Yesterday’s first-time concoction was a rhubarb apple crumble which was from a book about rhubarb I purchased recently. I got to use the apple corer/peeler device that I bought a couple of months ago.

I rode last night wearing a knee brace in order to protect my ailing knee from any further damage. We are far too close to BRAG for me to suffer a condition that would keep me from riding.

After bragging about how the ITP Estate doesn’t lose power the way it used to, the powerful line of thunderstorms which passed through overnight knocked out the power. I awoke to the sound of UPSes chirping. Had I known that a deluge was to occur I would have made some room in my rain barrel to capture the rain.

    Wordle in 3.

I saw the line of storms moving our way last night and I thought we might be spared on the southside. I heard one rumble of thunder and the streets were damp, but that’s it.

As Debbie left HER truck hitched up yesterday, she was forced to drive the Toyota and told me it needed to be washed. As that was her idea, we washed it and the Mazda. Her truck has a subscription to the nearest car wash, so it stays pretty clean.

George and I took a little walk last night. I didn’t want to get him (or me) too warm as it really seemed hot yesterday- temps driving home were in the low 90’s.

My car is dropped off at Honda for recall parts – we will see how this goes.
Last time (at least a few months ago) they set up an appt, I got there, and they did not have the recall parts.
This time – I was assured the parts were there, with my name tagged on them, before I would set the appt.

My temporary crown I got yesterday afternoon is a tiny bit taller than the old one, I guess after approx 25-30 years a crown can get old. But – in a few weeks I will get the permanent one. That was even less fun than the last one, as they had to get the old one off.

  3. Believe it or not, it was my intention to ride again today after finishing laundry. However, a dodgy knee (ligaments really), overnight storms which damaged trees, and a shitload of things to do at home conspired to squash that plan.

Yep, that was a hell of a storm last night. We lost power but it was only briefly. We sat on the screened back porch and enjoyed the show.

I booked us a beer tour in Prague — I’ve been to Prague before, I went there for my first honeymoon (heh) and loved it so much I vowed to go back. Figured my 50th birthday would be the fitting time! Barb, I’m going to take your advice and find some FB groups to join.

    • Barb says:

the FB groups are a great way to learn about stuff –
(I have a Budapest group – because one of these years we will get there – we’ve been trying to plan something with my friend who speaks Hungarian)

I joined a Maine group since we are going up there in July – and I know we aren’t there long enough to really see much, so I’ve decided we will do a Bar Harbor/Acadia trip the next time, and this time do more southern Maine & Boston.

      • Jenka says:

I considered Budapest for this one but it was too much to fit in after all that. But samesies — I will get there one day.

You will LOVE Acadia. As a kid one time I camped there for a weekend and watched the sunrise from the top of one of the mountains. It was magical.

        • Barb says:

Acadia – one day soon. Plus, I want to go into Canada, so that will need to be a different trip.

My niece is a middle school history teacher, so she wants to spend a little time in Boston & Salem, so we only have 6 days, & just don’t want to spend too much time in the car.

          • Jenka says:

LOL — well Salem is like a half a day, but you could also explore the north shore for the other half. And of course there’s a ton of stuff in Boston. If you only go to one place in Maine, go to Portsmouth!

          • Barb says:

why Portsmouth – and NH or Maine???
Or is that basically the same place?

  5. Some of WLF’s water features contain frog toad spawn and some tiny tadpoles. At least *somebody* is having sex at the ITP Estate…

    • And today I’ve sowed some sweet corn, and covered it so the kernels aren’t dug up and eaten, transplanted pickling cucumber plants, and planted a wild purple sweet potato that I rooted in a jar.

Apparently my buddy Hank is bringing me some Jerusalem artichoke (aka sunchoke) from Colorado, so I am going to see if it grows here.

    • Steve says:

I mighta just laughed out loud… I remember finding frog eggs inthe cats water by the shop and I was all excited. I think I took them down to the creek across the street, so the cats wouldn’t have caviar.

  6. Barb says:

Oh yeah – I got with the in-laws (that never fly) and now have access to TJs United account with lots of frequent flier miles.
I booked us a flight to Denver for the family gathering (Delta was $$$ compared to United) and First Class was only 30,000 miles each.
And I needed a United flight from Denver to Cedar Rapids – which I booked as main cabin, I didn’t think to look at 1st class miles were, I may go back in today & see what I can do. 😉 After having mt Delta credit card, I never realize all the extra charges there are to fly.

    • Flying first class all over the place, I don’t know who you are anymore! 😀

      • Barb says:

Getting bougie in my old age, but – after booking the CR flight, and seeing all the extra charges, using not that many more miles for First Class – & no extra charges, seemed like a no brainer

  7. This just in; the NY Mets are not that good, they keep losing to a .500 team called “Boston”.

Also not good are the Atlanta United. I’m now predicting the coach will be fired before the season ends.

    • Jenka says:

Big excitement at the game last night as our starting pitcher and our manager got tossed from the game in the third inning. We still won over the Mets! We take the series at least, hoping for a sweep tonight.
