After yesterday’s start not much could compare. My day consisted of morning choring followed by afternoon and evening laziness.

It’s supposed to rain all day, so not much will be happening in my world.

Wordle: four, my starter was LAUGH
Connections: two mistakes, Blue > Green > Yellow > Purple

Not sure we’ll get the all rain and storms they were calling for. It was supposed to start around 9 last night but they kept pushing it out. Still no rain. In any case, I have enough inside work to do on my day off. I just have to get motivated to do it. It will entail a trip to Home Depot first.

Wordle in 4 starting with FIRST. 2 mistakes in Connections. Yellow, Purple, Blue, Green.

Wordle in 4, one miss in Connections.

I had off and on rain the whole drive in and the wind was pretty intense.

Only reason I’m in the office is I’m hoping an AT&T tech will be here to install a circuit. No conformation yesterday, but we did say we would be in the office today. I hope he shows. Plus, trying to gather all my crap to take to Newark next week.

Another 2 miles of run/walk last night. Debbie’s Mexican casserole for dinner. Arriba!

I took my kids to Staples yesterday to sign up for TSA PreCheck. Big Brother now has their fingerprints. The process was easier than going to the airport, but somehow more soul sucking. The harried person manning (womanning?) the “self-service” iPads was running 20 minutes behind and was borderline grumpy as hell. I can’t say that I blame her.

I went back to the Elsewhere Brewing comedy night. My expectations were lower and bodily orifices only got mentioned occasionally in passing. It was good to get out.

My narcissistic, physically and emotionally abusive mother who 12 years ago wrote an email screed blaming me for stuff I did when I was 7, among other things, has launched a persistent voice mail campaign. I am truly taking my time and considering what to do about this. That email was a gift, she finally wrote her crazy down. She learned her lesson and hasn’t done that again. She is now being ever so syrupy sweet on her voice mail. As fucking if.

Wordle in 3. On Conniptions I cleared two categories snd then almost went down in flames.

    • Barb says:

thanks for the reminder – I need to renew our TSA Precheck. I got an email about it – but as with most emails – I’m afraid to click the link. need to look up the website & do it that way.

I just re-upped my Pre-Check … a pretty painless process. Thought about doing Global Entry, but that would have been another interview and that wasn’t happening.

        • David says:

I’ve thought about Global Entry as well, but the last two times I returned to this country I was through customs in 5 minutes flat, so it seems like overkill. Of course not every airport has it dialed in like Atlanta does, but given the array of direct flights on offer, I’ll keep kicking that can down the road.

        • Barb says:

I don’t feel like I fly international enough to make Global Entry worth the money. My time is valuable, but not sure that valuable. PreCheck seems good enough for me.

          • Jenka says:

FWIW, Pre-check gets you through security before the flight, Global Entry gets you through Customs after the flight.

        • I loved Global Entry when I had it. I may renew it before next year.

        • Jenka says:

I have Global Entry and I can tell you that it justifies the time and expense with ONE re-entry into the US. And by “time and expense” I mean, it’s only 100 bucks for five years, and it was one 15 minute interview. And when it expired after 5 years, I simply renewed it online. That said, if you don’t travel internationally more than once per year, probably shouldn’t bother.

David, you got really lucky on your last two returns. It’s usually a really long wait. Very organized, but long.

          • Barb says:

when we came back from Spain last year – the line wasn’t bad at all. I don’t remember how long it took, but I don’t remember, so it wasn’t bad. The line in Spain was longer to get in to Barcelona – I do remember that.

          • David says:

Yes, I agree. I’ve had a 2 hour wait before.

      • David says:

Smart, Barb, you cannot be too careful these days.

I’m glad I circled back this morning to read the grunge band comments from late afternoon yesterday. Nice work on the Grunge Connections, Paulie. I would have gotten as far as Jeremy and then flamed out. “Let Me Drown” feels a little too on the nose with regard to Chris Cornell’s subsequent suicide. I don’t think that’s the route he chose, but still…

        • Barb says:

we get security tests all the time from our IT dept – I have seriously gotten to the point to never click on links.
When we get caught – you have to do a way too long additional training course. Only been caught once.

        • steve says:

I might have guessed some of those grunge bands, but didn’t know that was the music they played.

  4. Barb says:

and David – that shit with your mom – that’s insane, sorry you have to deal with it.
I’m so glad I had a very boring childhood.

    • David says:

Thank you, Barb. It’s a lot, for sure. It’s also way less than it ever has been. She’s blocked, it just occurs to me every couple of weeks to look at my blocked messages to see what she’s up to. I would respond to her if she wrote a letter, a text, or an email. She wants me on her turf, which is on the phone, and that’s a no go for me, at least at the present time.

      • Sally says:

I agree with Barb! Sorry you have to deal with crap like that!

        • David says:

Thank you, Sally. It’s been a ride for sure. And it’s clearly not over yet. As my therapist keeps reminding me, my mother cannot hurt me any more. It’s her stuff and it never was about me. My brother and I were collateral damage.

  5. David says:

Last night I discovered folded pizza dough in the Publix bakery. It’s like $4.39 versus $3.29 for the blob of dough. I didn’t know such a thing existed.

  6. Debbie says:

Wordle in 4 and fail on Conniptions.

Happy Friday! (For me anyway) This week, my 2 days are feeling like 5. It’s nuts. I got to this point in life without working in customer service and I count my blessings on that front. It’s kind of amusing to deal with for just 2 days a week, a full time job of it would not be something I could handle.

I didn’t hear of any post-Mexican casserole complaints this time, so hopefully I can ease it back into the rotation. It’s so easy, tasty and great leftovers to take to for lunch.

  7. Jenka says:

Finally got around to word games. Two mistakes in Connections but eventually got it: yellow — purple — green — blue.

Wordle in 5 using STEAL, just could not picture it in my head.

  8. Barb says:

    WHERE IS PAULIE TODAY?
    IS HE IGNORING US????
