I just said good morning to Sluggo, or what I assume is Sluggo. I wonder how long the average slug lives.
Wordle in 3!
Not much to report, except this is my last day until the 23rd. Still haven’t decided how I’m getting to the rally. I’d like to see my friends painting exhibit at the museum in Tuscumbia, AL, but that’s not along the way, but could be. I could head to Huntsville and do the Space Center, which would check off another “aviation” museum. decisions, decisions.
2 miles of run/walk yesterday.

where is the rally taking place? you forgot to tell us that.
Lebanon, TN- just east of Nashville. I’m volunteering for slave labor on Wednesday, so have to be camped there Tuesday evening.
Not even 8am and already busy morning in WLF.
– saved a honey bee from drowning
– pulled a diseased tomato plant, on which found and killed the first tomato horn worm of the year
– found on of Sluggo’s relatives munching on a marigold plant, so I dispatched it
The Barber of Seville was phenomenal at the Vienna Opera House, what an experience! Beforehand I had the best pork schnitzel of the trip so far.
Today we leave Vienna and head west to Salzburg. Currently on the train, which will take just under 3 hours. I planned this trip so we’d have a couple long train rides on purpose. Reading my book and watching the beautiful countryside!
I bet it was quite the experience.
I am so, so jealous. Must have been glorious!
Good plan on the trains. Many years ago, a friend and I went skiing in Bad Gastein. Flew into Vienna, hopped onto the train at the airport, dropped us right into town. We get off and I’m thinking, “Where is that hotel we have reservations in?” This was early days of the internet for travel. I look at the address- 21 Hauptbohnhoff (train station street). It was right across the street! Duh.
Hah! Very convenient! I think I might’ve seen that hotel while we were at the station this morning!
I always try to book a hotel within walking distance of a train station.
I also do that depending on the geography situation.
Oh, I loved that Bugs Bunny opera!
Also, in what language was the opera sung?
Lurve me some authentic schnitzel. And, this is what the German’s call “Spargelzeit” (asparagus time) so if you like asparagus, now is the time to order it in Germany, Austria, etc
It was in Italian, the composer is Rossini. They had little seat back screens at every seat with the translation, that was very helpful.
Didn’t do much yesterday – decided I want to make a carbonara sauce for pasta Friday night – having some friends over for dinner. We’ve never made it before, so I was perusing recipes. Got a small grocery list for today.
Been watching Poker Face (on Peacock) – we like it, but I think the 1st season was a little better than this new season – so just watch 1 or 2 episodes & then move on to something else.
Started The Residence (Netflix) – its seems to be a silly whodunit – so far we like it.
For the carbonara, do you cheat and use a cream sauce? Or do you do it proper with just egg? I cheat and use a cream or even an alfredo sauce, I just like it better.
it may very well be a hybrid – I want to try it with just egg, but I think adding a little cream might be the best idea.
Can’t wait to hear how it goes! It’s been a couple years since I made it, I should make it again since Kevin loves it.
wordle in 4 – my 3rd guess I wasn’t even sure if it was a word, but it was, so it helped me a lot
My fourth guess taught me a new word. I played it expecting Wordle to balk, but it did not.
Harvested some more purple potatoes. I grow more than I can eat, but not really enough to share. Besides, mine always look a little only, so some people may be scared to eat them.
And the latest news from the puppy making department- Debbie took Fig over to the breeder to get the job done on 2 different occasions, we think she’s past her time. Bennett doesn’t know that yet and is still at least thinking about it and she’s ready (and trying) to rip his face off.
sounds like Fig does NOT want to get prego.
Just realized that I have leeks and potatoes both from WLF. Guess what I will be making for dinner…
Eating bread I baked this morning with some pimento cheese that I made recently for lunch.
Found out that Hixtown Brewing in Villa Rica closed, last September (shows how often I make it to Villa Rica).
I never even heard of that brewery
I mentioned it here in this blog, though the only reference I could find is saying the I intended to go there in 2023 but didn’t that day. I visited it twice.
Bowling was just OK last night, I didn’t do terrible nor did I shoot the lights out. I managed to roll my average and that is about it. We played the 1st place team so we lost all 4 points 🙁 However, we only lost overall by 60 pins so I’m happy about that.
These 10 hour days are taking their toll, I am tired as hell but looking forward to 3 days off. We purchased a gazebo from Costco so will start putting it together tomorrow. It will probably take me all 3 days to complete too.
Enjoy your gay zebra!
where are you putting the gazebo ?
Gazebo is going on the deck, I need to put in some extra support but I think it will look good when done. We are not using the deck as much as I would like so thinking a cover will help.
Gazebo is about 1/10th the cost of building a permanent cover.
having a cover is an excellent idea – you will definitely use the deck more.
Operas? Gazebos? Who are you people? 😀
Who am I? Broke, that is who I am 🙂
Bob – spending all of Travis’s inheritance in 2025
Hey, you only turn 50 once! Is it my fault you all chose NOT to go to the opera? Bob and I are living our best lives. 🙂
I love classical music, but there isn’t a person alive who could get me to go to an opera.
If you nap so long and hard that you are awakened by having a nightmare is that still considered a nap?
I wish I could nap
It’s a blessing, and a curse.
