Yesterday I bought a concert ticket for a show at Variety Playhouse on Halloween. The show, with the band The Beths, should be a nice diversion for my avoidance of Halloween. The Beths is also a band that holds a sentimental place in my heart. You may recall that I drove down to Gainesville, FL to see them in 2023 after seeing the at Masquerade earlier that year proved to be too depressing for me to see the show alone, forcing me to leave it early. After fees my ticket was $42. To offset some of that cost I nixed my plans to eat lunch out prior to my eye appointment.

Oddly, I received my Federal tax refund in the form of a physical check in the mail yesterday. The State managed to electronically dip into my checking account and withdraw the additional money they demanded.

And even more oddly, my eyelid procedure wound up costing me just about the same amount as my Federal tax refund. Dangen!

I’m not 100% convinced that my eyelid has gotten back to where it was pre-chalazion, only time will tell…

Wordle: five, my starter was SLIDE. I would have saved myself at least two guesses if I allowed myself to reference my list of previous Wordle solutions, but that feels like cheating.

Wordle in 3! Yesterday’s starting word of TREAD got me 4 of 5 letters which I gave to Debbie and it still took her 3.

Not much to report, chiro appointment, mowing, watching the weekend weather before races in Lagrange tomorrow and College Park on Sunday. I think tomorrow will be damp.

Also preparing for a camping check ride next weekend. Actually planning on cooking and whatnot. Bought a Starlink mobile and need to get it working. FedEx dropped it at the open gate on the driveway… must have been in a rush I guess. I just happened to see it while mowing- I think it was there 2 days.

  2. Eyelid certainly doesn’t appear to be shrinking to “normal” size. For the money I spent, I expected better results.

  3. Given my bread baking failure this morning, perhaps I should have gone for a bike ride instead.

You got a check from the IRS? I guess your accountant didn’t put in your checking account info? I thought it cost extra to get a physical check – but who knows. Mine was direct deposited.

I was busy enough work wise all day, HVAC maintenance check happened, the buys said everything is working just fine.
Incockneedo (no idea how we spell her hash name) came by to get her bike, brought some beer as payment. We really don’t drink all that much beer around here anymore, won’t fit in the fridge.

My brother and sister in law are in town, they went to the Perl Jam concert last night. And as usual when you have a house full something breaks. Gaskets in the toilet tank decided now is the time to dry up and fail and start leaking. 2 trips to Home Depot later and we are back to normal.
Truck drama continues, there is a plastic track on the back window for the little window that slides open. The glue holding it failed so the track came loose. I put it back up with double sided tape and propped it up for 24 hours to stick and it failed. I put more double sided tape on and propped it up for another 24 hours and it failed again. Now I have this window seal glue I applied yesterday and I’m letting it sit until this afternoon. We will see if it fails again.

Pearl Jam? I’m so out of the loop on concerts – where did they play- State Farm?

Truck drama sounds fun (where is that eye rolling emoji when I need it)

We have our own truck window drama, on the new camper shell. Thy ordered the wrong slider window(s?) on the original order, had Allan come back to put the correct one in, that one was wrong too. New appt is next week – we will see if the 3rd times the charm.

  6. Ten more pots cleaned today. I have about sixty in all which need cleaning. I’m trying to break it up to ten a day to make it less tedious.

I can clean my windshield again, hallelujah! They also did an oil change, full alignment, front brake pads, and fixed the recall issue. I was wondering about the front brake pads until they said, “the back brake pads are at 40%, so they’re fine,” which told me that the front ones probably really did need replacing. Fucking Chamblee, I left Curry Honda at 4:00 and made it home at 5:30. WTF?!

  8. Harvested about a dozen small potatoes this morning. May make a potato salad for lunch.

I got an email from Eddie’s Attic for a Mother’s Finest in June! What the absolute F?? Edddie’s Attic could barely be the size of the entire STAGE for Mother’s Finest, much less the venue! This might burn the city down- warn your friends. And for those who did not grow up in Atlanta (i.e. everyone that is a regular reader of this blog). MF is the most underrated and best RB/Rock/Funk band on the PLANET. There, I said it.

    • Seems an odd choice of venues.

So far there are two shows that I’ve thought about attending only to realize that they will occur while I’m on BRAG. Oh well.

    • Barb says:

hey Steve – tell us how you really feel?
they played somewhere up here in Cobb that was a small venue last year – I know someone posted about it

  10. This morning’s WLF choring is done. Harvested potatoes, pulled some old bok choy, and transplanted eggplant and pepper plants. It amazes me how much compost I purchase for WLF each year, even as I attempt to make my own.

    • Steve says:

Any time you need compost, just let us know. We have on site manufacturing- I’m looking at them out the window right now. Fresh, delivered to your door!! None of that imported stuff- Georgia “grown”!
