I have to say that I have had better birthdays and much better weekends. It was GD hot in Florida this weekend, so between that and a lack of sleep Friday night I never took my bicycle out for a ride.

And in case you missed my special post on Saturday I was dealt a birthday turd by Wordle, with my first fail since the last time I visited my mother. Hey, maybe there is a correlation?

I spent most of the weekend choring, in addition to doing a little decluttering making a (unfortunately insignificant) dent in the amount of stuff in my mother’s house.

Even though I know the Florida drama won’t be ending anytime soon, I’m looking forward to getting home and attempting to take control of my life.

The third member of the ITP ’65 Club has a birthday today. Happy birthday to ITP-Reader David.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was SOLID. Trying something different this week, all of my starter words will start with “S”.

Happy Birthday David! You are now 58, just like me & Paulie!

Paulie- are you driving back today, or tomorrow?

I thought I did pretty well on the Wordle today with a whiff on my starter and got it in 3.

A fairly lazy weekend around here. Scooter ride Saturday to run errands after watching the Tour stage. Such good racing for the whole race. And if you look up “Badass” in the dictionary, there is a picture of Sepp Kuss.

Sunday, 18 actual miles on the CX bike. It was pretty hot and while I tried to stay in the shade, it didn’t really work. Debbie had cabin fever, so we took a Sunday drive to Woodbury and dinner at a new to us Mexican place. We’ll go back. Crossed the covered bridge and followed our noses for a while longer. It was nice with background music provided by Tony Bennett on a weekend tribute from Sirius. Well done, y’all.

Started the next season of “Lincoln Lawyer”. The scenery isn’t as good as “Suits” but the storyline is a bit more believable.

Steve – the scenery isn’t as good……. that made me laugh.

I started watching season 3 of Sweet Magnolias on Netflix – tell Debbie if she wants a stupid silly show with awful southern accents – here it is. I just found out a guy I knows son has a cameo/something in episode 3, so I’ll need to pay attention to that episode.

And Happy Birthday David! I hope this next lap will be the best!!

  4. Jenka says:

Happy birthday, David! And happy belated birthday, Paulie!

    • David says:

Thank you, Jenka! I got chastised by Paulie’s blog for “posting too fast”, and then rewarded with an internal server error. “Thank you, sir, may I have anohter?” 😉

      • Jenka says:

Hah hah! It does that to me, too. I’m like, even if I’m posting fast for a human, there’s no way it’s faster than a bot! But whatever.

    Not a bad weekend –
Friday a little happy hour get together with a couple Wheelhopper friends – Mastergater & Grassy Hole, they only live in Roswell, but we so rarely see them.

Saturday thought about hashing, but couldn’t get our crap together to get over to Decatur. Went for a 4 mile HOT walk about the neighborhood instead. Then had dinner with the in-laws.

Sunday I had thought about Wheelhopper, but some FL friends were driving thru town on their way to Blue Ridge. So, I went over to JoAnna’s (indoor) pool for a little while, then back home for the drive by visit. It was good to see them for an hour or so.

Like Paulie I too have had better weekends. Saturday was plagued by some mild GI upset. Yesterday I was ensnared in torpor, and finally realized that it was just exhaustion. I did get the outline of the book I’ll be writing this fall finished, so that will give me some room with my publisher to finish the book I’m already amidst. I did go for a walk with Jamie, we went from his house to Deepdene Park and back. The heat was no joke, so I got us to take a couple of breaks. I feel better today than I did yesterday.

I followed Steve’s path, no matches on the first work, but closed things out in 3. It was much better than 6 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday. It seems like they’re making Wordle harder on the weekends.

    Safe travels today, Paulie.

    • David says:

Oh, I started watching Season 2 of The Bear on Hulu yesterday, in anticipation of being in Chicago this Thursday/Friday. It’s different from the first season. I’m not sure what I think yet. I think I got through about about half of it. It is mostly keeping my attention, so there is that.

  7. HamWithCam says:

    Happy belated Birthdays to all.
(Especially “I’m not on The Facebook” Paulie…)

Decluttering (and mass recycling, donating, and throwing out) continues.
Too many items to count, I’m good “daily” for the next 4-5 years — at least.

BTW, Paulie (and others here), enjoy this time with your aging parents.
The many efforts, time and trouble, etc. you expend now, are simply debts you are paying forward. We should all be so lucky.

And Yes! What a finish on the final stage of the TdF!

    P.S. – Paule….fix your plumbing already!

    • Barb says:

John, you made me LOL with that last line.
We haven’t mentioned it in a while.

    • steve says:

      Hey John!!

I’ll second what you’re saying- cherish the time with the parents.. I did back then and still could have done more…

And every time I walk past your photos on the second floor, I think of you!

    • These are certainly not the salad days with mom. She has failing health and memory, making it difficult to do more than eat, play bingo, and watch tv. Speaking of bingo, she saved the day by winning the final game for $100.

      • Barb says:

nice!!! My mom won $50 last night at bingo – I asked her what she was going to spend it on? She said – its in Tom’s wallet, I guess we will spend it next time we go to bingo.

  8. Bob says:

    Happy birthday David and Paulie!

  9. Hello from Gainesville, FL where I stopped at the rest area for a “nature break”.

  10. Barb says:

so I get a postcard in the mail for a Delta class action suit about the credits that were issued when Covid 1st started (3/1/2020-4/30/2021). It says I have $278.75 of remaining credit. (I have no idea where that # came from)
Sooooo, I’m filling out the form. Who knows, maybe I’ll get some more money back someday?

  11. Hello from Valdosta. I needed a break from driving so I decided to stop for a Mexican lunch.

  12. Home, for anyone checking in late. Updates good and not so good tomorrow…
