It’s a bits and bobs Friday.

While weeding at Trees Atlanta I suffered two ant bites. Those fuckers love biting me. What makes these bites even more annoying is that they occurred on my wrist under my watchband, so I may not be able to comfortably wear my Apple Watch today.

I managed to get a ride in last night at the cost of decluttering and iOS development training. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to ride because even though I took a nap when I got home from Trees Atlanta, I was still worn out all afternoon.

More rain happening now.
– Bad: I can’t work in WLF today.
– Good: hopefully my CoA water bill will be lower since I’ve not had to water all week.

Not sure what this weekend holds. The weather will be hot, but perhaps I will go out for a hike tomorrow? Maybe some other volunteering on Sunday?

I have discovered where a lot of my money is going, it’s being sunk into a mysterious category called “Food & Drink”. Apparently going out for beers and food, as well as buying groceries to eat at home, is expensive these days. Other notable expenses are insurances — health, auto, home — and gas for trips.

I solved today’s Wordle in four attempts; my starter today was RHYME.

My Decluttering Week
Saturday: box in which tv was delivered [finally cut down and recycled]
Sunday: waterproof case too small to fit any phone manufactured these days
Monday: book (cookbook)
Tuesday: book (historical reference)
Wednesday: plant tray I cracked by stepping on it
Thursday: nothing
Friday: [unsure at blog publication]

  1. I had more bits and bobs for this post, but could not recall them this morning. I guess that I can add them as comments throughout the day if I remember them.

Had every intention of running this morning….but yet again, it’s raining. I don’t mind running in the rain but I don’t like the thunder and lightning. Will be a busy day at work with packet pickup for the Vinings Downhill Race on Saturday. Saturday is another spike event. Had I not started a big pot of bean and sausage soup I would have joined the ladies at Trivia. I’ll put it on my calendar for next Thursday. Possibly meeting a friend in town Sunday morning for a run and then hashing in the afternoon. Wordle in 3 starting with OXIDE. Declutter: Running T-shirts, old spices, leaf blower, weed eater, 1 book.

Wordle in 6 and I was about to lose it entirely!

Debbie arrived home about 11:15 last night with Bennett in tow. He’s currently in his box in the spare bathroom and finally settling down after the shift change when I started working and Debbie moved out of my chair and into the bedroom. He and his wife, Fig spent the night in my chair while I have Ollie and George with me.

Grass cut, carport and porch blown off. Watched ESP and NED play a boring match last night. I guess I need more education if someone tells me I missed a great match.

I’ve got a great idea for you! Apparently, the new UPS contract pays drivers $170k per year.

    • Sally says:

      WHAT?!

    • Jenka says:

It’s true, it’s part of the new labor contract the union and UPS agreed upon. Senior divers make $170,000/year plus benefits. Woohoo!

      • Barb says:

my brother who works SUPER part-time for UPS said over all the new contract is good, but it is still screwing some of the long time part timers. But- you can’t make everyone completely happy, right?

        • Jenka says:

My co-worker’s husband is one of those senior drivers who already makes well over $100K, so she is pretty happy about this deal.

    • Yeah, I’m only twenty years too late.

      • steve says:

I worked as a driver helper one Christmas season many many years ago and it was the best job EVER because who doesn’t want to see Santa Claus at Christmas?

The whining puppy isn’t whining Anymore as I brought him out and he’s quietly sitting in the chair with me.

        And it’s raining, again.

  5. Jenka says:

Day two of faculty retreat. It’s not that bad, but all day activities/togetherness is really hard for this introvert. Today I actually have to work the business meeting, but we should get done after lunch.

You’re all going to be jealous of my weekend plans. Tomorrow we are going to see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie at midtown arts cinema. How jealous are you?!

  6. Using this rainy day to get my ass into the basement to clean and decluttering. Not in the mood to sit stationary for iOS development training.

Somehow I just managed to strain one of my calfs while cleaning.

And just to let you know that I am not special, I was handed the dreaded “Internal Service Error”

I was getting ready for a boring night of watching some TV – then Kristina called & said – let’s go for a walk & catch up. We did a little neighborhood walk, and decided to go get something to eat at Delkwood. They were just getting ready to start trivia, so we decided to play while we ate (figuring with just the 2 of us, we’d suck & could quit at any time)

Then 2 guys sat down at the bar next to us, and we became a team of 4. Somehow (mostly because of I think his name was John) we were in 2nd place at 1/2 time, and none of the teams were ringers, so we had a chance. We ended up in 2nd place – didn’t Bet it all on the final question (catagory Mountains) – and got it right, but team#1 beat us by 4 points.
We won $20, so we will go back next week to spend it. (we will see if the boys show up, but I bet they will)

    Wordle in 4.

    I. Am. So. Exhausted. At least with good reason.

I think I fractured a rib when I crashed the bike in Chicago. I’ve been too much on the go to get it looked at, and since it has to heal on it’s own, I haven’t made it a priority. I’ll message my doctor on Monday if it still hurts the way it does today.

My brother is back in Indiana. He had a vacation unlike anything he’s ever experienced. Good stuff.

    • Compare notes with Debbie.
      Hope you heal quickly.

    • David says:

I took my brother to see Barbie last night. It was suprisingly much smarter and better than I expected. Mike saw Oppenheimer in the afternoon with my son, so he is hip with the times having completed the Barbiheimer. Even a few weeks ago there was no way Mike would have agreed to see Barbie. We got into some things on this vacation that have been absolutely transformational for him.

  9. I know you’ve been waiting to read what my lunch will be today: Tomato sandwich, and, some air fryer jalapeño poppers made with WLF jalapeños!

There are some amazing looking heirloom tomatoes on the last of my tomato plants. I’m playing a game of chance leaving them on the vine to start to ripen before I guarantee my consumption by bringing them indoors to finish ripening. *fingers crossed*

  10. I remembered one of the things I was going to include in today’s blog post. It’s kinda long, so I will save it for Monday.

  11. steve says:

And the sun was out here, too. For a while. Now guess what? It’s raining again!!!

1.75 inches in the gauge so far…

I’ve switched to disaster recovery mode- I connected to my hotspot (it’s been flaky) as the power blinked. This way I don’t lose my connection.

  12. Barb says:

Went to a gentle yoga class – now trying to get some work done.
really not in the mood this friday afternoon.

Thinking about a hike tomorrow morning –

  13. Jenka says:

Retreat over! Now I just have one short Zoom meeting at 3:00 and I’m done for the week. Thank the sweet merciful sunflower.
