Though I have no metrics, I have to believe yesterday’s blog post had the most comments in the history of this space.

If RELAPSE were a five letter word I would have used it as today’s Wordle starter. The shit weather kept me from riding last night, and I am almost certain that my weight is over 200 pounds again for the first time since 2020. I realized that one of the reasons for my weight gain, in addition to having a lack of discipline, is that for the past year I have not had a companion with whom I could split meals.

Yesterday I downloaded the list of Wordle answers, by date, and am making a data file from it for an app that I intend to write in order to kick myself in the ass to restart my iOS development learning.

Last night I watched the first episode of “Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Happiness”. I’m not sure if I was just in a jaded mood, or I just felt as if it was just another celebrity doing a travel show, but it didn’t hook me and thought it was a bit too woke for my liking.

I was going to go out for a long bike ride this morning but I’ve committed to being on a call later and don’t want to risk not being home for it, so I am going out for a long walk instead. I hope that this exercise will provide me with a much-needed attitude adjustment.

Have a good weekend friends.

I solved today’s Wordle in three attempts; my starter today was FILTH.

    Wordle in 3.

I saw that there were over 60 comments yesterday. We’re a chatty bunch when we get started. It was certainly a good day in the blogosphere.

I mowed the yard yesterday and considered that exercise. Thinking about the gravel ride out of Haralson tomorrow morning. So far, just thinking.

I too think yesterday’s blog was record setting. Definitely one for the ages.

Wordle in 4 starting with CHAIR. Coulda been 3 had I chosen a different first letter.

I moved a first aid kit from my office to my house yesterday. Last night I cut my finger on something and needed a bandaid. Prescient timing. In any case the first aid kit has coupons in it that expired in 2001. That predates me moving to this house in 2004. It was a weird moment of time travel. I’ll check the kit for expired meds. I will be removing other things today from the bathroom closet where the kit landed.

  3. Headed out for my walk, so I won’t be as chatty as I was yesterday.

    • Cut my walk to 3.5 miles because I overdressed, but at least I picked up a bag of trash during the first mile. I had put on a long sleeve technical shirt, which proved to hold in heat well as I was sweating after a couple of miles.

Shortened stage today. From 200km to 75?? Wow. There will be snow as they cross the pass- at least on the side of the roads. The descent will be sketchy AF.

  5. The price for the Amazon item I have been watching dropped again, so I’ve pulled the trigger. Now I need to identify what it will replace…

Also, I have been extremely careful not to click on wish list items, and lo and behold one of those also magically landed in my cart. Good thing that I am fastidious and removed it before placing my order.

I ordered Airtags yesterday to put on my dogs collars. Eddie skulks off every chance he can get, and Ginger is deaf as a post now and has taken to laying down in random places around the house. I’m putting an Airtag on my car keys as well, I’m over having to try to remember the clever places that I set them down when I relapse from putting them on a hook where they belong.

Wordle in 3 starting with AISLE.

I need to get an airtag for the tv remote. Of course it’s probably not accurate enough to locate it beneath the blanket next to me on the couch. It’s comical how many times I look for it.

Starting in June, I’ll be working Mondays and Tuesdays. It may not work longterm as they really wanted someone on for 3 days. If it doesn’t work for them, no harm no foul; I just can’t justify 30+ hours a week for so little pay. I can make 4x as much freelancing so I’ve got to make time for it. Hoping the structure of the office work will carry over to the freelancing.

I’ve been using a Harmony Hub for at least a decade now, probably longer. It lets us use our phones as a TV remote. It’s been completely life-changing. Logitech discontinued the product in 2021, but you can still get a Harmony Hub on eBay and other places.

Batching your work days is smart. Back in the mid 1990s I went through two alternate work schedules before I broke away in 1998. The first was to work 4 ten hour days. That absolutely sucked trying to fit all of my consulting stuff into one day a week. I was later able to negotiate working half-day 5 days a week. That was much better.

    • The AirTag has a speaker, so you can ping it and listen for it. At least I think this is true. 🙂

      • David says:

You can, but also Find My Phone will direct you to the air tag, including showing on screen how many feet away it is, and exactly what direction to walk in. I’ll have them on Monday, I exchanged slower shipping for e-book credit.

I have AirTags for my dog and other stuff and I can’t get any more detailed than “inside the house.” Maybe I’m doing it wrong?

          • David says:

I’ll report back next week. It may depend how old or new your iPhone is. Maybe I got hoodwinked by the marketing that showed pictures of it telling me how many feet away something is. We’ll see!

        • I don’t think my iPhone is new enough to have that feature. I tried once and couldn’t figure it out.

Hello from the ATL airport! We are on our way to Chicago for a long weekend. Tomorrow we have tickets to the Tina Fey & Amy Poehler show, and on Sunday we’re going to the White Sox-Royals game and checking that baseball stadium off our list. At some point there will be deep dish consumed, which Kevin has never had (!).
