I Was Wanting People To…

…stop saying “was wanting.” This speech pattern really gets under my skin! It would be just as easy, if not easier, to say “I want” in its place. Would it not? And don’t even get me started with the lack of subject-verb agreement when people say “there’s” instead of “there are”…

My Eyes Have Seen The Glory Of The Coming Of The Weekend
In case you were wondering if you should take a half-day off from work on let’s say a Tuesday, I have one word for you — DON’T, especially if you have done the same thing on the previous Friday.

Yesterday I had a 2pm optometrist appointment at Colony Square and since I planned on combining this with a trip to the High to pick up tickets to see the Lourve exhibit this Saturday I decided to take another half-day off from work. From my point of view it was silly to return OTP only to have to fight traffic to get ITP a few hours later.

My eye appointment went well, tickets were acquired, and my thoughts about walking around Midtown taking photos were dashed because I was not dressed appropriately for the weather. Instead I decided that I would drive home and go for a run. This just in, I am not that fond of running any longer.

The reason I advise you not to follow in my footsteps on this was because all yesterday afternoon I felt like a long weekend ahead just begun. When I realized that it was only Tuesday my glee deflated like a balloon after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

They Take A Licking And Keep On Ticking

For those PC users out there this dent does not come standard with Macs, however it does show that they can take a licking and keep on ticking.

That’s A Big Improvement, Amazon
Since I bit the bullet and became a Prime member over at Amazon.com I have been looking for a way to identify items which are sold “directly” by Amazon so that I could take advantage of the free two-day shipping. In the past it has been difficult because items returned via a search would not indicate if they were being sold by Amazon or one of their many partners (which therefore do not qualify for the free shipping) until you viewed the product’s details page.

Initially I was going to suggest that Amazon provide a way to search for only products that qualify for Prime shipping. Afterall, I did pay a premium to be a Prime member…. However Amazon has chosen to go a slightly different route, one which provides me the information I need on the search results page, so I will keep my piehole shut for the time being.

Thanks Amazon. This is a very useful improvement.

Let It Never Be Said That I Don’t Follow Through On Bets
With CandyAss’ departure last week on Survivor I was officially crowned a loser. The running bet with my friend Stacy, which now also includes my friend Phil, is that the winner is allowed to pick a song which the loser much purchase from the iTunes Store and download onto his/her iPod.

My penalty was “Are You Out There?” by Dar Williams and as this picture clearly shows, I’m a stand-up guy…

I’m Going To Start Calling This The Intermittenet
My home internets is getting me frustrated. Last night it wasn’t that the connection was slow, but rather that about 10% of the time I’d get an error in Firefox telling me that things were taking too long to connect and I had to try again. This is nonsense I tell you, and if I had the time and confidence that jumping ISPs would make matters better I’d do it in a New York Minute. Shit, I’d probably save $10 per month in the process as well but am usually more confident battling the devils I know over the ones I do not.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – okay except for some weird bodily behavior and the fact that I am overweight and cannot get myself exercising
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing Now It’s Overhead — “Let The Sirens Rest” (which to me sounds like it belongs on U2’s “Joshua Tree”)
Website Of The Day – You want to download some music punk? Yes? You want to download some punk music? Yes? I bet you can find something you like at DownloadPunk then.
Training Target – running, 3 miles
Exercise (b)Log – Nope didn’t do it, a long winter’s nap woke me up too late (and too cold) to go outside. perhaps Santa will bring me some cajones for Christmas

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

  1. hahaha. funny thing is, i think i actually own that Dar Williams CD.
I mean, I was a teenage girl once.

Having never been a teenage girl myself I had not heard of Dar Williams before. 🙂

  3. Stacy says:

Yay! My mission is successful! It’s tough coming up with music for you, Paulie, given you know and see (er, rather, hear) every band that’s out there. And it’s only going to become more difficult for me now that you’re beginning you’re losing streak.

Teenage girl — heh heh. Tru dat. But Dar’s fun. I’ve seen her in concert quite a few times – here, in Boston, and in Tampa. In Atlanta she’s usually comes to Variety Playhouse. I picked a pretty safe song for you (one of her most popular); she’s got a lot of clever, funny ones too and really puts on a good show.

Oh, and you’re a man after my own heart with your grammar policing: those things you mention drive me batshit too.

  4. Stacy says:

Dammit! I meant YOUR losing streak. You knew that though.

  5. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

HA! HA! HA! HA! That’s so funny. 🙂

  6. Leah says:

    I loooove Dar Williams.
