And I now possess an iMac which sleeps like a baby. Thanks Cory.

When News Isn’t ‘New’ And Fresh Air Isn’t “Fresh”
I am cutting ties with some of my news sources and podcasts. While I have been pleased with the subject matter of the past week’s “Fresh Air” podcasts they have all been repeats. It seems that a lot of this summer’s Fresh Air episodes have dipped into past interviews. Not very “fresh” if you ask me.

Other Marketing Baloney
“33% More Than Our 150 oz Bottle!”
“Our Longest Lasting Roll!”

These are two actual statements I read on products at Target the other day.

The first statement was on a 200 oz bottle of Tide. The intent of this marketing schlock is to make you think that you are getting more product for the same price. However, if you paid attention you’d notice that there is no mention of getting anything for free, and that the price of the 200 oz bottle was about 33% more than the price of the 150 oz bottle.

The second statement was on a package of Angel Soft toilet paper. Longest lasting roll? What the hell does that really mean? Does it mean that I will be able to wipe my butt more effectively? Does it mean that there is more paper on each roll? I think that it means nothing at all.

Oh, because these are products I constantly have purchased in the past I wound up buying both products. I guess that their bullshit worked on some level.

I’m Sorry What Did You Just Say?
Cingular? Huh? I thought that you were all about the “New AT&T”. If so, why did I see that “Cingular” was sponsoring the 18/58 Sports Updates on ESPNHD the other night. That just makes no sense to me.

Standing At Attention

Because I am far from thrilled with the choices that I had for today’s post.

A Sentence Which Defines A City
I took this from an article in yesterday’s Atlanta Journal Constitution

The wreck occurred right after rush hour, about 8:30 p.m., near the Memorial Drive intersection and debris, spilled fuel and wrecked vehicles shut all five lanes of traffic, said Bryan Gunter, a spokesman for the DOT.

Yes, it says “right after rush hour, about 8:30 p.m.” I am not loving living here much any longer.

Ooooh, He’s A Little Runaway
Me.
Tonight.
George’s.
Will try to run.
Will hope that legs and knees will not hurt, and that new problem with foot stops bugging me.
Will try not to eat/drink too much.
Must get home early enough to be productive.

And One More Thing…
Last week I mentioned a purchase that I was going to make today. It’s not going to happen. Today I was going to upgrade my camera from a Nikon D50 to a Nikon D80. It’s not that I don’t want the D80 or that I think any significant price-drop is on the way, I have just decided to save a little money right now.

And for what it’s worth, Apple has a new product announcement (new iPods?) coming this afternoon.

And now for some ideas stolen from LiveJournal…
Current Mood – frustrated on many levels
Current Music – Sirius Satellite Radio, Channel 26 playing The Jesus And Mary Chain — “Blues From A Gun”
Website Of The DayDry Ink Magazine is a pretty good local magazine covering the music and arts scene.
Exercise (b)Log – nothing
Monthly Mileage – 0 miles
Mode Of Transportation To Work – My car

September Goals
1) Get my first Ruby / Ruby on Rails program written
2) Lose 5 pounds (if at first, second, third, fourth, you don’t succeed….)
3) Take no fewer than three photos a day
4) Listen to (and review) one CD a day in September

Cheers,
Paulie [eatl/ga]

See, who said that bitching enough about something never got us anywhere!

Grammar Girl says: End quote please!!!

I DO like the big gray quote marks… even more so if there were the end one, too. Yup, I need medication for whatever kind of Grammar OCD this is. 🙂

And yay to the font!! Me and my eyes don’t feel so old anymore.

  3. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

I haven’t looked at the CSS for the layout yet. Perhaps I’ll see if I can close the quotes.

  4. Stacy says:

Sweet! And I don’t know if you’re planning on bringing them back or not, but I do miss walking in your footsteps and reading about your Taco Mac brewskies too!

  5. Paulie [eatl/ga] says:

All will be restored ASAP, well as soon as I have time to dig through the code and see how it is laid out.

  6. Stacy says:

I have all my work done today so I’m playing a little.

It’s been weirdly fun watching all the things “fill back in” on your blog.
