Desperately Seeking, Part 1

Today is the first of two parts, the second of which should be logged sometime this weekend (Bonus Coverage!)

The Mighty Quinn
With little pomp and even less circumstance MTV surpassed its twenty-fifth anniversary on August 1st.

I was discussing this with a co-worker and we started talking about the original VJs (Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, JJ Jackson, Martha Quinn — all from memory thankyouverymuch) when it dawned on me…

It is this woman

Martha Quinn who defined what I have been looking for since I was a sixteen-year old lad.

It’s Springtime In August
As I’ve been walking around my house lately one theme has recurred — “this place needs to be cleaned.” Since my schedule isn’t crammed packed this weekend, save for a haircut and party Saturday and Black Sheep on Sunday, I am determined to unclutter, clean and start making some life decisions on what crap I need to keep and with what I can part (consider this to be my own rendition of TLC’s “Clean Sweep”). I wonder if there is a maid service in town that has anyone who looks like Martha Quinn?

Random ITP Flickr Pic
There is nothing like walking through a big city and seeing something out of the ordinary

Is This Really Chicago?

I came across this little bunny in Chicago(!). While it was nice enough to sit still for my shots, it was still hard to shoot thanks to low light and condensation on my lenses from the humidity.

From High Atop The Mountain
I’ve not had the time to review and upload pictures, but last night I had a great time hanging with some FlickrFolk out at Stone Mountain. These people really know how to use their cameras, so if you want to get an idea of the shots I should have gotten swing on over to Flickr and search for the tag ATLHOP080306. My renditions will be posted tonight.

As an aside, I think I was the only one there shooting with a Nikon. I am starting to wonder if I made the wrong decision with my purchase but it’s too late now because I have a lot invested in lenses and a flash unit.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – glad this long four-day work week (for me) is coming to an end
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Muse — “Knights Of Cydonia” (couldn’t pay The Man, therefore I’m missing out on Sunday’s show)
Website Of The Day – When I get a few spare minutes later today I am going to go to Housecleaning Tips to prepare myself for this weekend.

If you ever want a quick glance of the sites I’ve picked for my Websites Of The Day, you can check them out on del.icio.us, my user name is InsideThePerimeter (go figure), and they are all tagged as “blogged.”

Exercise (b)Log – does walking up and down Stone Mountain count?

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

  1. Martha says:

There seems to be a class for just about everything.

Get Your House Clean (Finally) and Keep It That Way http://www.cll.emory.edu/classes.cfm?cla=-819084664&pt=3

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Too funny. At one point I was going to be “that guy” who takes the Organizing Your Purse class (me with a backpack) who attends the class in an attempt to meet women. I didn’t do it because I thought it would look too desperate.

  3. Barb says:

If you are ever going to sell the house, start de-cluttering now. We have almost filled up a 8x8x12 PODS container just getting ours ready to sell. I work best with a deadline, but I’m swearing now that I will look thru the stuff when I unpack & toss atleast half it…… can someone please hold me to that? Just sticking things in the attic was a bad idea. (And why can’t hash swag & tshirts be thrown out? I know they can, but why don’t I do it?)

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I’ve toyed with the idea of selling the house, but it needs work, and I couldn’t get enough money out of it to buy anything else. Besides, I’m Paulie [eatl/ga], I can’t move out the hood!

  5. Martha says:

I’ve always found it helpful to have someone with no emotional attachment to your stuff and maybe a little on the mean side, help with the cleaning/purging.

So just call me if you need help!

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

If I can get my act together I’ll bring a box of stuff with me to your party and hide it somewhere in your house before you see me. 🙂

  7. Katlanta says:

    Martha’s good. Really.

    And yes, Stone Mountain counts.
