The heat finally figured out how to kill two of my pepper plants, even with my regular irrigation. And, unfortunately all of last night’s rain bypassed WLF.

I went to Brick Store Pub last night because Diatribe Brewing, a brewery I visited in Asheville, did a tap takeover there.

Wordle: four, my starter was AFOUL

Wordle in 3 and could have been 2 with a normal starter.

Well, I F’d the hydraulic repair. Recoverable, but I get to repeat the fill process, as I inadvertently added axel fluid instead of hydraulic. All large 2 gallon containers which have been sitting next to each other for years in the shop. 4 gallons of hydraulic followed by a couple cups of axel. Enough to screw up all the components. Oh well. I’ll try again tonight.

We got rain late, but not sure how much. Of course the dogs wanted to go out. They had to cross their legs all night.

  2. In case you were wondering, the humidity is quite high inside the perimeter today. It’s not even 8:30am and I’ve completely soaked my shirt with sweat. I’ve come inside to cool down a wee little bit.

Made it to Cedar Rapids landing about 1045pm. Uber was cheap last night – only $17 + tip.
New minor delay leaving – they couldn’t get the jet bridge to release from the airplane, but it was only about a 15 minute delay.

its weird being here at the house when its empty – but my idiot brother in the basement got home, and his girlie managed to break a window in the french door from the dining room to the porch – there was glass everywhere (I didn’t see any of it – as it was pitch dark when I came in the house.) So – at midnight – he was wet/dry vacuuming up it. Couldn’t it wait until morning??? Not for that guy. I shouldn’t complain – at least he cleaned it up

and its been storming all morning here

wordle in 5 – not a word I’d ever use

Went to Bar.bacoa for Taco Tuesday, it was good and not too crowded for once. It thundered but I don’t think it ever rained.

  7. Second and final round of sweating today is done. Spread some soil I purchased yesterday (as an aside, I seem to buy a lot of soil for WLF) and planted some field peas into it. We’ll see how many of these peas get eaten by critters before they sprout.

Paulie – a guy Tom works with at UPS – has a real farm – and needs help. His dad had a stroke, and most of the family has no interest. Want to come to Iowa & help harvest? You’d have to learn how the tractor works, etc, etc.

Dang, this soup I made is really tasty. I started using miso paste for flavor and it really makes it pop.

    • I’m sure it is. I have kinda a mental block about eating soup in summer. I eat plenty of other hot foods, but soup seems to be a fall/winter desire for me.

      • Barb says:

I just ran to this meat market that is pretty close to the house – they had a cheeseburger chowder – so I got a bowl – it was very tasty. Its raining here – so soup sounded good.

And- I got a sandwich – which was my original plan – now I have food for dinner later.

Do you have to cook for your brother while you’re there or is it every man for himself?

          • Barb says:

for my brother – no, not unless we discuss it. Before when we were giving him a break from Dad, he totally wouldn’t come over, and now he has basically moved back to his apartment. So he will be around, but how much, who knows.
he’s pretty over the brother in the basement too.

          • Jenka says:

Oh, I thought the brother in the basement was the one taking care of your dad, but actually it was the other brother. Now I see why you’re so over the basement brother, I would be too.

          • Barb says:

yes- there are 2 – Bob & Tom. Bob – the hoarder PITA, Tom, the one that’s been the caretaker.

And – older brother in WI – Dan – he’s not super helpful, but tries.
And Connie – she’s the most help

      • Jenka says:

I will eat soup at any hour of the day, every month of the year. I love it!

I forgot to report on the Wilson. My source says they are unlikely to make the effort this year. Apparently, Covington had around 300 riders, and with the success of One Love over Labor Day, they don’t think they will draw much. They also got pushback from starting in Gay last year, as people thought it was too far (I suppose).
