I’ve swiftly returned to a routine life, spending yesterday puttering around WLF, taking impromptu naps, and my only real exercise being a walk up to EAV to pay my mother’s mortgage payment.

I did eat some good homemade food yesterday, however. I made rice with fake spicy chicken and tossed in all of the shelled peas that I collected from WLF’s pea plants.

I solved today’s Wordle in six attempts; my starter today was MULCH

It’s back! Tuesday Tale of the Tape: 197.2 pounds (? from the last time I weighted myself); slightly disappointed that I’m not lighter after riding so much, but the calories I ingested probably exceeded that which I expended riding.

I was robbed today on Wordle. I had 4 correct letters in 2 but managed to close it out in 3.

I’m doing a bit of time travel this morning, headed to Buckhead to for breakfast at the White House with Greg, who was the boss decades ago that convinced me to sit for the CPA exam. We meet up once a year and it’s always good to see him.

    • Barb says:

in all my times in Buckhead over the years – I have never heard of The White House. And -its so close to station 21 (where Allan was for a few years) I’d think I’d have heard of it.

      • David says:

It’s amazing how we can sustain geographic blind spots like that. It is tucked away, it’s almost an invite only kind of place in that regard.

    • Since it took me six I don’t consider getting in three being “robbed”. 😛

I have only eaten at the White House once, the year I vowed to eat more pancakes. From what I recall I liked it, but it’s in Buckhead so I haven’t been back.

    • Bob says:

Been to The White House a couple times and the breakfast is amazing. However, it is geographically undesirable for me so have not been there in many years.

      • David says:

I hear you! If it wasn’t sorta in the middle between where Greg lives and I live, I wouldn’t ever go there either. It’s worth the drive once in a while for me.

Wordle in for starting with SAINT.

A good day of riding yesterday once I got out of Roanoke. You can see the Blue Ridge Parkway on the map but not everywhere is an access point and for some reason Google maps doesn’t have an easy way to search for an access point. I probably spent an extra half an hour getting to one.

Once there I basically had the parkway to myself. A little light mist and occasional raindrop kept me in my rain gear for most of the day. I stopped at the music center just to take a bio break and there was a five piece string band play. Quite lovely. Unfortunately the Ranger told me of the upcoming detour And I had to deal with that. Unfortunately it was quite significant and I never got back on the parkway again for any length of time.

Once I got to Boone I was on roads I was well familiar with although I haven’t seen them in 25+ years. Stopped at the old campsite where I met my first wife and spent many a day camped listening to music and generally having a great time across from the Games field on grandfather mountain.

Made my way to downtown Asheville to Hotel indigo where I have spent the night. Meeting up with my old boss and her husband who have retired to Asheville for breakfast.

Made the mistake of checking my work emails yesterday and found out my coworker Sam has the cooties. Checked in with the boss to see if he wanted me in the office tomorrow because of planned meetings already scheduled and he said he would let me know.

  3. Due to circumstances beyond my control my plan of action has changed for today. I have returned from gassing up the M6 and doing a Kroger shopping trip. I may try to get some farming in today prior to cleaning off my bicycle in preparation for tonight’s ride.

I can’t believe how lovely the weather is this morning, low 60s in mid-June? Please and thank you!

Wordle in 3 using MULCH – that was a crazy lucky 3rd guess.

I need to get packing for my 2 weeks in Iowa – my sister gets here tomorrow, so I won’t have my extra bed to stage all my clothes & stuff. I like to lay out way too much stuff & then eliminate things.

This afternoon I have a 2 HOUR sexual harassment seminar to attend – I guess its LIVE (on Teams). We used to just do an online thing, with a test at the end. It has something to do with the state of IL, which is the office I officially work out of. WHAT FUN……

  5. Bob says:

Don’t ever expect to lose weight on BRAG, we do WAY too much sitting around drinking and eating to even have a chance at losing weight 🙂
Although maybe the zombies do, after the ride they just go back to sleep in the indoor camping area and wait for the next ride.
Set up tents yesterday to dry out and pack away, next up is cleaning the bike so it can go back on the hook for 9 months.

Today is the big bowling rematch at work. Last year at a company outing I beat a league bowler and have been giving him shit all year. Wish me luck for all the strikes this afternoon.

    • Barb says:

bowling – that sounds like a fun work outing.

    • I forgot to weigh myself prior to BRAG to see what my actual weight change was, but I really didn’t expect to lose weight over the week — too many beers, fried food, snacks, and ice cream.

My bike is now cleaned and ready for tonight.

  6. Steve says:

All good until the bike fell over in the parking lot! Picked it back up and found a drivers left foot peg on the ground. Am able to rest my foot on whats left. Tried to take the passengrr peg off and cant get the pin out without a bigger hammer.

  7. Barb says:

I hope weeding my tomatoes, peppers & herbs counts as decluttering.
I decided it needed to get done before leaving for Iowa Friday.
I do not enjoy weeding, but it’s done.
Added bonus, it is GORGEOUS outside, perfect temperature & a little breeze.

    • David says:

That definitely counts. My decluttering for today was typing my 8′ tall grape tomato plant to the 6′ stake a bit better. I don’t know what I’m going to do if this plant keeps heading for the sky. Rig up a drone to hover over it 24/7? 😉 It’s now twice the size of my other two tomato plants. All have fruit on the vine and scads of new blooms, which is exciting!

      • David says:

        Tying, not typing.

      • Barb says:

Grape tomatoes grow like crazy vines – I’ve had to drape them over the next plant’s cage many times. I only planted bigger tomatoes this year – as I thought Paulie would have lots of volunteers.
But – its ok to not have them – the critters around here like my tomatoes, so whatever I have growing tends to disappear.

        • The weirdly cool Spring and our conflicting travel schedules made it so that the volunteers anchored themselves into the soil. I tried replanting a couple and those died, so I never extended an offer to you this year.

          • Barb says:

And that is fine actually -I would have put them in a couple pots – I used up all my spaces out in the yard.

        • David says:

That’s a good idea, Barb. All of my tomatoes are in pots, and so I can move the pots around and do some draping. I don’t use cages, I like using metal t-bar fence posts and then using twine to attach the plants. This behemoth would have long out grown the cage by now.

    • My tomatoes have formed a six-foot tall jungle. There are some sizable fruit on them, and hopefully the animals will allow me to eat some of them.

A couple of the volunteer tomato plants have already produced marble-sized fruit, some of which have ripened. They were fairly tasty.

  8. Barb says:

Playing with a bird chirping identifier app.
We have mainly robins & cardinals in our yard. Or, they are just the loudest.

  9. I guess June 13th is my Amazon Prime renewal day, I was just auto charged $139 for the honor of being an Amazon Prime customer for another year.

  10. Jenka says:

You guys probably won’t see this, but hello from the Skyclub at ATL! Our flight to Buenos Aires leaves at 10:00. I spent the weekend and last two days watching a lot of TV (Barb and Debbie, I’m almost done with A Million Little Things). Looking forward to the trip!
