Hybernation Days

And To Think I Nearly Took Marta Yesterday
I was going to do it — make my first Marta commute of 2006. However, I was an early riser who didn’t want to be bothered with standing outside in the cold waiting for a train to arrive. After hearing of the “minor” derailment and the trouble that one of my co-workers encountered getting into the office I was quite pleased with the choice I had made.

My One-Time $2.49 Cingular Tax
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Under the influence of “I wonder how this works?” I purchased my one-and-only ring tone from Cingular yesterday. At first I shuddered at the $2.49 price for the song, especially when I can purchase the same song from iTunes for $0.99. I was really peeved when I found out that my purchase was a scant sixteen second snippet from the song and not the entire song! What. A. Fucking. Ripoff!!!! Never, and I repeat never, will I do this again.

When will companies realize that their insane greed drives people away from making purchases?

Oh and in case you were wondering, I bought “Don’t Want To Know If You Are Lonely” by Husker Du.

I pass this set of signs every day I drive to work. They are located on Moreland Avenue just south of Dekalb Avenue, near the Edgewood Retail District.

Belt And Suspenders

What I wonder every time I pass is why the installers didn’t see the sign which was originally there, and either
– not install the new sign
– remove the old sign

I Wish These Things Were Accurate

An admirer is too shy to greet you at the moment

Yeah right, and I am to believe the the Florida Gators will be playing for the National Championship and that the East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads will make the playoffs in my fantasy league…

And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Deadbeat Dads
Another Christmas Miracle has occurred!

I cursed their every move…
I left them for dead…
I went so far as to start Jake Plummer as their quarterback…

And yet the East Atlanta Deadbeat Dads somehow made my fantasy league playoffs! Much in the same way that my beloved Gators had teams ahead of them destroy their own seasons, so it went for the Deadbeat Dads. Eh, who am I kidding, it was all because of my amazing coaching skills.

Ho Ho Holy Shit!
Would have been my reaction if I saw a CD being released today that piqued my interest. Instead this is another slow week for new releases in my music world so I can recommend nothing. I think that this week I will start recommending CDs which have been released in 2006 that you should have purchased but probably didn’t.

Therefore today’s recommendation is “I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child” by Atlanta’s Manchester Orchestra. I have been listening to this disc quite a bit since I picked it up at Criminal Records for some ridiculously low price like $9 or $10.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – bothered for reasons which are two difficult to explain
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing They Might Be Giants — “Ana Ng”
Website Of The Day – Every once in a while I encounter a website that makes me say W. T. F? Today Squid provides me with such a conundrum.
Training Target – stretch and strengthen
Exercise (b)Log – After getting home late, talking to my mother on the phone, and cooking up dinner this never happened.

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

Good pick! I’ve been really digging this Manchester Orchestra cd ever since you mentioned it a while ago.

  4. Rich says:

Sadly, I’ve yet to make it through the whole MO disc in one sitting. I’m surprised to say this, but I don’t think I like it very much. I’ll have to give it another shot. I like the EP. Hmm.

  5. Leah says:

Damn. If only I were petite. And single. 😉

  6. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

Oh sure rub in the fact that you are not single…. 😛

  7. Leah says:

Ah, well it has only been a four month stint so far, and after 3 years of actually being single, I have to gloat. But I’m still not petite. And I never will be. Damn the tall genes my dad passed along.

  8. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

There is nothing wrong with having tall genes. But since my height will never see anything taller than 5’9″ I have a tendency to seek out those women who are shorter than me (plus some accounting for heels).
