Gravity Falling?
Rumors are abound that my favorite East Atlanta watering hole has hit rockbottom and is heading toward closing. Last night I met a bunch of hashers at the Gravity Pub for some beer and darts. There was a slightly strange vibe in the building, much like a family gathering for a wake. I had way to much to drink (but to my credit I had walked to the bar) and must remember that while I would be saddened to see Gravity close its doors I cannot single-handily save the bar.

Maintenance Mode
I’m trying to regain the desire to keep myself in good working order. I’ve been in a real funk the past two months and have been letting myself go to pot. No, not that pot.
Yesterday’s trip to the dentist was a success, even though it cost $160 because my insurance is not accepted by my dentist. I’m not too bothered however because I have a flexible medical spending plan and if any problems were identified it would cost me a lot more.
Today is haircut day. I’m about a month overdue for a haircut. Surprisingly I don’t look as bad as I would expect at this point. However, I could use a good sprucing up.
Hell, I might even find a way to work in some exercise tonight as well. Tune in tomorrow to find out if I did…

‘Tis The Season
You probably think that I am going to talk about all the stuff I want to buy for myself this year. Not yet, that will be covered at a later date.
Today I am referring to the needs of others, especially those that have 503(c) non-profit status. I make a half-decent living and try to share a bit of it with non-profits who in return provide me with tax deductions. If you know of a worthy cause that I may not have heard about, please feel to drop their info into the comments, or email me using the link provided in the right-hand galley. I won’t promise a donation, but I’m all for learning about things I do not know.

I support Samaritan House. It’s a group that does job training to help the homeless get back on their feet. Not so much a handout but a hand up. A lot of success stories…

I’ve done work with Nicholas House in the past.
They take in the entire (homeless) family for up to two years and provide education, job assistance, after school care for children, etc. so the family can get back on thier feet.

Did you get the scoop on why Gravity is doing poorly? Has Graveyard hurt their business? It makes me sad that another one of my favorite haunts (well, at least before the kiddo came along) is having trouble staying afloat.
You know I never did ask Ashley what was going on. I guess I got distracted by the beer.
@Beth – I doubt Graveyard has put much dent in anyone’s business. It’s not nearly the same as Gravity and there’ve only been about 5 other people the two times I’ve been to Graveyard.
