Things Are So Slow I Forgot To Add A Title This Morning…

Call Senator Stevens, My Internet Tubes Are Clogged
It’s been like 1996 in my house recently. My internet connection through SnappyDSL has been bloody awful, reminding me of the old dialup days.

While I’ve never had the fastest of DSL connections, especially since Telocity went belly-up after being bought out by DirecTV, my connection has been reliable. This has changed often the last few days making me wonder if something has gone awry with the infrastructure (not mine) and will never be corrected. Since SnappyDSL is based in Miami it’s not like they can send a guy out to check on the situation either.

If things don’t get better soon I might have to make a deal with The Devil.

This was the opening face off from last Wednesday’s Bruins/Thrashers game. I haven’t had a lot of practice capturing sporting events so I am fairly pleased how this turned out.

Face Off!

Even I Have My Limits
Remember how I said that my CD Pick of the Week yesterday was the Badly Drawn Boy release? (I am apparently the only one who thinks this is a decent CD) I went to make good on my suggestion by heading out to Criminal Records to make the purchase. I walked up to the counter to purchase the CD only to find out that the cost was $17.99 (plus tax of course). Nope, add it to the list containing the $5.50 pint of beer because I am not going to do it! You might say “But Paulie, CDs have cost that much for some time! Asshat.” I usually wait for the CDs I desire to make it to the used bins.

I have over 35GB of ripped music (not including downloaded podcasts) so it’s not like I am hurting for options.

btw – I just received and email from La La and they are selling the same CD for $11.69 (plus some delivery fee that I have yet to determine).

No George’s… Again
In the future this section will appear only when I intend to go to George’s…

Tonight instead of exercising (followed by beer drinking) I will be headed to The Masquerade to see Piebald. The bands Say Anything and Me Without You are also on the bill so I am making the assumption that Piebald is the opener, although if memory serves me right they headlined at The Masquerade the last time I saw them there. This time the show is in Heaven and not Hell and to be honest I really don’t know which one of the three bands is big enough to warrant that size room. I guess I will find out tonight.

Does anyone know what time the first band usually hits the stage there? I cannot remember.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – crummy
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing TV On The Radio — “Wolf Like Me”
Website Of The Day – Retro is all the rage these days so go Old School and play Apple ][ and Apple //gs games on your modern day Windows machine thanks to Virtual Apple.
Exercise (b)Log – none, I really wanted to but never got around to it

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

🙁 It sucks I know. (CD prices.) Poo poo on the majors for marking up wholesale cost making it impossible for indie stores to compete with big boxes!

    *off soapbox*

  2. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I still won’t buy from a big box, I’d rather wait until I can find it used. Sometimes it takes a while. that’s why I still don’t own any of the Decemberists’ CDs.

You don’t have to go to the darkside. Earthlink also offers DSL too.

  4. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

True k1ng, I hadn’t thought about Earthlink. It’s been years since I was a customer of theirs (actually Mindspring).
