Not much to report today. I spent nearly the entire day at home. Most of my day was spent puttering around WLF. I baked a breakfast casserole for breakfast, and roasted a squash to eat with dinner; both efforts provided some warmth to an unusually chilly ITP Estate.

While popping around YouTube yesterday I saw a video from the Atlanta band Manchester Orchestra. The video was filmed on March 30, 2023 at their concert at The EARL. How did I manage to not heat about that show until a year after it occurred?

In order to earn my virtual Earth Day badge on my Apple Watch I also took about three mile walk in the latte afternoon.

Today: laundry, Lowe’s, Target, Kroger, and most likely bike riding tonight.

Wordle: five, my starter was WEIRD
Connections: perfect, Purple > Yellow > Green > Blue

Wordle FAIL! I knew I was in trouble when I had all but the first letter.

Sitting on a fairly empty SWA flight to El Paso via Houston. Registration begins this afternoon and racing tomorrow.

After a busy day at work, I managed to cut some grass and do laundry for the trip. I did pack my meds this trip, unlike the eclipse trip.

I was surprised my officials backpack didn’t set off alarms at TSA- no telling what might be down in its depths.

  2. Really busy morning at the Waschsalon. This doesn’t bode well for me getting the large amount of table space I like for clothes folding.

Wordle in 4, took me a while to see the word. It’s good to be back among the living. Clean Connection thanks to a lucky guess that landed purple in the third position, as I truly had no clue.

Wordle in 5. Like Steve, I had the last four letters in 2 but too many options for that first letter. No mistakes in Conneections: Blue, Purple, Yellow and Green. Another easy Strands.

I worked all day yesterday but manage to get laundry done and camping stuff put away in the evening, except for the tent. Plan to set that up today to dry and air out.

Need to go to the GUTS shed this morning to get GUTS gear and other things ie any foods from our races this past week-end. While over there, I plan on doing a run at Kennesaw. Should go to Staples and get TSA clearance for my trip in August. If I have time, I’ll mow the yard.

Heading to the Strand in Marietta with the girls to watch Menopause, The Musical 2: Cruising Through the Change. Hoping it will be as hilarious as the first one.

Wednesday night is Plogging for Pints at Scofflaw Brewing. Test drive some New Balance Shoes. Free Pizza. 1st beer is on NB if you pick up trash. Come join the fun.

    • TSA Clearance at Staples? Huh!

    • Barb says:

its best to make the TSA prechek appt at Staples – not sure how they do walk ups.
We were in & out quick with the appt so many yeas ago.

Can’t go plogging tomorrow night – I have dinner plans.

Speaking of that dinner – anyone have any suggestions conveniently off 85 in the City limits?
Our friends will be coming down 85 (& Allan is working). I think it will need to be around Lindbergh area or something like that?

      • Sally says:

Well crap…bring everyone to Scofflaw for free pizza and a free beer! :). See you later tonight!!

      • Jenka says:

I would go to Taqueria del Sol on Cheshire Bridge, that place is amazing.

        • Barb says:

I know the bridge is still out down there – is that before that? (I guess I could google)
And- bonus – I have never been there!

          • Jenka says:

If you’re coming from the north, it’s before the bridge.

The one in Decatur is one of my most favoritest places!

          • David says:

Back in the 90s the owners of Taqueria Del Sol had a restaurant in Buckhead called Azuni Grill around the corner from our first house. We went so often that the waiter would have our drinks on the table before we sat down. Those were definitely the days, in more ways than one.

      • David says:

The second incarnation of the renovated Cheshire Bridge bridge is still out. If you’re coming from the south, the new Six Feet Under is a block or so north of Piedmont and is just lovely.

    • Jenka says:

It just doesn’t sound right to be scavenging food from a “Guts Shed.” *shudder*

    • David says:

Bring your patience for TSA at Staples, even if you have an appointment. And then be prepared to do most of the work yourself, your appointment basically gets you a spot at the computer, and hope that the system is working correctly. It is easier than going to the airport though.

    • You might consider looking at EATaliano in the shopping center near North Druid Hills and Briarcliff.

      • Barb says:

is that in Dekalb or Fulton?
I thought that area isn’t ATL.
But – that does sound Very tasty!

        • David says:

ChatGPT says it’s within the Atlanta city limits, but but their web site says Brookhaven (which was my guess). There’s one at the Battery that’s probably a safer bet for another night.

          • Barb says:

our friends are coming down 85 from Gainesville, so that’s why I want it to be as convenient as possible for them from the interstate.

But – EATaliano is on my list for the Battery (on a non game day)

          • I still consider Brookhaven to be a state of mind since it seems to have sprawled everywhere.

          • Barb says:

Brookhaven is definitely Not City of Atlanta territory then.
But – now I want pizza

      • Jenka says:

Yes, I’ve never been there but I would totally check this place out!

  5. Jenka says:

Pretty quiet night last night, we went to Ocean Wave and then watched an episode of the Morning Show. We are now 3 episodes into the second season.

Tonight we are adventuring outside the perimeter! I don’t know what came over us! We’re going to Alpharetta to see The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie. Of course we got a hotel room. I was supposed to go with my friend Sarah but she had to cancel. Frankly I am shocked that Kevin agreed to go, I think it was a moment of weakness!

  6. Only partially successful journey this morning. Laundry complete, Lowe’s didn’t carry the item I was seeking, and that took away any of the drive I had to go to Target or Kroger.

  7. In this 1966 episode of “I’ve Got a Secret” they had a commercial for Texaco gasoline, which was localized for each state, supposedly giving you better gas mileage for your local climate. I’ve never hear of such a thing before, so apparently it was bunk.

  8. Barb says:

Allan is outside moving wheelbarrows full of tree mulch.
    what fun (sarcasm font).
my job is to spread it around. (still no fun, but easier than the wheelbarrow part)
Luckily, I’m not super busy this morning, so I work inside for a few, go outside for a few, rinse & repeat.
He just had a tire issue – so off to Northern Tool. I’m actually glad, gives him a break, he works too hard for too long, doesn’t take enough breaks or drink enough water.

  9. Uh oh, I’m starting to feel that poison ivy / poison oak feeling again…

I still have scarring from my last outbreak!

  10. Barb says:

looking around at crap in my office, I found some restaurant.com certificates on the bulletin board from way, way back when.
I wonder if they will still work?
the website still exists – I jsut reactivated my log in.
    there is a $50. $25 & $10 one.
Most of the restaurants don’t interest me, but there is a JR Crickets not too far away.
I might have to see if it will work there.
