foul mood since.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was CURSE

    It’s always something. Always.

Wordle in 3 starting with STALE. Mini in 59. I expect Barb will experience some teeth gnashing today.

I bought a solo ticket to see Fortune Feimster at the Cobb Energy Center tonight. She’s stand-up comedienne with some entertaining Netflix special.

  2. Checked trap, no bounty. I decided that there is nothing more I can do at the moment so I am eating a bagel sandwich before heading to the Trees Atlanta volunteer shift I committed to this morning. My shift is at the Urban Food Forest at Browns Moll, a facility I have wanted to visit since finding out about it a few years ago.

Wordle in 4 and it took entirely too long for that.

I was all ready to ride, at least mentally, when I remembered I had a UCI jig seminar to attend at 7PM. So much for riding. We got down in the weeds of new bike changes and how the new jig works- unfortunately, USAC doesn’t have the new jig and will have to adapt the old one! Redlands should be fun. And by the way, there are 17 pages of rules on bike measurement and 77 pages of explaination.

Fig had a good day and she even joined me for a conference call. She was a hit.

Glad Fig is working out. Sure is cute!! Wordl in 3 starting with extra. Dogsitting crazy Wilma again thru the week-end. Running the Atlanta Women’s 5k tomorrow morning and then working the rest of the day. I have no chipmunks running amok. My snowball bushes are loaded this year!! Safe travels Barb. Nothing too exciting to add today.

We actually rode our road bikes last night! Parked by Sam’s BBQ1 on Lower Roswell, use the bike lane & ride down along the river. Its an 18 mile out & back. It was harder than it should be, but – there’s only one way to get better……….

Got home & ate some shepherds pie that I had made with the leftovers from Monday’s pot roast dinner. That gravy made a different taste – it was really good. Then we decided to go sleep in the camper (finally) on the new mattress. We had to figure out the AC – it was hot in there. I slept ok.

Need to finish packing. When I checked in – Delta gave me the Digital ID option (using facial recognition) – so, I get to check my own bag downstairs & go thru a different TSA line.

Interesting. I flew last month and don’t remember having that option. Next month’s trip to Cali is on SW, so no chance there.

      • Barb says:

Steve- The last 2 trips they didn’t offer the Digital ID – I was wondering if it was because I had 2 tickets on the reservation. But – if it wasn’t offered to you, hmmmmmm. Now I have no idea how they decide.
I just know that TSA line is a no line line compared to Precheck & Clear, so, I’ll do it every time. AND – I like tagging my own checked bag & seeing it go down the conveyor belt. I feel like it might actually make it to its destination.

Funny, I was going to make shepherd’s pie last night until we decided to go out!

While I understand your frustration with a critter running in to your house take a step back and think of how funny it is running through your house with a shovel chasing said critter 🙂
I had a chipmunk run through my house once, thankfully ran right out the door before my dog noticed or he would have destroyed the house trying to get it.

We went to Six Feet for dinner last night so Finn could have the crabs legs. It’s seriously like dinner theater for him, it takes him like an hour and a half to get through the crabs legs, but it’s an activity as well as dinner!

We’re going out to dinner for Date Night (TM) tonight which will mean that I’ve been out Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and I’m tired.

Tomorrow we are going to see the play Kim’s Convenience at the Horizon Theater. The TV show was based on the play. Has anyone seen the show? I’ve watched it twice, it’s awesome.

wordle is 4 – y’all are better than me today

  9. Done volunteering. Was going to go to Red’s, but they don’t open for another hour.

    • Home, couldn’t wait around for Red’s.
Have showered, and checked the trap. Shower was good, trap not tripped and bait (peanuts) in tact. Hoping chipmunk ran away while I was out buying trap.

Now cooking lunch, a tofu stir fry using greens from WLF.

For benefit of any Ted Lasso fans, Jeni’s Ice Cream now has a “Biscuits with the Boss” flavor that we tried last night. It pairs particularly well with their Wild Lavender ice cream. The kids and I ate dinner at Willy’s, then we stopped at Jeni’s and took the ice cream home to watch during part of our third viewing of Ted Lasso. We’ll be watching the fever dream episode with Coach Beard and his fancy pants when we pick it up again.

    • Barb says:

There’s so much to watch – I so rarely watch something for the 2nd time, much less the 3rd time.
Right now I’m watching Friday Night Lights from the mid-late 2000s. (never watched it back in the day) It kind of cracks me up, all the drinking, partying etc in high school I get, but these kids go to bars, buy beer themselves, etc. Come on……..
