So Maybe Drinking All Day Is Not A Good Idea Afterall…

It’s 9:00am on Monday morning and I’m already behind schedule. It might have something to with the mass quantities of beer and food consumed yesterday, a day I didn’t even run with the group because I was hosting.

I remember “lying down for a minute” around 8:00pm and waking up at least six times between then and the time I finally dragged my arse out of bed.

They used to say the weekends were made for Michelob. I had none of those, but almost one of every other beer that was in my refrigerator yesterday.

Saved At The Eleventh Hour
On Friday I whined about going to the theatre alone. Well late Friday afternoon I got a call from my friend Melissa who was looking for something to do that night. I explained my plans and she agreed to join me.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, which was not as highly-attended as I had anticipated, was quite enjoyable. It was a musical based on a third-grade spelling bee (updated: spelling corrected) and its quirky contestants. To make the play quirkier, they integrate a few audience members into the play as students. The acting and singing were well-executed with the exception of a handful of times where the actors’ projections were not quite bold enough to reach us all the way in the balcony.

I’d recommend the play to anyone who enjoys musicals, but not to those who do not. I’d also advise you to pony up the extra couple of bucks to move out of the balcony for this production.

This is from last Thursday’s trip to Elliott Street Pub because I didn’t have the motivation to do any post-processing (much processing will have to be done on this new set because I felt I was constantly erroring — wrong ISO, f-stop, shutter, you name it — on every shot) on the shots I took this weekend.

Things Are Looking Up

I’d also thought I’d spare you all from another of my gross nature pics (at least for now…)

Dear Makers Of Prednisone
Could you please put a coating on your pills. Even when taken with milk or food your pills leave a horrible taste in my mouth. On the bright side they do seem to being doing wonders for my poison ivy and I’ve not felt nauseous nor lost a single moment of sleep since I’ve starting to injest them.

Crescent City Madman?
I’m contemplating a road trip to New Orleans this November. I know that the city is still different from the one I knew before this time last year when I posted about the impending doom of Hurricane Katrina.

If anyone has pointers on where I should stay, what I should do, where I should eatand drink in a post-Katrna New Orleans I’d certainly appreciate the input.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – well rested?
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Silversun Pickups — “Lazy Eye”
Website Of The Day – Last night I caught up on my backlog of Channel Frederator podcasts. In one of them I saw a cool music video done by Collection Agency Films. CFA has a couple of other neat cartoons as well, go check them out.
Exercise (b)Log – none, but I moved my hand to mouth a lot

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Shame on you Paulie, blaming poor, innocent, misunderstood beer for you lack of time management skills this morning…I don’t know who you are anymore 🙂

At least I didn’t blame that pepperoni and extra-cheese pizza the you, me and Darren ate, because that was all sorts of good!!!

I’ve been to NOLA five times since Katrina and all last spring you could feel an upswing, but last month it was rough. Crime is out of control (2 murders in the Quarter while I was there) and apparently the locals are mainlining anti-depressants because the destruction is still so overwhelming.

That said, the Quarter is intact and the restaurants are open — although some on a limited schedule. We had great meals at NOLA legends that are were hard to get into pre-Katrina. And the Acme Oyster House char-grilled oysters are muy bueno!

My favorite hotel is the Royal Sonesta. It’s right on Bourbon.

Yeah, I wonder if this is the right time for me to go down alone. Perhaps I shall wait it out.

You remember how much you paid for Photoshop and paying the fuck attention to the things I can fix using it. 🙂
